Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei - The Anime

Just when thought it couldn't get any better, life just keeps handing out cookies.

I recently changed jobs, so I'll be able to resume my feverish pace again. Now I get the news that there will be an anime......

I distinctively recall that I said I would retire once the anime comes out, but I just. Can't. Stop. Smiling.

I really don't think the company producing the anime would make such drastic changes like that. Considering how popular Mahouka is they would get destroyed by pissed off fans if they blatantly made changes like that.

There is always hope. Like I said in my previous post I've seen it before though never when it has been such central part of the story. If that is there current plans, assuming that is a correct translation, lets hope the japanese netizen thrash them good.

I'd say it's most likely just a misunderstanding. They're siblings and are in the same year. Someone who just picked up the news to write as a job without knowing much on the actual series (which is what ANN is most of the time) would logically make the assumption.

On the subject of what they are going to do with the anime.

I expect that they are going to try to finish each episode with a action or romantic type of cliffhanger i.e. among the candidates for ending the first couple of episodes are the Miyuki wanting to trounce Mizuki and Erika at first meeting, the morning training ambush, the Bloom/Weed confrontation and the Miyuki in underwear scene.

I also believe that they might be using some of the material from Yuutosei and spice up some of the slower parts of the first arc by showing more of Tatsuya being ambushed during club recruitment week.

Interesting thought, not sure how practical it would be in the long run. It feels a bit cheap as well, to use many cliffhangers to get people to watch next week. It is like the overall story isnt strong enough to make people wanting to watch next week without holding them hostage with a cliffhanger. Normal usage when they align with the pace isnt much of an issue but to put in as many as possible, not to sure about that.

Going to see if my old account still works over there, havent really tried the past 7-8 years of its inactivity.

Nope it was very much dead, had such an early creation date too, boohoo.

What I'm worried about is how they are going to animate the -sometimes pages long- technical jargon, especially the bits that are in the middle of fight scenes.

My guess is they'll go for a mini theater thing after each episode with a chibi miyuki (rest of the female cast or something taking turns) explaining any major thing from an info dump pov. Naturally I hope they will let the actual explanations stay within the story as much as possible. Then again, depending on how long and how much of it they plan on adapting could influence how the deal with it as well.

If I had to storyboard the thing- volume 1 ends up as about 4 eps.

ep1: Introduction of MCs, blooms/weeds, highschool, ends with confrontation between weeds/blooms - Morisaki.
ep2: concludes fight, introduces CADS, joins student council ends with square off with Hattori.
ep3: Hattori roflstomped, explaination on how he was beat, festival shenanigans (Erica fanservice), Kihara/Sayaka fight begins.
ep4: More festival shenanigans (Tatsuya attacked) introducing Blanche, Sayaka talks to Tatsuya weed/bloom discussion.

Do you guys think that's the pace it should be going at? Too fast/slow?

I say guess but I suppose it is just a personal wishlist doomed to fail

To be extended next time I get bored and lack things to do at work.
Someone I'd kill to see is Mamiko Noto (though I want to see/hear her in every series I watch).
What would make me laugh good would be if Jouji Nakata and/or Norio Wakamoto would do some character.
