larethian wrote:Hazue, you transcribed it wrongly, it's "うるさいしうざいし", even though うざい, a largely colloquial term, seems to come from うるさい, it has a ruder, more vulgar, and more belittling feeling. If I'm not wrong, うるさい literally means noisy and also implies annoying/annoyance from "too much noise", while うざい can encompass more diverse forms of annoyances. See this: http://zokugo-dict.com/03u/uzai.htm

Hikari's translation is correct in the literal sense. She's not aware that the speaker is making an affirmation to the previous speaker's observation and the entire context of the discussion. So it's best you transcribe the entire sentence and describe the context, or upload the page if needed. Or send Hikari the raw links, since she will be helping you most of the time.

I would translate the entire sentence to something like this:
ね、なんかやたらアツく語り合っててうるさいしうるざいし、キモいもん堂々と教室で広げてるし―
"Yeah, their conversations are somewhat overly passionate, they're also noisy and goddamn annoying, and their grossness is contaminating the entire classroom as well."

Note that I tried to translate the meaning based on the context rather than the words so I took liberties and you won't find exact translations for some words.
you save the world once again. thanks

YoakeNoHikari wrote:Yeah, the meaning between Larethian's translation and mine is so different, Larethian's being correct, of course. It's hard to get the exact meaning when there's no context.

Also, I neither know what series nor have the raws. Giving me the page number is the equivalent of me telling you the first letter of my name.

Which would be D.
now i'm curious of your name.

well. i was kinda lazy so i just simply put a single sentence, my bad. well, i will put on more words to make the context clearer next time.

p.s. lare, i just read mahouka part 2 from chinese translation. darn, i understand the story and details but translating all of them is too hard for me because of too descriptive. (thus i won't translate mahouka, not until my english is internationally graded as very good)
i had also skim through part 3 by my own in raw. and i laughed at tatsuya.

What does 一コ下 or 上 mean? In this context: http://itaishinja.com/archives/3106686.html

I wouldn't look at it at work, but it's not NSFW.

That's what I translated it as. Lucky me ^^

Thanks.

On a side note, is 5 pages normally supposed to be 10 kb?

just curious, it says "2学年下". does it mean the same for middle school, high school, or even college?

I can't make any sense of the last two sentences in this paragraph.

朝っぱらからぬいぐるみに起こされるなんて、まるで悪夢だ。他人が見たらどうしたのかと思われる。目覚ましがあるんだから、お前は白粛しろ。

Thanks in advance

I think that's supposed to be 自粛.

Something like:

"Being woken up by a stuffed animal early in the morning, it's like a bad dream. Think about what would happen if someone else saw this. I've got an alarm clock, so just behave yourself."

Though I don't know what the relationship between that character and the stuffed animal is or what their personalities are like so it likely needs to be tweaked.

女はぼうっとした様子のまま身体を起こすと、垂れていた前髪を鬱陶しげにかき上げた。
Thanks in advance.

Still zoning out, the woman picked herself up, sweeping up her dangling fringe as if it were irritating her.

I can explain it to you if there's a particular part you don't understand.

Sure, I'll take you up on that offer.

I understand up to the comma, but then when I ran the second part through wwwjdic I got
鬱陶しげ 【うっとうしげ】 (adj) blue; dark; dingy; disconsolate; dismal; gloomy; grim; sorry; drab; drear; dreary; JWN

Possible inflected verb or adjective: (plain, past)
書き上げる 書き上げる(P); 描き上げる; 書きあげる 【かきあげる】 (v1,vt) to write out or down; to finish writing; (P); ED
and I couldn't piece together what it was supposed to mean "dismally write down her bangs"?!?!?

Maybe I should be checking Japanese dictionaries as well instead of relying on wwwjdic, but the problem is that then I end up having to check up what the words in the definitions means... OTL

It's the same thing, just a different kanji.

Like 分かる, and 判る. Like 笑う, and 嗤う. Like 言う, and 云う.
