SAL in cdjapan and honto.jp(previously bk1)

Hi,

I would like to know your views and known info on this topic..

I have lots of people using cdjapan and honto.jp/bk1 and saying they were good.

In terms of book pricing, after tax for cdjapan, the price are the same as the price but right now, bk1/honto is having a slight discount for all books(or items)...

But when it comes to SAL, what is the chances of one being more expensive than the other?
I am asking as i am still wondering if i should buy from cdjapan or bk1...

The posting rate is decided by the postal, so chances that the pricing would be different depends on their packaging.

Japanese Tax
CDJapan prices do not include any Japanese tax unless you send your order to an address within Japan. On the product pages, we show the prices including the Japanese tax in parenthesis. However, the prices without the Japanese tax applies if your order is to be sent overseas.

Thx.. I actually just gave a try at honto.jp, buying Campione 3 & 9.
The shipping was 480 yen compared to cdjapan's 610(caculated shipping)
Destination of shipping is Singapore.

Hope this reply can help people like me who wish to have a gauge on the shipping price..

Hmm... It's available at Kino store... From what I hear the prices at the stores are cheaper than the bookweb prices

Hahaha, Kinokuniya has everything. If not Orchard, Liang Court. Call to check however. If not ordering via Kino saves you a lot on shipping (costs about $13-$14).

Actually i have checked out about it...
The books i wanted campione costs around 15 average...

But the price i calculated at 1680 yen inclusive of shipping is actually slightly cheaper...

Quite lazy to go down to city..

1680 yen is cheaper? It's SGD$26.50, you know? That's like $10 more. Oh, I also have the privilege card, so I get 10% off, 20% during special occasions which occur almost every month.

Sorry for not being clear... I was using my previous scenario of book 3 and 9...

Regarding the card, yeah.. i know about it.. but I didnt know about the 20% thing though...
Does the card discounts for all japanese light novels/manga or it depends?

And after calculation, treating books of campione set of 10 at $15 per books...
so total would be $150 and after discount, it would be $120.. adding the subscription at $21+, that would be 141+. (<-- of course that is if i get the card only for campione...)
Using the above sum as average, the import would cause $13.5 per book summing up to $135, but of course the chance of your mail missing is there...

Ah ok, I did order from bk1 once. I didn't find it worth it partly because the book took more than 2 weeks to arrive, and it didn't really save me much money LOL (as a matter of fact, I think it save me nothing).
For me, I spend around a substantial amount of money each year at Kino, since I also read books on management, business, personal development and investment, aside from the huge stock of LNs and manga (a lot of them yet to be read). And I always try to strike the 20% period unless I'm in a real hurry to read something.

Which is 25 bucks? U mean kino or honto? And if u include shipping within japan, do u use something like vpost?

I mean standard extra costs when you order direct from Japan.

Depends whether internal shipping is being handled by proxy or not. Most Japan sites don't ship overseas that's why.

Kino waives this for you.

Oh.. Just to inform anyone who have replied me, My books have arrived from honto.jp... it took around 2-3 weeks... Aug 20th to Sep 4th...

the cost was SGD27.35 from the deduction for 2 Books, Campione 3 & 9.
