What really interests me is if vol 15 really is over 50% complete, and how that would be affected by licensing policies (i.e. would it count as being able to be pushed out before Sept? or does all the work get washed?)
Well since its in October the official is set to release which is 7 months away. Way over the by 3 months rule, it should be able to get publish here right? I mean it's over 50% complete already and there's so much time too.

Ah I see, I get the time line limit, but then there are also the translator rules which are under the cessation rules, not sure how those will go about affecting the translators since they were translating vol 14 already at the time of licensing.

I do have the book for 15 and may work on that somewhere else. I'm no where near as fast as the people here since I've neglected my Japanese studies for a long time. I may work on 15 and then 16 when it does come out, but I won't go any further than that. Can say I'm wanting to finish the fight by knowing who is going to succeed the Yotsuba.

Even thou we are greedy (forgive me there people. Just think of it as me speaking for myself only), if we get it up to there, most grateful we would be. I'm sure we will find some other alternative by that time...

Sorry I'm like hounding this thread (I swear it's just sitting open on my laptop that's why I'm on here all the time).

Anyway I'm hearing word floating around that only the first few arcs (enrollment, 9SC, yokohoma, reminiscence, and the yuutosei manga) are being licensed? Does that mean the rest of the series aren't licensed (visitor, double seven, stepplechase, ancient city, and succession)? If someone can clarify this that'd be great :D

When you say arcs, you mean of the LN? You can license only part of a series? If so then I want to believe what you have just stated.

Please provide links... Official, and not forums if possible. I checked YP TW and FB accounts but no detail is provided or in the "official" announces linked from there.

I'll never translate stuff that's licensed. I feel like my life is being wasted in doing that. I'll just focus on doing niche stuff from now on.
I'm having 2nd thoughts of doing Alderamin now because I think it's going to become a cult hit if there's an anime for it and YP is sure to license it as well.
Going back to Itsuten probably. :D
Larenthian, how is it that we stumble across the same titles? I too came across Alderamin and thought that was a project worth considering. Then Mahouka up and got licensed...

So, all the translators will abandon the project?

V14 Afterword won't be translated? What about the translations already started for V15?

because we are awesome people!

Jokes aside, i did not stumble. already knew the title for 1 year+. Have been scouting for translators since then and found 1 last year

most recent event in the story depressed me alot though...

No, the argument that was made was that if mahouka was to have a sequel then the sequel would not fall into the license agreement and translation could continue. Basically a repeat of Index NT, where the initial serialization was licensed after the sequel came out.

Hi I am also a big light novel and manga fan like you,I read mahouka koukou no rettousei at Baka-tsuki and today when I thought I should check how much of volume 14 has been translated I was shocked to read yen press has licensed it and it would be erased, I was really sad since I live in another country so that means I can not read it anymore even if new volumes are released, Then I read the Abandonment Policy , so according to it if author does not work on series for one year or declare that he had halted working on it or of series is completed then after that it can reinstated again for translation project I hope you can help me, It is a great series and if possible I would like to continue reading it as each volume is released.
