Well, I'm back. hahahaha

No, I didn't die......unless......heaven is my bedroom?! ...............no........it can't be........NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*sighs*

Finally got highspeed internet, and anyways, Internet Explorer would never allow me on here. So I got OPERA, and finally, I am back.

I'm so happy you people liked my story ONE LAST STAND. Although, I see now it needed revisions. lol

Were finally getting the second issue to start beginning. Were trying to get many more artists as well as some original short manga. :)

If anyone is interested in having a story in the mag, feel free to contribute. We'd especially like some types of stories we don't already have serialized. Like maybe some comedy?

As for the ADVICE column....yea, well, I wasn't necesarily writing that for manga or ln readers, more like average americans. lol

But yea, lots of improvement to come. Yup. Yup.

Funny that you say CUENTA was one of the least enjoyable, because out of most of the blog reviews, its listed as their favorite. lol

Anyways, I'll be back. Leave comments, and please, VOTE ON THE POLLS! POST IN THE BBS! And I don't mean here, I mean on http://www.ksm.lightnovel.org

If you liked my series, vote for it. lol

-Matt :)

PS. To answer an earlier question, no, past tense does not mean he didn't do it.

"He was the man in charge, the man who made all the decisions."

That does NOT mean that he is no longer in charge, its simply a fact that in novels, using past tense is almost mandatory.

See, your describing everything to the reader, so things are almost always past-tense.

Hope that answered your question.

Good evening.

I realize it's been a while since this post was first posted, but I was wondering if this projected has been fruitful, or simply abandoned. Any information at all would be helpful. Thank you.

I'm in the same boat as you Niko. I've really wanted to write something anime related, so light novels are the next best thing. It's too bad that the project is more than likely shut down. Still if there was another project of the sort I'd be more than willing to sign up!

Since it has been over four years since the last post on this topic, and all the links on the previous pages are dead, this project is dead with a 0.999 probability.

bronx819, if you are truly interested in joining such a group, let me know. I may have knowledge of a fledgling project such as this.

I think I know which group you're talking about, Nichodemos :)

It must be Project Light Novel! You can find their web site here: www.projectlightnovel.wordpress.com

Basically they're aiming to start America's first light novel magazine, so they're recruiting writers and artists on their web site. I sure hope they succeed. I think it'd be pretty cool if America had its own light novel magazine :) Anyway, if anyone was disappointed to find out that Matt122004's venture didn't succeed, or that you were too late to get on as a writer or an artist, you should check out the team at Project Light Novel.

As interesting as the project seems, the goal of getting the magazine published and making it a success just seems like way too much of a stretch at the moment. (Plus, since it's only for American citizens, I'm out anyway.) Honestly, I want light novels to be popular as much as anyone else here, but given how much of a niche they are, drawing interest for a free online magazine consisting of original western works would be difficult enough as is, but definitely worth a shot.

I can't tell how interesting OLNs are to people these days quite yet, though the original threads here seem fairly quiet and the severe lack of artists doesn't exactly help our "situation." However, personally, I'd be very interested in contributing to some sort of western light novel magazine, and my doujin circle partner might join too once she gets more of her project done.

In the end, I guess my question is... it's been years since the first post, so how many people are even still interested in such a project? (Both as readers and contributors.)

You're talking about Matt's first post, right? I'd say there's an interest still. If you look at the "Really, the FIRST?" tab on the Project Light Novel website, it says that there's been at least a couple of attempts since Matt's. One of them, Sparkler Monthly, has been successful for the past few months, but they say it can't really be called a light novel magazine, so maybe its just a matter of time?

I don't think the Project Light Novel team is aiming to be immediately successful, though I'm sure they'd be happy if they were. On the web site they even say that it's a long shot, and they say that as an advisory warning to anyone who is thinking about joining. They'll probably try to gain popularity over time, ya know?

Of course I don't think they're trying to be successful immediately; they state their own doubts enough on their website. I'm not trying to be overly negative about it either, but even having their first published release in 2015, disregarding its potential popularity or lack thereof, seems pretty far-fetched.

I may be completely wrong about my doubts as Baka-Tsuki is the only significant western light novel community I know, but do we even have enough dedicated light novel writers and artists to publish them all in a regular magazine (or justify making a community dedicated to OLNs, or more OLN releases on Baka-Tsuki, or...)? I've seen enough projects fail, or never start properly, because people quit early, can't make it to deadlines, and so on.

That being said, I still want to contribute to making original western light novels more popular because personally, I adore them. But all the doubts won't leave my mind, as light novels aren't even a choice half as popular as webcomics or visual novels for the creative western community. ;_;

Well, 2015 is a whole year away :( but maybe they're just making sure they have enough time to do things right? Or by "far-fetched", do you mean you don't think its real? We both mentioned it, but a few others have tried this before. lol this thread kinda makes that point. I think there are definitely enough writers and artists around who would love to be apart of something like this though. On the Project Light Novel web site, they say they already have five writers. I guess the only question is whether the writers and artist who want to do this will be anywhere near professional level.

Doubts? With so many other people failing, I guess that's a given, but you gotta take a chance to make something happen, right? Contribute to making original western light novels more popular, huh? That actually sounds pretty fun. How would you do that if you had the chance?
