Yes, but the boundaries are disappearing due to the high amounts of adaptions into other mediums. Also, the characters across all the mediums are similar, so it's questionable whether such a limitation makes sense

Well, keeping to manga only, it's been a while since a female character really left an impression on me. Last significant one was probably Hatenkou Yuugi's Rahzel. And lately, Kodomo no Jikan's Kokonoe Rin was a bit awesome (specifically referring to the manga here, I stopped watching the anime after <5 minutes). So I guess that would make those two my numbers 1 and 2, the other numbers being left open for now, since I "may not" choose characters that are originally from another medium.

And I hate male characters with a passion, so the list is completely empty here. As a matter of principle.

Seen too many useless, rage-inducing male characters when my filters weren't properly developed yet. The filters improved, the general dislike stuck. Though there are some awesome male characters out there, they drown in the masses of plain ones, so I haven't been able to get over my "trauma" yet. And I don't really want to. I'm a bit of a troll, and "I hate male characters with a passion" gets me more reactions that "I don't particularly like or dislike male characters"

Probably both. Well, actually I don't really care about "strength". What I hate is indecision. So the "harem lead" and those with similar traits (or those too stupid to properly act in a love triangle) aren't compatible with me... and it may be just me noticing the bad examples more, but I feel there are quite a lot of those out there.

There is another trait that I absolutely hate, but I'm denying its existence right now (meaning I forgot)

In my case, it's really those characcters that suddenly get an 'unimaginable' strength at the last second, as they're been killed, that bother me. Once is OK, but if it happens one outta 2 times, then it's just annoying.
