Re: Hidan no Aria [Aria the Scarlet Ammo]
To be honest, this series makes me rage. I can't understand why the characters do half the things they do and more importantly why the main character puts up with all the abuse. That being said, I have to know how things develop in the way bystanders have to watch a train wreck to its logical conclusion.
So thank you for picking up the translation again.

Personally, I don't understand too.Mobile_Blues wrote:To be honest, this series makes me rage. In the novels translated so far, does Kinji ever tell Aria about hysteria mode, because that is the major source of my frustration. I learned to go with the flow for I.S because ichika is an idiot, but I have a harder time with HnA because Kinji who is a bit dense isnt''t full blown lady proof.
Half the conflict in the series would vanish if he just told her.

He tried to tell her once, but he didn't get the chance to do so. Just look at it this way, you have one huge secret, and it may be used against you, you'd try to keep it from everyone else, especially when things are just fine and the current circumstance doesn't require it to be revealed. After all, it's a novel, if all "ifs" that everyone suggested happened, it'll be a boring novel.Mobile_Blues wrote:In the novels translated so far, does Kinji ever tell Aria about hysteria mode, because that is the major source of my frustration. Fair enough. Saying I'm going to turn off my brain would be an insult to people who really like the series. Clearly, based on my gripes I'm not part of HnA's target demographic, but I can remember when I was. I'll just turn off the parts of me that are overly critical....getting old is scary.

You should try reminiscing your youthful days while reading HnA then, maybe you'll enjoy it and feel nostalgic at the same time. xD By the way, I suggest you register a BT forum account, it'll be more convenient to reply to posts, etc.Mobile_Blues wrote:Fair enough. Is Kira doing TLC for this? Editing is quite a bit easier when you're looking at English-only changes.

I created a link for this forum on the main wiki page of the project. I found it odd that one wasn't already there and got tired of having to go to forum and then find this thread each time.

I have a question about the current translation efforts. I noticed that both of the current translators for the project will be doing CN > EN. Will you be conforming to the current naming standards which are based off of the Japanese, or do you intend to just plug it in however it comes out from the Chinese translation?

What does TLC mean? I'm a newb, sorry.Hiyono wrote:Is Kira doing TLC for this? Editing is quite a bit easier when you're looking at English-only changes.

I don't quite get what you mean, of course I'd conform to the current naming standards, there are some exceptions though, like the GIII and GIV(I prefer it this way...). I'd try get the names as accurate as possible.Catchfraze wrote:I have a question about the current translation efforts. Re: Hidan no Aria [Aria the Scarlet Ammo]
TLC = Translation check. It basically refers to quickly double-checking the translation itself (making sure there aren't missing lines, etc.) rather than wording, spelling, or grammatical changes.
It goes without saying that editing (in the sense of changing the English phrasing) is much faster if TLC has already been done previously, though for the moment I've been doing both.
Incidentally, do any of the Japanese readers know how GIII addresses Kinji? The various forms of address are all lost in translation when shifting to Chinese.
