8.75% taxes. Its about 10 percent.

So if we assume its 12.99 then taxes are about 1.29 which puts it around 14 bucks.

8.75% tax would make it 14.12XX (although, I think they always round up the penny, so 14.13). Fair enough. That explains the 15 bucks thing.

Edit: So, I finally got a iPod nano (it's more of a convenience thing, I already have an iPad) and can agree that Apple Headphones are not worth that much.

I miss when iPods actually had a better DAC in them. Yet, it does not exactly matter at the end of the day when the Apple earbuds form a bottleneck in the signal.

A) What is that?
B) Not all of us have studied this kind of thing.

Yeah, that is a summary of what that is. I've never thought of my ipods as sounding any different though. Maybe I just don't listen close enough.

Or maybe you just don't really care? Audiophiles can tell the difference. Most people can not or won't care.

That is also because most people listen to music as background noise for while they are doing something else. As has been stated here before, music has lost its value as an event and has become a cheap commodity for the masses to consume like pigs.

I don't know about it losing its value, but I agree that people don't just plug in their stereo headphones and listen anymore. The only time that I'm actually paying attention to whats going into my ears is while running.

I do not mean fiscal value here but intrinsic value to the listener.

Well it really depends on the person. I personally value all my music and try to appeciate them as much as possible. Then again I play music so that skews it a bit.

I honestly appreciate all my music, I can't think of a song that I listen to that hasn't been on Repeat One for hours on end.
I only know basic guitar things, I couldn't just pick up a guitar and start strumming away.

As Poke pointed out, people who play instruments tend to care more about this kind of issue. For those who do not play instruments (i.e., the majority of society), most of them could not care less.
