Yeah, we covered novel chapter 1 with manga chapter 3. Most of the things are kept intact, some things may have to be rephrased because it is in manga and not novel and vice versa, but it should still provide good reference.

Keep up the good work Krikit! ^^

Onii-chan :)

page 68 in the J-novel.

"Onii-chan, we finally meet!"

EDIT:

PS, BtTC, I'm sending out the manga tomorrow. Give it around a week, and you should get the scans for Volume 1+2. If you want to start on volume 2, as it seems Shadow won't be doing that one, that would be sweet :)

I'll try to have the novels translated around the same prose, so we can kind of help each other with translations as we go along. :)

Okay, it is really dumb... But thanks to Aika, i realized something that i may have done wrong...

Krikit, can i check with you?
Aika calls everyone senpai and stuff...
Yuuya calls Jin Jin-kun?
Even Sierra calls everyone -san and stuff?
So... is it wrong that we keep refering to Zadou as Zadou? without -san and stuff?
(If it is wrong, then we will have to edit ALL our texts? >"<)

P.S. when is it -kun or -san? or does it not really matter?

Hmm...I've been looking, and Yuuya calls Jin "Jin." Aika, idk yet, but she does call Jin "onii-chan". Sierra is called -sama by alot of people, but I've been reading again to check, and nobody says "Zadou-sama" or something like that. It's just plain "Zadou."

I can assume it's probably because they are usually referring to her family, lineage, the house, etc. Not necessarily addressing her indvidually. They may say "Sierra-sama" but I have yet to see a "Zadou-sama".............

I think it's okay the way it is so far.....but I'll keep checking.

Thanks... because it seems kind of weird to me...
It seems polite and show close-ness when you use terms like kun, san, chan, or even sama.
Yet when they call Zadou, there is no such terms. Yet they are refering to their Sierra-sama at the same time.
For example, if Aika is to call Sierra Zadou, won't she have to say "Zadou-senpai"? or "Zadou"?
Similarly, since they are classmates, isnt it a little rude to call "Zadou" instead of "Zadou-san" or something? =X

They all still call her Sierra-sama, that's what I'm finding. They don't say "Zadou" while talking directly to her, they say "Sierra-sama." So when they talk about her, they say "Zadou."

Maybe I'm wrong...if you can point out where someone addresses Sierra directly, and calls her "Zadou" that would help.

Here's my answer though. In Japanese, honorifics are usually said TO the person you're talking with. When addressing Sierra, you say "Sierra-sama," but when talking about her, you may just say her name, first or last, without honorifics, because you're not actually talking TO the person, but about them...at least that's what I'm getting from it....But that's not do all end all. Some people talk about others while using honorifics, but usually that's because they use "polite speech" for the person they are talking to. If they are friends talking about someone, then they may disregard the honorifics, which is what I'm seeing.

Hmm....lol, Japanese :)

Maybe Vaelis should put at the B-T page,
"If you enjoy the manga, feel free to read the original novel at Baka-Tsuki"
And maybe add a link to Krikit's PuiPui translation? haha!

I'm one of the users there and it's language is Indonesia (and yes, the biggest forum in our country/Kaskus have a thread for puipui! too).

You guys are super.
Keep up the good work. :D

I'm glad to see this foray into the manga side of translating is going so well. 8) I have off from school this week so I may work on getting us a manga section of the forum. I was also playing with some advertising ideas like BT signatures and Avatars.

Well thank you!!
And sorry for taking that forums out like that, especially since as i mentioned, i couldnt understand a thing! >"<

For us, i guess it was a big surprise, since it really didnt start off with intentions of such popularity. Yet it seems awfully popular to everyone. Too bad, so far it is only up to vol 2. and that is not my area of work no more ^^

Okay, the chant.

ちちんぷいぷい

First off, I'll start by saying it is a no-nonsense bunch of Jibberish, similar to Dokoro's pipirupipirupipiru pi!!!

However, as for why the book is called "puipui!" and why the chant is "chichinpuipui," it's quite interesting.

For one, I'm going to start by saying the author perhaps has watched quite alot of MBS TV. Why? There is a TV Program in Japan based in Osaka, with the title:

ちちんぷいぷい

So there are only two things in this world that have this name. One is an MBS TV Program, the other is a chant in a book with the title: ぷいぷい.

Coincidence? Probably...:)

http://sonofamaria.multiply.com/video/i ... arlobes...

This is an example of what kind of things are "aired" by the station. They seem to be some an Interviewing Program, as I wrote in a previous post, uncertainly.

But the main point of interest here is that the chant that is supposed to be said, is the same as the name of a TV Program in Japan. Consider it similar to saying something like "Toradora!" as a chant. It sounds like a chant, but it also has a deeper meaning. (It's a light novel series, and recent anime. 1 manga volume out.) It's the same kind of concept. The chant is just propaganda for the TV Program. (which apparently people are in love with...Mixi shows over 7,000 people in it's community...O_o)

But yeah, that's the story behind the chant :)
