That's weird 'cuz I feel like someone convinced me with the other spelling, not that I've spelled it out like that though.2nd Octopus wrote:to the Nerve Gear/NERv Gear issue:

this picture from Volume 3 of the Light Novel says Nerve Gear. Unless "NERvGear" is used somewhere in the Japanese raws, I think we should stay with "Nerve".

I have a suggestion. Why not rename "Chapter 3" in the main page to "Chapter 3(and 4)" ?

Re: Sword Art Online
You're welcome. It's my responsibility to answer the questions from the fellow SAO fans because I'm a fan too.><Thank you very much for the reply, tom. Also, 2 more questions if you don't mind:
1. In the novel vol. 7 summary, it says that the Absolute Sword appeared in Aincrad, but the game is ALO. So, SAO merged with ALO or something?
2. Alicization is the latest arc in the web version, right? Is it the final arc, like, does SAO end after that arc?
Sorry for asking so many questions. Thanks in advance.

Once again, thank you so much for your answers, tom.
I hope Kawahara-sensei will just end it after Alicization, though. Somehow it scares me when a light novel series is getting dragged/too long. Especially since Alicization is a very long arc, I can not imagine the possibility of how long will the next arc be.
And I hope we will get an anime adaptation before the first volume of Alicization gets printed and officially published.

I don't think the fan-base has grown exponentially or anything, it's just that when somebody or a group of people start taking serious action and organize the project, it's much easier for the effort to gain momentum. When you have a single dedicated translator + an editor, this is sometimes effective, but an organized group will likely draw a lot more participation.Shiroux wrote:is it just me or does SAO suddenly gain lot of popularity? the translators just keep on coming...lol

Another thing is, I think Sharramon was a bit too efficient when translating Volume 1 (though I still appreciate it greatly). Thanks to that, there didn't seem to be a need for anybody else; it was Sharramon's project, basically. (and the pace was so ridiculous, others might've been a burden rather than help)

What's with the Volume SS - Laughing Coffin Guild Arc?
Another side story volume?

It's a side-story published by Kawahara-san on his web site but not in the book version.

Re: Sword Art Online
Chapter 1 of Morning Dew Girl's done at last...
Main reason why I'm translating it now, is that I planned to do it a few months ago, before getting ninja-ed by two other translators that didn't do much.
Then I got busy with life and now my schedule's free again.
The context given was that it was shown in a CNN report on the killing tool, "NERVGEAR".
The reading of "NERvGear" is probably based off "NERv Direct Linkage Environment System" (sourced from the author's site), or "NERDLES", which is probably translated as "Full Dive" by Sharramon from the Korean edition?
It's supposedly the back-end technology that allows the all VR functionalities in the story.
Edit: Confirmed that NERDLES was translated as FULLDIVE somehow. Should we change everything to follow the Japanese naming?

There was a mention of "NERVGEAR" on the web edition's volume 4 (ALICIZATION), chapter 10, I believe.Sacrifarz wrote:just wondering

which is more appropriate?

Thanks for finishing ch.1 of Morning dew girl!
There is a thing which seems strange there.
There is a thing which seems strange there.
Is it really "her heart" here? The context (wondering in the forest, psychiatrists...) suggests that "her head" would be more appropriate...Asuna leapt towards the worst possible conclusion. Maybe, the reason why she was wandering in that forest, and faded into unconciousness, was due to some problem caused by the condition of her heart. Of course, there are no psychiatrists in Aincrad, neither were there any system administrators to seek aid from.

Mind, right.
When I get on a translating streak, I tend to start translating things too literally.
Essentially, the kanji, "心" was used, which can mean both.
