good news, permission granted, however the translator has request that we give ickem a little time to add some missing text that had been ommited in the original one he had posted on the other forum.

So please be patient until he is satisfied with the script before we publish it on the wiki.

thank you!

Greetings,

Just found this:
http://kaien.ii-subs.net/ (http://ii-subs.net/)

They are translating Bakemonogatari as well.
I thought, this might be of interest.

Who's that kunikida with 212.85.3.180 IP? Is he trying to sabotage the translation? I too think his editing is a mess and clearly without reference from the original work.
I'm very annoyed even though I'm just a random reader and isn't it'll just increase work (reverting) for you guys if this continue, shouldn't he get IP banned?

Were really all of this edits that bad? Maybe Oni should protect those pages from anonym edits...

Well I noticed Omnimon is practically undo-ing all of that kunikida's edit, wasting time and effort. :x

Btw there's a message from the kaien NISIOISIN's ~monogatari translations translation project for you guys :
http://kaien.ii-subs.net/
Hello guys!
As you can see on our staff page, most of II-Subs staff are taking part in this project too. Nisioisin’s compositions are deep and fathomless, and we aren’t about to let them pass by.
Coming to business, I would like to announce that all people who are interested in this project are welcome.
We need:
translators
proofreaders
quality checkers

Everyone who wants to participate should come to #bmgtl channel on rizon network.

Also, if anyone from baka-tsuki TL project is interested, how about making this a joint-project? First option is to merge our forces and translate Bakemonogatari 1-2 together. Second option is that we are finishing it, and you are doing Kizumonogatari, for example. There is no need to compete and waste TL resources: we all know how valuable they are.

Alva
Maybe you guys could consider their offer? :D

Isn't there a way in the wiki software to revert a change back? If so, that would seem to be the preferred way of handling this.

Have to agree with Omnimon's assessment that their translation is of fairly poor quality. I'm not sure if it would be faster to try and clean up what they have, or to do our own translation directly.

What do the rest of y'all think?

For some reason I can't load their page. =.=

Does anyone know how much they've translated of the first two volumes? I'm on chapter 5 of volume 1 right now... =X

I had a quick look over the changes, but I couldnt say that Omimon changed all edits back, also I wouldnt say that it is or was really fruitless, since I think the translation will improve with his effort even if it does mean that Omimon isnt translating at the moment...

You cant get to this: http://kaien.ii-subs.net/index.php/progress/ or that http://docs.google.com/View?id=d6f247s_9ghxzvfch?

As it seems for me it does look as if they have already translated till 4 and 5 and are currently translating 6 (a first part of 6 is already there) (But I could be terribly wrong, too. ;))

I could only see the google document, which is very depressing, given that I'd been translating what someone else already did.

Yeah, I believe that, but I think nobody here did know that before or if hasnt said that something before. For that it even didnt help that the wiki projects have a registration page to prevent something like that. Could you compare this translation with yours? Is it like your translation? Or did they translate the chapters completely different?

I read both versions of Hitagi crab, and from a literary point of view, the main difference is that our version is more naturalised (i.e. reads like the story was written in english in the first place) while it's extremely obvious that their version is a translation as some sentences are lifted straight from the original version, without any form of editing to make it flow in english. I'm not saying that their version is bad per se, but it seems to me that all they're doing is to get the gist of the story out (which is good enough for most people who're only interested in the story, but doesn't make their version a 'good' or 'complete' piece of work). But since they're consistent in churning out translations, I think we should take them up on their offer on the condition that we have the final editing rights. This will mean that we get the entire series translated faster, but still maintain the quality of a B-T translation. Our translators could also pitch in with the editing after they finish their bit so as to ease some of the pressure on the editors.
