I find that the Fairy Tail manga is alot better than the anime, but i guess it's a matter of personal taste

Yeah, the music is like listening to Scottish/Irish metal. It reminds me somewhat of Sonata Arctica. Good stuff.

Man the closest relationship I have with Sonata Arctica is being friend with a die-hard fan who attempts to go to all their concerts.

They kind of remind me of a combination of Hoobastank, In Flames, Billy Talent, and Bullet for My Valentine in a way.

Back on topic, I recommend Gas Mask Girl, The Meteor (a little slow though), and Apocalypse Meow.
