Re: Novels-concerned news
Given that the community is growing, I was thinking of making our own English versions of 文庫総合スレ to even further increase awareness.

Re: Novels-concerned news
How would that be like? We get a copy of it and translate it completely? Or do you mean making a magazine of translations or original stories that is available on B-T? Either way, it requires a lot of time and effort for timely releases, won't be easy. Need at least a dozen people to work together don't you think?larethian wrote:Given that the community is growing, I was thinking of making our own English versions of 文庫総合スレ to even further increase awareness.
God!!
You need not forgive me.
For those I love,
The violence brought about by sinful men
Shall now be used once more.
If you were created to save this world,
If there is a single shred of hope left for the future of mankind,
I am very sorry, but, please begone!

Re: Novels-concerned news
It's not translations. It's just consolidating of the news with regards to the various publishers, like novel releases for the month, new series, new winners of their various awards, new adaptations, rankings, sales figures etc. etc.. One thread for one publisher.ShadowZeroHeart wrote:How would that be like? We get a copy of it and translate it completely? Re: Novels-concerned news
that would be nice if there's people who're willing and have the resources available to make this work.
Just curious, how much info is there generally? Say if it's a weekly post? Just wondering whether it could fit in a single thread instead of it being a thread per publisher.

Re: Novels-concerned news
It will be more sensible to organize it by publisher for adhoc posting. There's no need to update it weekly. Anyone who can read Japanese to a certain degree can rip the info off 2ch whenever they want to and do minimalistic translation of the data:

Re: Novels-concerned news
It could be a good idea. The only problem is that there may be not enough discussions to sustain all the threads and most of them will sink to nowhere. After all, I bet most of the B-T readers can't tell which publisher label their favourite series belong to. The only few who will be participating in those threads are likely the JE translators here.larethian wrote:It will be more sensible to organize it by publisher for adhoc posting. Maybe there can be a dedicated forum for holding these discussion threads so that they don't disappear from page 1 after a month. But it would be difficult to persuade the Big Boss or other admins to go through the trouble of setting up a dedicated forum for deserted threads.

Heh, I don't understand what you mean by "news-ing magazines"??Kira0802 wrote:I kinda follow you discussion but do not follow it...basically, it's about news-ing magazines???
It's just news updates on light novels. Anyway what Doraneko said has a point. And since I have a few things to clear from my plate right now so that I can enjoy my holiday peacefully, I'll let this idea sit in the backlog for a while.

For LN releases, we might as well just use this website for more information, and I trust any official website over an imageboard.

For those who value solid storytelling and appreciate good Japanese writing in their light novels, look no further than the 2011 SF ranking by おすすめ文庫王国2012. Light novels in non-light novels rankings are reviewed by external critics and and are mostly well-written stuff enjoyable by even the non-otaku reading public.
1位「ねじまき少女(上・下)」 パオロ・バチガルピ ハヤカワ文庫SF
2位「プランク・ダイブ」 グレッグ・イーガン ハヤカワ文庫SF
