Synopsis from Anime news Network

The story follows Issei Hyōdō, a dim-witted, lecherous second-year high school student who is killed by a girl on his first date ever. Issei is reincarnated as a devil, and from that day forward, he serves as an underling of Riasu, a high-level devil who is also the prettiest girl on Issei's campus.

looks pretty Interesting and has a future anime project in the works

no, it's one Fujimi Shoubo's fantasy LNs. Has up till 8 volumes with 9 upcoming. strangely I can't find the Japanese wiki.

right now it's one of the current forerunners in dragon magazine, and actually vol 9 is already out it came out on April 20th.

That's why I didn't find it at the beginning too. Went to baidu and searched 'dxd' and no results. Then, I googled the author's name and found it.
