Let's see mine would be...

1- Chrono Trigger(My favorite by far, it's reason I even like RPGs so much)
2- Final Fantasy V
3- Final Fantasy VI
4. Super Mario RPG
5- Breath of Fire
6- Final Fantasy VII
7- Final Fantasy IV
8- Shining Force(Don't remember which one I played... :( )
9- Final Fantasy X
10- Soul Blazer(IIRC, it's been so long I played it...)

Argh it's really hard to make a list as aside from the first 3 the rest can be in any order and there are several that could also fit in there...

^ chrnno you are my new net b/f for liking Super Mario RPG. To me is one of the best RPG i've played in terms of graphic, gameplay, story and by far my favorite nintendo character beside kirby: Geno. Man this guy doesn't get enough love in the mario world. the only time I saw him again was the slot game at a casino in Mario and Luigi, their spiritual successor.

You know I was really surprised when I saw it in your list as I have met very few people who played it or even knew of it. And it truly is a pretty good game though it's been so long I have played it(and most of the others in my list) that I have to think for a while to remember more than "I liked it" so that I can actually compare them.

Also I just noticed there are 5 FFs in my list and I have played 5 FFs... :o

Anyway I don't think it was really a surprise to anyone which was the 1st in my list... And before anyone says I mispelled it then I have to say that the first time I played it was with an emulator and the rom was named like this so it kinda stuck into my mind and even if I know it's not the right way to write it I don't care... :D

GASP! you didn't play the super nintendo version? even the ps1 version? lol j/k that's one of games I have to play in my life. I still haven't had the chance to.

Well I did play the super nintendo version only in the computer... That said I've never owned any(ps1/xbox/n64/etc) unless you consider one my brother had and gave away when I was 5 or 6...

Anyway you gotta play it, it's by far the best game I've ever played. I played it to the end then with New Game Plus until I got everything possible then did it again so many times I've lost track of. It's the game that everytime RPG is mentioned I think of. Definitely a must play game.

Thats why my list has games from the same series (or even company) all grouped together.
1. Bioware's d20 RPGs (BG, NWN, etc.) <- company
2. Final Fantasy 1, 2/4 and 3/6 (The original on NES started me on Rpgs) <- series
3. Zelda Series (Action Rpg, it has to count...) <- series
4. Oblivion
5. Mass Effect
6. Chrono Trigger
7. Seiken Densetsu 3
8. Shining Force (Way more fun than FF Tactics or Fire Emblem imo)
9. Gauntlet and Gauntlet: Dark Legacy (Fun as hell with friends) <- series
10. Fallout 3 (Probably because my laptop lagged on anything higher than lowest settings)

But then how I could rank them? Comparing series and/or company to single games is done how? Taking the best, the worst, making an average, etc... :?

I only played 2 Zelda games, one in snes that I rather enjoyed but never quite finished and other at n64 that I barely played at all.

I wasn't as conflicted as you are about that way of grouping titles.

Well, it's just that when I do something I want to do it reasonably well even if I don't want to spend much time in it.
