Wasn´t it supposed to have several laps? How will they climb back to the upper part of the slide?

They probably go the other direction.

That is crazy, yet interesting :). Though I am not so sure (in that case there is the ramp-like thing they would have to jump up). From where is the picture, the anime? If so it is propable they changed it to one-lap style.

EDIT: Just waatched the anime and I still have zero idea how they do it. They were racinng according to my original predictions (so they would have to go the slide as usually), but as they cut it in the straight area before they go to the slide I don´t know. How do they go up the long curved slide? It is possible that there is a hint somewhere in the image, but I seriously don´t see anything like a ramp to it there.
By the way, are there using some kind of magic to cause the water to stay on the short ramp? If they did it would interfere with the magics of the contestants, wouldn´t it? But if they were using purely physicall means they would have to pump insane amounts of water up there in order for it to have some depth.

Just pause right after Mari lands, when you get a camera image. There's a long ramp.

And while you see her going up the short ramp, you can also see the water going upwards.
So magic will be the only option, since there is no sign at the start of the ramp that the current goes fast enough to push the water up the ramp.

That would indeed mean that the magic on the water would interfere. But there is no need to use magic on the water in that area, since the current is already in your favor. So the contestants could continue with just movement type magic.

Ah about the ramp you are right.

Amyway, wouldn´t they need some seriously good magician with insane psion count to sustain that kind of magic? It seems like the ramp is permanently covered by water even before the match starts and the amount of water is quite large... sustained type of magic with this strength, it would need someone like Miyuki or stronger and even then they would be half-dead after the competition. I don´t think this is too realistic sight (in the light of this novel´s style).
By the way, Mari seems to be using magic on the water to propel herself ahead (Tatsuya states she is Multicasting 3-4 magics, that would cost her too much if all were aimed at herself because of their interference). And also they need the most they can get from their magic, because they are climbing, which should be slowing them down anyway.

Episode 11 disappointed me quite a bit. They cut out so much and they even made Fujibayashi look like some kind of assistant. I hope they make the next few episodes better or I'll probably drop this anime. I was being tolerant with what they were cutting out before but now it's just getting ridiculous.

Yeah, well I expected them to slow it down around this part (and that they are speeding just to make enough time for NSC) but it was too hasty even now. I can´t really say I like their style of 5 seconds per scene. Well the really heated parts start now, so lets hope it gets better (lets futilely hope).

Mahouka 13 was... downright disappointing. It is true, that picturing inferno is one hell of hard thing, so this was understandable, but even for the other magics... it was weak. Not even speaking about the fact, that they put too much of emotions and impact into less important scenes (like the discussing of his name not being revealed and again the Weed, Bloom, which according to me wasn´t supposed to be present almost at all at this point). Well it isn´t like they ommited something important (except of explanations of the magic) but their depicturing of it and the atmosphere of it was... just lame.

The Nine Schools Competition Arc has been quite amusing in a way...

Even while they are talking about how important the engineering is, they barely show any of it - that was particularly obvious when hey were discussing the lack of engineers in #12, given the cut ins we see to the various other competitors and engineers, they dont actually cover what was said or done there - which is the engineering itself (while in the LN we read that it is rather impressive).

Amusingly the anime focuses on the strategic discussions, events themselves and the relationships between people yet either glosses over or omits the very thing that is the subject of their discussions and is being stated is so important, the Engineering.

Yeah, by the way, has anybody else noticed, that when Tatsuya was being tested (few episodes ago) he should have been reeding raw "strings of code" but he was reading it in binary system, which is completely stupid and meaninglessly time comsuming thing to do? I know they tried to make it seem more advanced, but there is seriously no point in reading it this way. Even if you understod it, single line would take about 8 or even 16 (considering japanese that might be even 24) times the space normal text would, so no matter how fast you read it you will be slower than if you just let the computer translate it to strings. The only reason somebody would do it this way is to boast about his ability to do so, but considering all of them are engeneers and they should understand at least this it was... well stupid and meaningless.

I may need to rewatch all the previous episodes but it seems that so far they cut out all the inner monologues. Unlike the LN we aren't aware of the characters thoughts. For example Mayumi was not as calm as she appears in her match with Tatsuya watching her. The pacing is also too fast. If I have to rate the anime so far I'd say it's average compared to the LN which are awesome.

On the bright side, they didn't pull a Mahou Sensou... although because of how bad I heard that anime was compared to the LN I feel an urge to read the LN. Can't wait for the next episode though, I hope the ice break finals happen :D
