Baccano!

Post by Da Ninja »

Published by Mediaworks, there's... around ten or so books to this series thus far. They don't go by volume number but rather by 'year' in the titles. A friend of mine recently recommended the title to me because of the anime series that has been playing in Japan, but I haven't found any translations for the novels, sadly!

Based in the 1930s, the storyline for Baccano! involves immortal mafia men, bootlegging, and alchemists. O_o; Big 'what the'- right there.

So what say you, Baka-Tsuki? You've been doing such an awesome job with Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu, so I thought why not toss this suggestion in? :D

If you're gonna join just to post a suggestion, at least read the rules . . .

Anyways, I've watched a few eps of the anime and it's completely random.

Not to mention it's about people who
Spoiler! :
can't die . . .
I really don't wanna see the novel unless it's several thousand times better then the anime . . .

The anime wasn't particularly great. (The art was a little bland...that doesn't have anything to do with the manga -_-)

I think Baccano should be translated. It was an excellent anime which unfortunately not many people watched because they based their opinion on only the first episode. The story is interesting and the characters are wonderful. I would love to see the novels translated.

I give this my ultimate 100 votes for "Yes". 8)

I just finished the anime and am craving more of this story. Such originality and awesome caste, this was definitely a sleeper hit in my eyes.

tsk.

rivals.

oh well it was foolish of me to think we were the only ones who would be interested in Novel translating, nor have a monopoly on translators who like these insane stuff.

oh well, at leased they aren't copying us with the wiki format.

although if they did, i could at leased claim "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" curse them!

*think of some elaborate scheme to "voluntary enlist" their translators to Baka-Tsuki*

Or maybe some sort of deal to "host" their translation? After all, we got a lot of novels here anyway, why not add more? that is, if they don't mind. anything to raise the profile of Japanese light novel literature has to be good. :)
