Re: Infinite Stratos (IS〈インフィニット・ストラトス〉)
Probably because he revealed against his publisherAxiszero wrote:Why must such an awesome light novel be lost??
I don't know if that's accurate, but I think it's probably the reason.Wikipedia wrote:The light novels are being translated into traditional Chinese and the first volume was published and released by Sharp Point Press on November 9, 2010. The Chinese translations of the light novels were originally under an indefinite suspension. Yumizuru cited that Media Factory's overseas representatives were engaging in contracts with foreign publishers without the author's permission as the reason for the suspension. Yumizuru had also stated that he was willing to fight over this matter in court if necessary.

At worst, the author could find himself a publisher in Taiwan.

Re: Infinite Stratos (IS〈インフィニット・ストラトス〉)
It's usually the combination of marketing and distributing it to the bookstores that's the big problem, even for a series that's already known like this. Some big bookstore chain won't accept book from small publisher due to some agreement with the big publishers, and you're left with small bookstore that won't net you many sales. Not to mention, without good distribution channel, you will most likely only be able to sell your books at big cities such as Tokyo.Kira0802 wrote:Why is self-publshing hard?
I'm not saying it's not viable, since some doujinshis do sells a ton and Yumizuru could just sell his work at comiket or some event if MF doesn't own the title, but it's just not preferable. And, no matter how much Yumizuru sells, if he self-publish it, it will still be tagged as doujinshi.

Definitely not. No matter how good doujinshi sells, it still won't be able to get as much reader as the one published by big publisher.

Re: Infinite Stratos (IS〈インフィニット・ストラトス〉)
Is it just me or does the character introduction contain some spoilers? For an example, "She was the first antagonist of the novel, before becoming an ally of Ichika." Of course I read it before getting into that part myself. Aren't character introduction supposed to only contain the basic information and not give away character's story? I think that Charles' one is quite well done, especially if the "Seems to harbor secrets." part was omitted. When I read character introduction I really don't imagine getting a full fledged explanation of who he/she is, what's his/her part in the series and how it's going to turn out.
