Re: Non Color Images
Well Smidge is a moderator but he is not the project supervisor. it is understandable why you made such mistakes...
And again I think you misunderstood me. I also think that text is much more important and if one would tell me to choose one volume with images and two volumes without images I would go with the later, and yes the images in the project isn't that important at all, however, it is something that can be improved and the guidelines regarding it could be improved. Thats why it became the focus of the discussion, but being that doesn't make it the main thing. Text is still the most important still if there are images, why not take a better use of it,
And placing them together without waiting for the text to finish gives more opportunities.

Re: Non Color Images
Can I get a bullet point list of what the problem/s is/are? Or has this issue been solved already?

Re: Non Color Images
The problem is - inclusion the non-color illustrations together with color ones (like in ZnT or Toradora).
Right now they are kept apart while I see that it would be more convenient to have them stored together and later linking them into the text once the chapter is finished.

Re: Non Color Images
Yes, do it that way. Have all images stored in the Color Illustrations page, then link the ones to the text that are meant to be there while it is being written or when it is complete. I don't see a reason to do it any other way.Darknemo2000 wrote:The problem is - inclusion the non-color illustrations together with color ones (like in ZnT or Toradora).

Re: Non Color Images
Well the arguments against it are 1) Sticking close to original format (even though they are essentially different to begin with), 2) Because Guidelines say so, 3) "Because I say so". As we can see they definitely have 'strong' arguments against it...

Re: Non Color Images
matt said it's fine to put it into the color illustrations. onizuka said the guidelines are lax. the hard part now is not stating the point but rather getting it through to everyone no?
it's not a major change. since judgment needs help with linking images to his text (which i have done at first, followed by someone with wiki user Nielkie), i don't mind. in fact i welcome the change. i'm pretty sure most of us are all flexible. and as onizuka said, it's a novel, not a manga. generally, the text is more important.
so yeah. i'm for you and TGM. doesn't mean i don't like doing it the old way either. it's fine by me.

Re: Non Color Images
With some free time at last, i've promised Darknemo that i will look into this seriously and to answers the concerns he has outlined in the message he sent me.
The General Guidelines are that.
The reasons they are there is to ensure that they do not radically diverse with no sense of formatting or purpose.
However as i said it is a minimum, because i understand only a certain of number of a more dedicated (fanatical?) disposition would enforce this guideline (whom i do try to recruit into the Baka-Tsuki line up)
however for each projects there will always be more attention to others, thus it will usually be them who will be keeping an eye on a project more then the B-T staff who have to divert their attentions on all the projects.
This is why we have specific project guidelines, it can be unfair to force those people who are dedicated to their favourite projects to keep strictly to the general guidelines. And i rather they all agree on a modified and applicable standard themselves, that they are comfortable and able to enforc.
After all we don't have any of that "creationist-it-was-there-first-and-so-it-must-be-perfect" stuff, only strictly evolutionary process please.
If you really wish to have a separate set of standards for this project, you have the opportunity to do so.
You must first create a topic with the title "Spice & Wolf Project specific Guidelines"
You must create a poll, that will have three options:
I Agree with your draft.
I partially Agree (Please Explain)
I Disagree with your Draft (Please Explain)
Please make these votes changeable with a minimum voting time of 30days.
You must then publish your draft guidelines in that thread.
You must wait a minimum of 30 days for results and debate from other editors and readers.
If you have won a majority of votes then you can publish and enforce those project specific guidelines.
If you lose a majority of votes or the outcome is uncertain, or you do not receive a minimum number of votes (No less then Ten) then you must resubmit the draft again.
Yes it's alot of red tape, but we aren't in a hurry an it won't be wiki-commie socialistic if we didn't have alot of red tape.
As for your final point:
Proposal of change to the General Guideline is more or less the same process yet it would require a longer period: 6 months minimum.
As this will affect ALL the projects, and must be give the chance for all those involved to have a chance to read and debated the proposal.
As mentioned previously, i like to have at lease a minimum standard. We still have more votes 'for' than 'against'. So how about making a poll about changing the guidelines, so that it would not separate non color images from color ones. Basically because it would turn out more convenient for the users (some wish to look only at images and having them all in one place would help with that, though it may be look like the case of "stealing focus from the text, it may also attract possible translators/editors of the project specially if the actual text translations do not reach far).

As for your final point:
You cannot really treat ZnT which is the second biggest and second most popular project as marginal, nor Toradora, Kaze No Stigma or others. Basically the half of projects do not follow this part of Haruhi-based guidelines, so I think it can be rational to actually change the guidelines in general. Or at least make a poll about it. If it would only be mine opinion then of course it may be ignored but it isn't.

Re: Non Color Images
GTO I do not want to change overall SaW guidelines i just want to bring in a correction with uploading images system. A good example how current system is not working so well is SaW first volume neither of the chapters have images even if some were uploaded some time before and while you can say that the uploads are still recent , compare it with Toradora where once the chapter is uploaded the image is included almost in an instant, because translator does not have to bother uploading an image (nor to have it) neither do editors which allows for the chapter to gain better look much more quickly..Well anyways I guess i should make a poll about these very specific changes in the guidelines, concerning SaW for now, but i do think taht genral Guidelines should be changed accordingly.

Welcome to bureaucracy. No valid wiki-communist socialistic state can claim to be one, without it. The more red tape the better.TheGiftedMonkey wrote:All that for just a bit more color in our lives.

First of all, no.
Second of all, thats clearly ribbon because of the way it is cut and the fact that the end isn't adhereing to the rest of the roll like tape does.
Sorry for being an ass.
