You are forgetting. It is kira we are talking about here. I think it came out before he was born, so it is outside of his scope of living. At the very least, I hope he knows who Michael Jackson is...

Oh boy...You probably have heard them. I recommend giving them a listen. They are considered one of the greatest bands of all time. Next thing I am going to here is that people here have never heard or heard of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Metallica, the Beatles, Aerosmith, the Eagles, Rush, AC/DC, Elvis Presley, Deep Purple, Guns n' Roses, Jimi Hendrix, Iron Maiden, Kansas, Kiss, The Ramones, The Who, Queen, Boston, Van Halen, Steely Dan, Judas Priest, etc.

oddly i heard most of those bands but i dislike most of them. I guess they are not techno-y

Look guys, I am not asking you to like them. Half of them that I listed I do not like either, but I at least know some of their stuff or know who they are. My point is that it is not a bad thing to have somewhat of a well-rounded knowledge about some of the "classic" rock bands.
