What's up with Slayers?

Post by Hamel »

I know, it's just hosted here, but I was wondering why isn't anyone from around here continuing with this project?
I just love these novels (they are what triggered me going back to reading again) and I would love to at least see the main series (15 volumes) done

If you can read it, why not translate it?

Personally, I am rather curious whether the entire series has ended, or how many volumes are there currently... I only seen the chinese one up to vol 13 so far, for the main series that is. It sure is taking its time.

According to the Japanese wiki, the main story has already ended in 2000 with the publication of vol 15, but the spin-off is still being serialized in the Dragon Magazine.

Yes, I saw that, but I am wondering how updated that is? Personally I am a Slayers fan, so I am kinda wondering that, and whether all of those will get translated.

The latest release as shown in the wiki is vol. 4 of Slayer Smash, published just two months ago. So I'd say the information there is quite updated.

Anyway here is an overview of the franchise. Frankly I think it is too much of a commitment for any publisher to localize the entire series of almost 50 books (and the number is still increasing every few months).

Main story: vol. 1-15 (Completed)
"Special": vol. 1-30 (Completed)
"Smash": vol. 1-4 (Ongoing)

Like Doraneko said, I only read the English releases (Tokyopop's and vol.9) but I would like to see more
as for the amount of books, you forgot one (Delicious, it's only one book)
but the one I want to see translated is at least the main, we have 1-9 translated so just 6 more

According to the Japanese wiki, there are fours books in "Slayers Delicious", published between 1997 and 1999, and all the content are included in the subsequently published "Slayers Special" volumes. That is why I didn't mention them at all in the previous message.

But then I'm not a Slayers fan and haven't read even one single book from the series, so I may be wrong.

You might be right on that, I am just using English information available since I don't know nearly enough Japanese for that

Probably should be in CDZ, but if it is stalled, you can consider it as a request to continue the translations, in that case, its also future project? Either way,i think its better to be brought into attention.

If the project is dead, should it be in Aux Brigades or CDZ? Oh well, first I guess we have to verify its status?

Cognitive Dissonance Zone would be the wrong thread for sure, even if the project is stalled!
