Sound words

I'm doing v9c4 of toradora and I'm stumped as to how to translate the sound of sandals. The original sound words are カロン、コロン (karon, koron). The best word I can think of is thud, but it's too heavy a sound to be used in this context. Any ideas, guys?

Are they wooden or rubber sandals?

'Clunk Clunk' is the best sound effect that comes to mind for me when I think of wooden sandals.

Yeah I was going to go with clank until I looked it up in a thesaurus and realised that it's actually used for metallic sounds -_- Oh well, I decided to go with clank in the end because it sounds nice.

WAIT. I just realized that thegiftedmonkey suggested clunk, not clank -_- Which makes perfect sense. I personally don't like asymmetrical combinations, especially for sound, but thanks for the interesting suggestions ron :)

What about "clack"?

Clack would work better for a sandal. Clunk would be for a heavier wood, possibly a clog.

The original text just writes sandal in katakana, so I really don't know what kind of sandals they are -_-

Spoiler! :
So Taiga found out she's wearing Yasuko's slip-on. Is it too big for her that she had to shuffle her feet and drag the sandals on the asphalt? That might explain the "karon, koron' sound for wood-soled slip-ons, or possibly the "shiffle, shuffle" sound for rubber-soled slip-ons.

Sorry for necroing an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new thread and my question is about sound words anyway. What sound word would you guys use when someone swallows saliva? I'm using 'gulp' right now, but it sounds a little too heavy.

Edit: One more. Is 'snap' or 'click' better to describe the taking of a picture? I'm using 'snap' for now.
