Editor?

Post by Azelf and Jirachi »

It feels kind of awkward to make this my first post, but I didn't find an introduction board to post in...

Anyway, does this book still need an editor? I'm pretty good at English, though my vocabulary isn't impressive.

All right, just a few questions:

1) Do I have to fill out any forms on the project site, or does the account info from this forum carry over?
2) Is the tense for the book decided?

If the questions are answered on the FAQ pages or something similar, sorry. My head just hurts from school at the moment and I'm too lazy to check everything.

Firstly, you just have to make your presence noted, which is already done once u made this thread, so that is done. Next, they(I said THEY) would evaluate your contributions after some time(Some time, who knows how long), and if you have been doing a consistently good job, they will give you the editor title.

Secondly, the tense is past tense, but I cant work with that, so good luck making all the present tense into past tense should you choose KnS LOLz

you also have to register on the Wiki(well technically, you dont really HAVE to, but if you want to be credited for your work and make any large edits you should register)

also, its a good idea to choose the same name as that of your forum account

we dont need another Krikit and his confusing alias :P

Ah, I was just about to ask that.
All right, thanks. I'll get started soon.

Edit: I have to report any major edits here, right?
Edit 2: Do I put my name into the active editors list myself, or do I wait for someone else to do it?

A1: you dont have to say what your major edits are on the forums, the wiki keeps record of that. but any questions you have, or if there is something your not entirely sure about, post it on the forums.

A2: ummm....how about edit a chapter first, and then if your still up to continue, go ahead and put it on the list

Editors, i know i probably shouldnt be doing something like this but... can current editors do voice out? so i know you guys are out there? There are awaiting edits still on the KnS main page, so i was wondering if they are being worked upon/have been worked upon... once you are done, you can remove the (awaiting edits) part, just so i also know it is considered finished...

P.S. might as well do a staff check now, so editors please voice out~

Voice out? Not sure what that means, but yes, I have to get my ass moving.
I'm going in a linear fashion, and am stuck somewhere in chapter 4 of... Volume 1.
Fine, I'll get started for now.

Can you please stop removing all the parenthesis in the KnS chapters?
It was like that in the Japanese/Chinese raws and it's not that unusual to see inner thoughts between parenthesis even in English.

And I'm gonna say it before another problem arose, don't add parenthesis either.

[Edit]And Daffyd ap Morgen is also removing the parenthesis...
I now remember why I stopped checking KnS edits...

what? removing inner monologue indicators? Why?

Well I won't mind, as long as there is a clear indication between the two.

what are they replacing it with then? brackets? Italic highlights?

:?:

Italic highlights.

But the problem is that there are two kinds of thought: with parenthesis and without parenthesis.
By removing the parenthesis we can't discern them anymore.

But more importantly I don't see any reason to remove the parenthesis since they can also be used this way in English.
In fact what I don't understand is the use of italic since in most books I've read they don't use italic for the thought. It's only at Baka-Tsuki that I've seen that.

come to think of it, you are right.

It's a Haruhi thing.
But we only did that because the author did not clearly define the boundaries of inner monologue and dialogue.

Mind you, If they are determined to go down the italic highlight route, you might as well let them.

Zero no Tsukaima also did the same thing.

As long as they are clearly defined and consistent, then there's no point trying to stop them now, they're pretty much set in their ways.

Too late, I've already put back all the parenthesis for volume 1 :D
And I will do it for volume 2 soon.
