This is one of the most atmospheric guitar parts that I have seen in recent game history.

They were much better in concert. Those recordings are of them in concert, but they just do not capture the energy.

Here is another good band.

Yeah, I have heard them before. They are good, but I have heard better. Although it is not quite anime, Swing-holic does some good Touhou covers. Also, we all know about Kanno Yoko's Cowboy Bebop work and the OST for Oh! Edo Rocket. By the way, Kanno Yoko will be doing another jazz-based series this year, I think.

In the meantime, here are a few of songs in whole different direction. More or less, I am trying to learn these songs on guitar right now.

@Hex: I have kind of given up on "Face of Melinda" because the TAB is so horrible. If I worked more on it, I could probably get it, but there are whole sections missing in the song, which makes it kind of pointless. It is a good learning experience though.

Well, at least it is not "Smells Like Teen Spirit." This reminds me of the MTV 1992 Music Video Awards.
Nirvana had wanted to play "Rape Me" during their performance at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards. While MTV initially told the band they could play any song it wanted, it later insisted that the group play "Smells Like Teen Spirit" instead. Hours before the show, Nirvana refused to play. However, due to concerns that the network could boycott other artists on the group's label if the group refused to play the show, Nirvana ultimately settled on performing their then-latest single "Lithium". At the start of the performance, Cobain started playing and singing "Rape Me" instead; he said he did so "just to give [MTV] a little heart palpitation". Panicked, MTV was moments away from switching from the live performance to a commercial when the band segued into "Lithium".
The result:

As you can imagine, MTV was less than happy.

I just find this to be one of Katatonia's best songs ever. It's been stuck in my head for a while now.
