RPG Maker might be easier, but I'm gonna mess around and make a few demos first.

I found an english interface, however I can't seem to download the japanese version... I can't access their homepage. ><

And the Rpg Maker, it seems that RPG Maker Xp is more complex but it offers more freedom. While RPG Maker XV is easier, but offers less freedom...

seeing as this little (at the moment it is little, though i really do hope it gets big) game is to teach japanese with the assumption that players knows at least hira/kata, would making little hira/kata in kanjis help in learning what these kanji's are (even if just reading, players would probably get the meaning with search engines or trial and error in-game wise)

Well, the most simple solution would have furigana on top of the kanji the first few times you run across it, and then getting rid of it altogether.

(Or having a "Kanji Learned" select option and the ability to scroll through all Kanji learned so far.)

YEs... If you fail the Kanji more than three times, it resets so that you could learn again... To bad it can't help with the pronunciation...

I don't get it... I bet you downloads RPG Maker XP. It would've been easier if you downloaded Rpg Maker VX.

I tried RPG maker VX. It wouldn't let me use Japanese.

Basically, I don't know where it is located, it should be in the folder that you save your game in, there should be a file called "Game.ini". Double click it, or right click>edit, then find the line that says "Library=RGSS202E.dll" and make it say "Library=RGSS202J.dll". With no quotes.

Then when you go to debug, you should switch it back.

Edit: Apparently didn't work for poke.

It reverts back though. I've saved it and rechecked the .ini file, and it's reverted back.

Something that guy did switched it, but he doesn't explain it.
