Should cap at around 300 GB. That's about how much I downloaded the last time, I think.

That sounds about right, but if you take out the doujinshi (read pr0n), it becomes much more manageable. I figure that if any of the doujinshi is worth reading, the various translation groups will eventually pick it up.

Alright, Comiket 81 is coming up here in a little over a couple of weeks. Anyone have anything that they have their eye on? For me so far, it is the music and games as usual, but I am also looking forward to a couple of things specifically so far.

First video is awesome O.o I want to try it. Don't like the POV that much so hoping it could be adjusted. Also wonder how exactly the gameplay works eg if you can cut bullets with a sword. Already saw jumping over bullets so that's pretty interesting.

Edit: found the manual: http://ankake.iza-yoi.net/manualC80/manual.htm

You can find the demo of this game online. I think it originally premiered at C78, but I am unsure. I have played the demo. It is a really well-made game, considering that it is a doujin game. My only complaint is that I was never able to be the first boss: Shameimaru Aya. She is exceptionally tough, despite the fact that I have gotten close to beating her several times. I have never seen anyone beat her either.

You have to love the Touhou metal when it is done right. Both of them sound good. My problem with most of the music that comes out of Comiket is that it generally falls into two categories of fail. In other words, the majority of it is bad techno and/or Hatsune Miku/annoying female vocals that all sounds alike. When you hear a rare male vocalist, half of the time he cannot sing for his life. I generally do like the jazz and some of the metal that comes out of Comiket like Swing-holic. My other problem though is that the metal is usually not that well recorded. I can understand this, but it is nice to hear something that does not make me cringe because of the recording quality when it is otherwise good music.

Question: why does everyone seem to cover Touhou music alone for the most part?

One other thing: I wish that I could see the catalog early in English so that I could spot things that look good without spending hours trying to figure everything out for myself.

Here is a video for a game that looks interesting:

I am hoping someone does a KKK cover...the first band did a godly epic gothic metal cover of Dies Irae a while back under the title EINHERJAR.

The best music from Comi are usually metal...

Although I'm looking forward to Trakker. Awsm trance they make and the vocalist has a pretty sweet voice too...their site doesn't seem to have anything scheduled for C81 unfortunately...

Vocaloid is great when it's done right...

That cover came out in C78 or C79, right? I think I might have that floating around somewhere...

Agreed. Sometimes you can find some good orchestral and jazz/blues as well.

As for trance and the like, I just cannot bring myself to like it for the most part because a lot of it is just too repetitive without any sense of direction.

Most Vocaloid is not done right though. I cannot stand Hatsune Miku's voice for the most part, except for a couple of metal songs. The newer versions of Vocaloid are just getting to the level that I can start to think that it sounds somewhat natural, not like nails on a chalkboard.

Most of the Vocaloid I'm referring to is in the style of Japanese folk music...

Also if the BGM doesn't mesh with her voice then it obviously won't sound good

I mean there are some trance mixes that actually work because her voice is that high pitched....it blends in with the ambient electronic style....

Trance....I prefer the ambient kind. Those that create a feel of being in a large empty room or church and gazing up at the summer sky
