Any date for the anime's beginning?
Posted in the other thread but oh well :)

Well, with so little out I'm just going to guess but summer or fall season 2014.
Biggest IF is probably how many episodes they are planing to make. I can see some alternatives. We get a 24-26 ep split-cour covering vol 1-4 or just a 12 ep for vol 1-2 to test the water. Simply put, how much confidence they got in making an adaption the fans will like. If it is high I think, at least hope, we get a longer over two seasons covering the first 4 volumes, if it is low they might go with one seasons covering just the first bit. Worst case scenario, for me anyway, is that they will endup trying to squeeze as much as possible into a 24-26 ep thing.

Can not let go of how horrible Kimi no Iru Machi was, good example of trying to squeeze in to much.

Oh my.

I might actually leech again, for once. =X

Although the animation seems a little bit more...squashed?... compared to the light novel images.

Leeching is bad I tell you!

Well I'd expect some changes for the possibility that the LN illustrations werent suited for moving animation.
First LQ PV that don't tell us all to much visually at least.

From the PV, I think I have a good idea how they're going to make the magic effects sound.

I'm also a little worried that they're going to make the spellcasting flashier and slower than it's supposed to be.

I'm placing my hopes on this adaptation, for what I watched in the PV and since it's Madhouse I think it could be good enough to watch.

I feel dejected since the 2nd season of DxD. That was....I have no words to describe how shitty that was

I had steeled myself to wait a long time with no news about this, so this definitely came as a surprise. I wonder who the staff working on this is going to be (both, VAs and animation / direction).

Also, I'm guessing that Madhouse is considering this one to be the big bucks after they are done with Hunter x Hunter, in other words I'm trying to "not hold my breath" while Hunter x Hunter is still ongoing and rolling in the popularity.

You are significantly more optimistic than me about how slowly they are likely to do the pacing. If it's a 12-13 ep, then I expect them to animate vol 1-4. That's two arcs, and I think that's somewhat more typical pacing even though they'll likely cut some things. If it was a 24-26, then I would expect vol 1-4 and 6-7 (and they could grab a side-story or two out of 5). That's still faster than your hope, but I think that would be a decent adaptation and better paced than my expected 12-13 episode variant.

You must be crazy to think they could fit 4 volumes into 12-13 episodes especially since volumes 3/4 are the 9-schools competition.

Well, I never said I wasn't crazy. Though going through the list of recent LN adaptations, perhaps the 12 / 2 is comparable to what's been done. The last few I happened to be thinking about were faster paced, so I'd gotten it my head that 3-4 vols was most common, which is not quite true. And looking at page count, volumes 3-4 are indeed quite long. I still think it could be done if they really wanted to. I feel like a run of just vols 1-2 could be a bit boring for a general anime audience. It's been a while, but I only remember ~4 short or moderate length action scenes in those volumes, which would make the anime pretty slow.

*tries to hide the illustration for Miyuki in vol 1*
You didnt see that okay? :P There is at least one illustration that is flashier and it matches the stance Miyuki takes in the PV. I think though we will have to compromise on how we want the spellcasting "to look" and what works production wise.

It stems from my inner wish that they want to "do it justice" and not cut corners, hence the confidence bit in my post. Vol 1 and 2 are to thin on the action part while 3 and 4 are briming with stuff happening. 3 and 4 also let most of the main cast shine in some way, being selective with who and not run thoes two volumes close to the source work can "offend" said character(s) fan base and stir backlashing domesticly. However, getting 1-7 into one series on 26 eps is by all means squeezing to much in there, if this is something they would do I'd probably skip watching it entierly. Thats why I called it a worst case scenario.

The sad part is that they can, they will just cut out more or less anything that does not involve Tatsuya and Miyuki, and then some. For thoes that have read the novels it will total shit for a series but they surely can. My long term hopes are a bit grand but here goes. S1 vol 1-4, S2 6-8, they use the last present time parts of vol 8 to set up for S3 covering 9-11. I'd throw in the Student council president election first in a second season split like that because it is needed.

1 and 2 are on the thin side, thats why I feel it suits the more packed 3 and 4 well for a 24-26 series. Even page count aside 3 and 4 just got that much happening, and a lot of it offers an explanation to various things.

I saw on the announcement page linked above that it says Tatsuya and Miyuki are twins.
Twin siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba are designated as the Weed and Bloom, respectively. Miyuki is given the title of Bloom due to her amazing grades, while Tatsuya is given the title of Weed due to his poor grades.
Do you think they are changing their realationship in the anime, or is it just the fault of the author?

Nooooooo, I tried so hard to ignore that! jokes aside.
Atm I'm hoping it is botched translating on ANN's part. Would be such a shame to be forced to give the series a big fat minus from the get go. As for thier grades i'll just have to conclude they mean technical score, if not I'd like a word with the smuck that wrote that block of text.

However though, it wouldnt be the first time I'd see siblings with less than a year inbetween be transformed into twins in an anime adaption.

I really don't think the company producing the anime would make such drastic changes like that. Considering how popular Mahouka is they would get destroyed by pissed off fans if they blatantly made changes like that.
