Dunno if I am right, but I think it should be something like this:

Though s/he thought this far, s/he couldn't think that s/he wasn't able to explain.

It's awesome how different everyone's interpretation is, I went with "This guy wasn't thinking anything up until there, is he not thinking about the unexplainable?"

Yeah, I think that sentence is more on how you interpret it, nothing outrageous only various ways of interpreting, as it looks like it an "Open Sentence"

Nura was the closest.
He may have thought of such a thing but he wasn't thinking about the part where he would be unable to explain it, was he?

To:
Kuratatsu, the first part isn't negative

^ Thanks Kuro, that was the part I was unsure of, I learn something new everytime I come here. Oh and your translation is so liberal and smooth, like butter  . I can only do literal since I don't know what is allowed or not.

I have a translation question of my own. Figured I'd ask it here instead of in a new thread :p.

I came across 肩すかしを食ったのか, and have no idea how to understand this or translate it. I am currently suspecting that it is an expression used in Japan. Any help with this?
From what I am literally reading "did he eat the dodge / parry?"

肩すかしを食ったのか、彼があからさまに表情を落胆させる。 is the full sentence. As far as I'm understanding the second half it would be something to the effect of "it was obvious from his expression that he was disappointed."

What do you think? Feedback on the second half is perfectly fine as well. I need more exposure / experience regardless.

Thanks in advance!

If it helps:

There's actually a bunch of definitions on 肩透かしを食う online but I'm not even going to try and decipher them .

Context would be required to translate that smoothly. However, it's just an expression for being disappointed

肩すかしは元々相撲用語です。
相手が攻め込んできたところを体をかわして受け流すこと。
一般的には意気込んでやろうとしたことが駄目になった場合などに
「肩すかしを喰う」と言います。
たとえば明日は運動会。良いところを見せようと張り切っていたら
当日は雨で肩すかしに終わった。

I've got a couple of things I don't get...Thanks in advance :D

頂の見えぬ無知蒙昧な者どもは、強い力を全てレベル7として扱いますが、だからといって、わたしと並び立てると勘違いした道化などは疎ましく目障りです . I get the gist of this sentence, but I'm struggling to find a way to put it in English.

おごってあげるんじゃなかったです . I'm not sure what this means :?

緊急招集では授業が免除され、希望すれば補講を受けることができ,内申では高く評価され、所属するだけでも高額の報酬が支払われます。 I don't really get the meaning of the bolded bit.

Thanks!

With nothing to go on, here goes:

First sentence: "Those unenlightened ones who can't see the real picture see all strong powers as Level 7; even so, that misunderstood antic to include me with them is totally uncalled for.

Second question: Base is probably "おごる", meaning "to be proud/haughty". I guess the talker is saying that he didn't made someone proud.

Third phrase: "Confidential reports will be treated as such (i.e. treated with utmost confidentiality and be highly valued)"
まず隗より始めよ。

Ignorant fools, who have never seen the top, treat all strong/great powers as Level 7s, however-while that may be true- misguided antic of putting me as an equal to them is an unpleasant eyesore.

おごってあげる would be to give someone a treat

Hmm, could you double check the third line? And, context too.
