older name (newer name) like sendan (lightening cut) and Snake Fall (Hebi Otoshi)
or something along the lines of japanese name (english name). this will change Snake Fall (Hebi Otoshi) into Hebi Otoshi (Snake Fall)
My thought is which one we use depends on the technique.
please explain further.

Actually, which ones I left in English and which I left in Japanese were based upon discussions at the time we did the discussion on translations. Some of them come out awkward in English and others really don't translate from Japanese to English well. If you peruse the names and terminology forum, you could see some of the decisions made. On occasion, some weren't discussed and everyone went with what I recommended though.

External-type burst Kei (Gairyoku Kei Shoukei). for this name the english name should be sufficient, right? i mean the sense and feeling of the technique is adequately conveyed by the english name and nothing is added by the japanese name nor is it common.

Yes the English version of that should be used. It's a type after all.

Hey guys, just wanted to ask something menial here:

「なにが、どうなってるんですか?」
「……エア・フィルターに守られたこの都市世界が、自然のものじゃないってことぐらいは、わかるな」

How do you translate 都市世界? Terminology wise, should it be world city?

P.s: i'll definitely have the finished chapter up by today
"Sabin, you're alive!"
"[laughs merrily] But of course! You think a minor thing like the end of the world was gonna do me in?

This translation is more flavor based. 世界 is not being used for a city identifier, but appears to be encompassing all of the cities. Similarly, 世界各国{せかいかっこく} is countries all over the world. So in this case, cities around the world?

Anyone know what 阿库亚苏 (Chinese phonetics - pronounced Akyasu/Ekyasu) is? I'm guessing it's a person, but I don't remember anyone by that name. It appears twice in the last chapter of Volume 10.

Aha. That makes a lot more sense, grammatically and contextually. Sucks to be unable to read the original Japanese. Thanks, xstar!

Actually, I just thought of something to help out our Chinese->English translators. Would it be feasible for someone to cross reference names/terms and add them to the data-base in Chinese?

I'm assuming that the Chinese texts are consistent and the Japanese->Chinese translators don't mislabel terms often or make typos with them though.

The Chinese texts that I reference occasionally change the characters in the names (though they usually have the same pronounciation). I'll add the names to the page as I find them.

Also, there are two last names revealed in Volume 15 Chapter 2 that aren't in the database. Winse (ウィンス) and Leu (レウ). I initially guessed Winse Karud and Leu Matthew as romanizations, but it's definitely more reliable if you take a look at them.

Winse Karald (ウィンス・カラルド)
Leu Matthew (レウ・マーシュ)

Your translation of Leu's surname was spot on.

Also, I noticed that one of the names, the person who brings them the cake, is named Selina Vin (I had no idea she worked for Karian). Going through and editing the text.

Thanks. I also noticed that I misspelled Layfon's last name, oops.

Are you sure about that person being Selina? That chapter (v15c2) states that she's a fifth-year and Karian's assistant, but Volume 8 Diamond Passion calls Selina a fourth-year Alchemy student.

「あ、先輩」
「これ、会長から差し入れ」
セリーヌが示したのは、ケーキの箱だ。

Oops, misread the last kana. It directly reads as Seri-nu. The term, cuisine is written as キュイジーヌ with the same ending, so I guess it's read as Seline?

Going to go back through the chapter and redoing that name. Also, any idea on her last name?

*Edit: Keeping those two names separate in the future is going to be a pain. Should I go with an alternate spelling? I stuck in this tentative name just to make sure there's no confusion until it's all finalized.
