Re: Firefox or Chrome?

Post by ainsoph9 »

I downloaded some themes for Chrome, but the resolution is too large. My monitor is 1440 x 900 while the themes are 1920 x 1200. There are no other sizes for the themes, and I would like to use them, but a good chunk of the image is clipped off. I was wondering if there was a way to edit these themes to scale down the resolution. Any ideas? :?

The answers simple. Chrome. There is incognito. What else do you need?

Safary :D I'm running on Mac and firefox sucks on it.

But chrome is good as well. I generally prefer Chrome to firefox on a windows because it's faster.

Hmm I guess both have their cons and merits, personally I feel that chrome is more slick and uses less ram than firefox so it goes easier on your computer, though firefox does have the benefit of being able to add more scripts and what not.

I guess it depends on what you are using it for? I use multiple browsers and think its not too bad, as I do use firefox, chrome, opera and safari haha!
Don't you just love reading? I think it is one of the joys of life, where we can escape the cold reality of the world and exist in something so much more fun and exciting! ^_^

Chromium for any intensive stuff here. though I do sometimes use Links
And when it comes to HTML5 support, Chrome beats FF, though I don't mind FF.
IE is terrible though... so many things wrong with it...
Which one did you end up going with Kira?

Personally, I'm using Chrome instead of FF, more simple and faster~
IE is undoubtedly terrible, but when you're creating a webpage, it's a standard pre-requisite to have it run without any problems in IE

... Among my fellow web developers it is standard practice to ignore IE, and insult IE users... If they can't follow open standards it is their own fault.

I always use and prefer Firefox since I don't trust google long before the recent incident.

Back on College, our Dept head hate windows so much he change the OS to linux of the department. The IT department only teaches linux.

Hmm...

In terms of resource utilization Chrome and IE beat Firefox hands down. I used to use Firefox, but at one point the updates would always cause an unending resource utilization leak which would crash my system. Was annoying as hell so I switched to Chrome with its much smaller footprint.

Though IE is a decent, if uninspired, web browser in its latest iterations. From a business standpoint it is more user friendly and has greater exposure to non-professionals so any serious development has to take it into consideration. The stock user who buys a PC out of a box will typically have Windows and use IE so it is a force that can't be trifled with. Also, recent studies show that IE is generally more stable and secure than Chrome, Safari, or Firefox. Then again...it IS IE and I avoid it for my personal use when I can.

Good question...
It really depends...

Use Firefox if you need all those quick access addons like Rikaichan, Adblock plus, etc. and if you want more settings under your control. The downside is that it really uses up a lot of memory but they already fixed most of the memory leaks in the previous versions.

Use Chrome if you want a speedy, easy to use browser. I find its privacy settings questionable though... The main downside is that it spawns several processes (1 chrome.exe for each tab I think) that uses up some of your processing power.

And then there's Opera if you need your browser to be as lightweight as possible. I use this one on my 2003 era laptop (running a minimal installation of Windows XP Professional SP3) and it holds up quite well.
