On that note, Nobuna is infinitely more useful than Louis, while sounding (both in voice-acting and intellectual-speech) much more pleasant, and most of all, Nobuna isn't a flat, short, brat who compensates for her own inadequacies and repressed sexual tension with denial and intense, sadistic abuse of her allies, while providing no actual use in combat save for Deus Ex Machina.

Edit: God, that felt like a long rant... I must REALLY hate ZnT... more than I initially thought... though now that I think about it, I don't like tsunderes very much in general... I remember raging a lot at Love Hina too...
But the comparison ZnT is not the one of characters. It's more the kind of situation they are thrown in.
ZnT: Saito ends up passing through a portal to arrive in Mars.
Nobuna: Sagara ends up in the middle of the battlefield.
ZnT: MC makes a contract with his master.
Nobuna: MC makes an oath of loyalty.
ZnT: MC is perverted but acts cool when it really counts.
Nobuna: Same.
ZnT: Kind of a past-Europe thingy but altered.
Nobuna: Sengoku period with MC who changes many things in the past.

There are possibly other novels that are comparable with these common points. However, ZnT was the first one to come to my mind. There are majo differences such as th inexistance of magic in Nobuna, the fact that Nobuna actually CAN fight and many different things. If I wanted to say that Nobuna is similar to Louise, I'd say so. And I myself pointed out that it wasn't ecchi at all as series.

Honestly, there are other comparisons like these. Such as DAL with TWGOK, but it doesn't mean that they are the same.

Well in a way both protagonists are similar, but there are difference. For one, Sagara isn't easily swayed by other females like Saito. Sagara works with his intelligence than physical ability, his intelligence was his own. Saito gain his power through a contract. Also, I feel Sagara is more of a likable character to read and related to normal people to a degree. As for females, you already stated the differences. Nobuna doesn't need some knight in shining armor to protect her. She has a Katana which she used many times and became the first Daimyo to fully invest in the Match Lock Rifles brought by the Portuguese which later becomes a power house. She is a Daimyo, she knows how to lead her country before Sagara arrived at the age of 16 or 17. Nobuna often has help that she will listen too, she isn't someone who believe she can singly unite Japan. Louise, she got some uses but if she is alone she is really dead in the water. She is awfully stubborn and will often times not listen to other people's suggestions.

Both
This Rocks, even this have similarities with ZnT, I think is totaly diferrent in the fact that is a Sengoku era Novel, and I hope it will become more popular than HS DxD, Because is less Silly, more romantic (as shown in the anime), and HAVE 9 Novels already Published.

Even I think that Oda Nobuna no Yabou could surpases TAMI, SAO, But since is Ecchii ( i am suprised, since the anime is not ..yet) It will be the most popular even with Campione (a little ecchi), HS DxD, Znt. I y opnion and i am entusiactic with that discover! If my lack of Jap knowledge didn't allow me to read them I already had Downoaded the RAWS weeks ago.
So WILL SOME ONE will help to translate that novel?

Which characters you like the most? I like Nobuna, her dreams aim very high and seriousness is what makes her great and different from many female protagonists. Nobuna like characters are lacking in the Anime, Light Novel, and Manga world, there should be more of characters like her. She takes it upon herself to do it, and she is very productive in doing so. Another character I like is Sagara. He is a normal high school kid, but he have shown time and time again he has guts. To stand against Nobuna when she tried to kill her brother, not many would go against a Daimyo other than another Daimyo.

Rigth! IS a wonderfull creeation! and making the Daymios Females is a great idea!!!

I found the cover releases here http://ga.sbcr.jp/novel/nobuna/. It also includes a small brief detailing of each volume or a teaser as you will. As well, you can purchase the Light Novel volumes there as well since they got a direct link to Amazon. The ecchi photos are found by a friend of mine on another website, his name is Sumeragi. It is found in the light novel thread on animesuki. For volume 1 illustrations, it is found on the social group on the same website and the summaries of the first 5 volume is there too. Do you want me to post the volume 1 illustrations here?

I really don't know if I can, I haven't read the rules of Baka-Tsuki before I made an account. I think I can post a link of the social group of animesuki so you can view it there. I think I will be violating rules here if I post the first volume illustrations and summaries here. Here is the link to the social, also I don't know if you need an account of not, but if you do it is free to make. Here is the link http://forums.animesuki.com/group.php?groupid=802

PS: Summaries are brief, but they generally tell you what happen try to imagine it, it is fun.

That's why I also mentioned there are major differences. Bright should be someone who can bring out novels that look alike without major differences.

Really Kira, so I can post the summaries and the first volume illustration? Maybe there will be something to make a real discussion after I do that. Real hard to make a discussion with the anime alone, unless you got the original material. I have to put them in the spoilers tag correct?

So far there have been only Chinese Translations of Oda Nobuna no Yabou. I had a friend named Mechatrill done summaries of it, he couldn't do exact translation since he hasn't fully learn Chinese yet. Here are the summaries, it is really entertaining and these are very brief as well. Brief, but the summaries give you what you are expecting. Oh and vol 1 and vol 5 are incomplete, vol 1 was already explained a lot in the anime already in the first 3 episodes and may be finishing on the fourth or fifth episode. Vol 5 is incomplete, well because the Chinese translations are not there yet. Vol 6, 7, 8 are also incomplete so Mechatrill couldn't do them, vol 5 was an exception because it is nearly done.

Volume 1
Spoiler! :
I actually didn't read the parts already covered by the anime, so I'll be skipping those portions here as well. With all the spoilers already given, I think it should be enough either way.

For those who missed the posts above me discussing the differences between the anime and the novel, the biggest difference that mattered is that the Asai pretty boy did not show up in volume 1. In the novel, while Nobuna and friends were discussing Dousan's situation, his messenger arrived (no Mitsuhide Akechi yet) with his letter. Scene follows as per the anime, and Katsue knocks Nobuna out as she was about to give the order to march on Mino. Events follow the anime, in which our MC sets out with Goemon to rescue Dousan, ending with them getting rescued by Nobuna who came anyways and news of the Imagawa invasion.

Now for the new stuff.

Basically, what happened then was the MC taking advantage of his historical knowledge to replicate the Battle of Okehazama. Stuff happened as it did historically: a sneak attack while the Imagawa forces were unprepared and off balance right after a thunderstorm. In the confusion, the Imagawa forces scattered and the Oda forces overran and trapped Imagawa Yoshimoto before she even knew what happened. Unlike historically, however, she was then forced to surrender at sword point instead of getting killed in battle.

There's a bunch of stuff that the MC had to do to prep for the battle though, but I'm not too confident in my initial read-through, so I'd have to carefully reread through the whole thing again later to be sure of his exact actions...

Anyways, the volume ends with news of the battle spreading. With that, Nobuna is now far more famous and is considered an actually serious contender in the war rather than just as The Fool of Owari or the Foolish Princess.

Volume 2
Spoiler! :
Now is where Azai Nagamasa enters. With Nobuna now known as an actual contender in the war, he's entering the scene and proposing an alliance between Oda and Azai, sealed with a polical marriage between Nobuna and himself. Events are similar enough to the anime that I won't rehash them. In the end, the marriage talks are held off until Nobuna retakes Mino from Saitou Yoshitatsu.

The campaign is underway. Here we are introduced to our newest character: Takenaka Hanbei, the niece of one of the Mino three (they defected from Dousan to join Yoshitatsu) who is said to be a brilliant strategist comparable to Zhuge Liang of the Three Kingdoms era. Her supposed genius is shown when the Oda forces walk into one of her stratagems: "Ambush From Ten Sides" (which, apparently, was from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and only the MC knew about it), where she sent a massive amount of her troops into hiding in an area, and then used a small amount of troops to engage the Oda forces, fake defeat, and retreat, luring the Oda forces into the ambush. With that, the Oda forces were in trouble from constant and continuous ambushing forces. Finally, the MC had Goemon and her ninjas use their smoke bombs to obscure the battlefield and cause confusion. This, combined with a relief force that came (This part I'm not entirely sure on), allowed the Oda forces to break out of the ambush.

Next strategy from Hanbei is another Three Kingdoms classic: the "Stone Sentinel Maze", a massive maze of stone slabs arranged by the Chinese concept of Ba Gua. Of course, being Japanese, none of the Oda forces knew enough to navigate the maze and got hopelessly lost. Then things went from bad to worse when the Mino forces diverted a river into the maze, aiming to basically drown the entire Oda forces. MC to the rescue, again: he basically organized a makeshift engineering corp on the spot and had them dig out the bottom of the stone slabs and knock them over. That not only gave them higher ground to avoid the waters, but also eventually destroyed the maze and released the Oda forces.

Somewhere in the middle of this, Nobuna declared to her entire force that whoever takes Mino will get one request from her, which she will fulfill no matter what it is. The MC jumps on it (he wants Nobuna to reject the marriage proposal from Azai Nagamasa), leading to some interesting scenes where Nobuna's privately freaking out over the possibility of the MC requesting her hand in marriage. A matter to note is that, while she's freaking out over it, it's all over the fact that their statuses are too different, and there wasn't one word about how she doesn't want to marry someone she doesn't love. This bit, I think, is rather telling...

I'm a little fuzzy on the next part, but basically the MC and Goemon went deep into Mino territory to try and get Hanbei to change sides. There, after some difficulties and a confrontation or two with Azai Nagamasa, who I think was there to do some double dealing and was secretly helping Yoshitatsu despite his supposed aim at marrying Nobuna (I think he's secretly allying with Yoshitatsu to obstruct Oda so as to make Nobuna have no choice but to marry him for an alliance with Azai if she wanted to take Mino. He was also trying to seduce Hanbei as well), they finally meet Hanbei. It turns out that Hanbei is actually this frail and timid little girl, who was so scared of other people and being bullied that she would normally send out a familiar (shikigami?) pretending to be her to feel out strangers first (this is where a great deal of those difficulties from earlier came from. The familiar, which I think is some kind of kitsune? has a penchant for some cruel practical jokes). In the end, the MC befriends her and eventually convinces her to follow him and change sides (I think Hanbei basically falls for him at that point).

There's a bunch of stuff in that whole bit that I'm unclear about, but I think the jist of it is that Hanbei's uncle, Andou of the Mino Three, was imprisoned (possibly due to the machination of Nagamasa? I know in the end it was Nagamasa that moved him and held him captive), and the MC promised Hanbei that he'll save Andou.

Although by converting Hanbei, the MC managed to take Inabayama Castle (the last major castle in Mino that needs to be taken for victory), he had to give it up and retreat (I think to protect Hanbei from being labeled a traitor? I'm really unclear on this part, have to reread, but I think the gist of it is that if Hanbei is declared a traitor, that'll spread to her uncle, Andou. If that happens, Andou, who's currently imprisoned by Nagamasa, could be executed without repercussion. Thus, to save Hanbei's uncle, the MC couldn't have Hanbei just hand over the castle, and so he instead gave it up?)

Nobuna basically declared to the MC that if the campaign to take Mino fails, she'll marry Nagamasa for an alliance with Azai against Mino (This was in no small part caused by her jealousy at MC giving up Inabayama for Hanbei's sake). Though the argument between the two that this declaration caused, Nobuna basically told the MC to take Inabayama in three days if he wants to stop the marriage.

MC's new strategy is to follow history and construct Sunomata Castle (the castle is located deep in enemy territory and, if constructed, will make taking Inabayama Castle much easier). Of course, to Nobuna, something like that is impossible, especially since Yoshitatsu will definitely send troops to interfere once he gets word.

On the construction of Sunomata: Day 1 goes perfectly, Day 2 Yoshitatsu attacked, and while they repelled the attack, all the workers got scared and ran away. Thus, the MC decided to repeat the old legend about Sunomata Ichiya Castle (Ichiya means one night, following the legend that the castle was literally built over a single night). The plan basically boiled down to these points;
1. Build the castle in one night by himself and Goemon and her lolicon followers (Nobuna won't be sending soldiers to help him with that).
2. Yoshitatsu will attack the castle, not knowing that it'll be mostly empty, leaving Inabayama Castle mostly undefended.
3. Nobuna will take all her troops and quickly take Inabayama in one day.

Cut to the MC's plan to build the castle in one night: his "two-by-four" method, which is basically this: The current time period's method for construction is to go to the place of construction and start building there from scratch. The "two-by-four" method is to make all the parts needed for construction ahead of time elsewhere, then just assemble the parts together on the spot, which cuts a ton of time needed to stay in enemy territory.

The plan is carried out mostly successfully, but Yoshitatsu's army arrives before they could finish. Goemon basically rushes out by herself to buy time, although the MC immediately follows after her. In the end though, Nobuna arrives to save the day, much like in volume 1 with the rescue of Saitou Dousan, forgoing her original objectives in order to save the MC. Yoshitatsu retreats back to Inabayama and readies for a siege.

With only one day left to take Inabayama and Mino with it before Nobuna agrees to the marriage with Azai Nagamasa, the MC undertakes a risky plan: He will sneak into the castle and open the gates from within, letting in the Oda troops, this way, they can definitely still take Mino within the time limit. Before he leaves for the mission, Nobuna gives him her gourd (as a keepsake or good luck charm?) in typical tsundere fashion.

The battle begins. MC opens the gates as planned, and the battle is won in a single day. He waves the gourd (it's bright gold and shiny) on the end of a spear to signal the Oda army. This lead to Nobuna deciding to make the MC's banner the picture of a gourd.

In the end, Nobuna decides to spare Yoshitatsu and just kicking him out. She gives the usual awards and stuff to her generals and sees to the captured enemy commanders, who she generally treats fairly gently (for the time anyways). All the while, Nagamasa's breaking out in a cold sweat over the possibility of his double dealing coming to light, which it does. Nobuna ignores it for the moment, however. Finally, it comes down to the last 2 issues that need to be resolved: the matter of her promise to grant anything to the one who conquers Mino and the Azai marriage proposal. The MC is obviously the one who is credited for taking Mino, and his request is, of course, for Nobuna to reject the marriage proposal. Nobuna basically uses the MC's request as the perfect excuse to reject the marriage (If she rejected it herself, it would constitute as a lose of face for the Azai, which would definitely sour relation when she needs the alliance). She then turns around and offers an alliance without marriage. Nagamasa replies that his father won't accept an alliance that isn't sealed by a marriage, but Nobunaga offers a princess of Owari for that. She also decides to overlook Nagamasa's double dealing, although it's heavily implied that she's using it as leverage to make him behave (work under her, no more seducing other notable females, etc...).

There's also a humorous bit where it's revealed that there is no other princesses of Owari other than Nobuna, and while everyone was panicking over it the MC asked about Oichi, who was historically Nobunaga's sister who was married to Azai Nagamasa. Of course, said person doesn't exist here, but at that moment, enter Nobuyuki. Cue "are you thinking what I'm thinking" and evil smiles, and they basically told Nobuyuki (while tied up via ninjas): from now on you're Oichi, princess of Owari and future wife of Azai.

Now, the draw for future volumes: Akechi Mitsuhide finally shows up with news. Matsunaga Hisahide and the Miyoshi Triumvirs tried to assassinate the current Shogun, Ashikaga Yoshiteru, and usurp power. Unlike in history where they succeeded, this time Ashikaga managed to escape and were trying to make for Ming China (this hammers in for the MC that history is changing and his knowledge might become obsolete). Mitsuhide had a plan for Oda to take advantage of the situation though, which centers on using Imagawa Yoshimoto(remember her, from volume 1? She was basically kept in the same style she was used to since her surrender at the end of the volume). I'm not too sure due to the terminologies at this point, but I think they're planning on having her declared as Shogun (she does have the right blood relations for legitimacy), although she'd just be a puppet under the control of Nobuna. There's also a bit of Akechi fangirling over the MC and his accomplishment of Sunomata Ichiya Castle (so cute).

Finally, we end with the renaming renaming Inabayama castle/mountain to Gifu, as was done historically.

Volume 3
Spoiler! :
It starts with the Oda forces on their march toward Kyoto. Of particular note is how Nagamasa is now fawning over Nobuna, calling her Onee-sama (I think that's what the Chinese part translate to mostly?), being extremely respectful and such.

Cue flashback to what I already spoiled earlier, how Nobuyuki and Nagamasa were revealed to each other as trap and reverse trap, making them a couple were a match made in heaven. The two really connected and genuinely fell in love, who knew...

On to Kyoto. They first had to take a castle on the way, but with the 50 cannons that Mitsuhide brought with her, they easily took it in a single day. When they entered Kyoto, Nobuna strictly enforced discipline and did not allow any looting or sacking whatsoever. Coupled with a nice parade, she pretty much won the hearts of most of the citizens of the city.

Some time in the middle, MC encounters a weird, mute little girl and plays with her. There's a bunch of stuff about legends, curses, and some religious stuff, but I'm really unclear about the whole thing...

On to stuffs. The various generals under Oda were given their assignments to garrison the various holdings and were separated. In particular though, Mitsuhide was given the post for guarding Kyoto, while Nobuna and MC stayed in the city to attend to stuff (I think there were some stuff about how they needed to gather 120,000 koku for some reason (I'm not entirely sure here, but I think it has something to do with establishing Imagawa as the Shogun?). Anyways, while everyone is going about their business, Nobuna and MC went out on a "Not a date" (tsundere alert, everyone take a shot). They spent some time touring around, the harbor in particular, where there's major influence from Portuguese traders on display (show and tell time with an elephant and camel, the MC gets to impress Nobuna with his basic knowledge, learned from trips to the zoo). Later on, they randomly meet up with Mitsuhide.

Mitsuhide wanted a moment alone with her Sempai (MC), but while alone, her true colors show: She wanted to be Nobuna's most trusted adviser, and she can be really ruthless about her strategies for it. For that to happen though, the MC has got to go. She ends with a threat: if the MC tells Nobuna about this conversation, she'll tell Nobuna that he pushed her down and forced himself on her.

Nobuna meets up with Mitsuhide and the MC again, and Mitsuhide's first move was to accuse the MC of "pushing me down and played with my chest", cue rage from Nobuna, but the MC barely survived by accusing Mitsuhide of lying and pointing out that there's no evidence to support Mitsuhide's accusations.

Nobuna agrees, and decides to select the guilty party using a competition: both of them will try to raise money (for the 120k koku thing earlier, I think?), the one to earn the most wins, and the looser will be sent back to Gifu as kitchen help (or manager? something like that though...).

Later on, the MC stumbles across a Christian church. In it, he meets a nun called Louise Francis (who happens to be really really stacked) and a little girl with an eye patch, Date Masamune. They talked about various things, and the MC, in his typical semi-perverted manner, helps them with several issues they had, such as Francis' complex about her figure (she thinks a well developed figure is unattractive for some reason) and Masamune's complex about her family situation (she's the result of an affair between her mother and a foreigner, thus resulting in her hair color and her one red eye which she hid behind her eye patch. There's also some stuff on how her father favors her little brother over her). Anyways, while comforting Masamune and trying to cheer her up, the MC did a bit too good a job, and at the end of it Masamune ran off back toward her home, saying that she'll definitely conquer the world and show everyone. The MC's reaction is basically: well, that's going to come back and bite me in the butt...

Cue interrupt from Mitsuhide. She's here with a bunch of people to sack the church (I think she was convinced to do so by a merchant acquaintance of hers? I forget his name though) for funds to win their competition. The MC uses diplomacy against her, and basically rolled a natural 20. He convinces her that it's a majorly bad idea and to disperse the mob with her without a fuss.

The next part gets a bit fuzzy again, but somehow, the competition to raise money turns to the venue to grill and sell octopus? I'm really confused on how exactly that came about, but there it is. Next is an octopus cooking and selling competition... There might have also been a bit on Mitsuhide's background and why she's so desperate to become Nobuna's closest adviser.

Mitsuhide managed to get all the best ingredients from her merchant associate guy (I'm just going to call him the sleazy merchant) and her preparations and cooking basically goes perfectly. MC, however, has problems. First the wood for the fire is wet, and when Goemon tries to overcome it with one of her bombs, it gets too much. Then the oil added is too much, the whole thing is a disaster. In the end though, the MC decides to salvage the situation another way. Instead of frying it as is traditional, he'll instead deep fry it and cover it with a certain sauce (I think he was trying for takoyaki? I'm not familiar enough with it to be sure though). In the end, although his products don't look all that great, everyone loved the taste. Mitsuhide, on the other hand, had some products that looked fairly nice, but tasted absolutely horrible.

Through some trickery on the part of Mr. Sleazy merchant, however, Mitsuhide actually won the competition in terms of revenue generated that was presented to Nobuna (I think he played some really unfair tricks for that, but Mitsuhide didn't actually know about his actions until after the fact). While Mitsuhide did win, Nobuna was really hesitant to send the MC away (partly due to the unfairness, partly because she doesn't want him to go). While she was hesitating though, the MC decided to be the bigger man and just admit his loss and go even if it was unfair. When Nobuna hears of this though, she immediately goes after him.

It's revealed, however, that the MC was intercepted and captured by an assassin/ninja who was paid to kill Nobuna. His plan is to use the MC to lure Nobuna close and then snipe her (he's apparently an accomplished marksman). While the MC was helplessly bound, Nobuna was getting closer to her imminent death. Cue scene skip.

Back in Kyoto, some new force invades, lead by someone called Matsumae. She invades and her forces poured into the city. Mitsuhide was trying desperately to defend, but she didn't have enough troops. Matsumae was also some kind of magic user (the tradition is western based rather than Omyoji, which is Japan based), and she and Hanbei had a match. There was also some exchanges between the two about why Hanbei follows Nobuna despite her reputation as anti-religion in there. In the end, I think Hanbei got overwhelmed, but I'm not sure about that... Matsumae fought Mitsuhide next, and revealed that she sent a ninja to intercept and kill Nobuna. Hearing this, Mitsuhide had a BSOD moment, and was about to die when...

Big damn hero time, MC to the rescue. He reveals that Inuchiyo followed Nobuna and rescued them from the assassination attempt and eventually knocks Mitsuhide out of her BSOD and pushes Matsumae. Nobuna herself was leading the troops to try to push Matsumae's forces out, but they were still outnumbered since there was no time to get reinforcements from Mino.

Big damn heroes moment, take two. This time it's Francis with a host of Christian converts. With that, they finally had the numbers to win the battle. Matsumae surrendered and revealed that the whole thing was to test whether Nobuna would make a worthy master for her. Matsumae lost wholeheartedly and pledged allegiance to Nobuna, who accepted. Nobuna also decided to waive the penalty of sending the MC to Gifu, using the excuse of his accomplishment in getting the Christians to side with her and saved all their asses.

Next, Nobuna meets with Francis. Francis basically declares that she loves the country of Japan, she doesn't plan on going back to Portugal, and her purpose here is to tell Nobuna (or anyone with power and is willing to listen really) that the European powers may one day try to do to Japan what they did to the Aztec and Incan Empires, and although Japan's people are smart and strong, Japan itself lack vital resources such as gunpowder. Nobuna acknowledged her and pretty much accepted the presence of Christianity in Japan. When Francis expressed surprise due to Nobuna's anti-religion reputation, Nobuna's response was that what she hated were the people who used religion for the sake of wielding political influence for their own wants, but Francis isn't like that. She ends with "If your church doesn't lead this country to ruin, if your church will help make this country a better place, then spread your word across the world as you like! If you don't have enough money, come look me up".

Next I think there's some politics bit where they had do appear in front of some head miko figure along with other guy (I'm going to call him corrupt official, and he's also apparently the one who enticed Matsumae to attack Kyoto and kill Nobuna) in order to get Imagawa officially made Shogun. The corrupt official was against it and was rather hostile to Nobuna taking power. The priestess spoke out though: "I don't know a thing about Nobuna, but that guy next to her (MC) is a good person". Turns out that the priestess has the power to see the thoughts of someone with a touch and she's actually that little girl way early that the MC played with (she touched him then). Imagawa ends up getting established as shogun and the 120k koku gather being split: 20k goes to Imagawa as salary and the rest to Nobuna for government use. The Miko ends the audience with this little message out loud: "But that guy is also really perverted, so be careful Oda".
That, I think, covers chapters 1-6. Hanbei is sick, oh noes! Quick, get a doctor.

Said doctor is one of the Christians who came to the rescue in Kyoto, and he seems to be something of a lolicon, what with how he examines Hanbei, even as he keeps insisting that he's a professional and does not harbor just feelings. After he prescribes some medicine for Hanbei, the doctor chats with Hanbei and the MC. The topic, naturally, falls upon the MC's origins from the future, and it diverges to talking about various events in his future. When the MC mentions the retreat from Kanegasaki (I think this is the right battle? Historically, what happened was Nobunaga attacked the Asakura, who had a long standing alliance with Azai, who were also allied with Nobunaga. In the end, despite Nagamasa's desire to stay neutral, the Azai sided with Asakura against Nobunaga. With both Azai and Asakura against him at Kanegasaki, Nobunaga was forced to retreat).

Cue oh shit moment from Hanbei. Apparently, Nobuna has already taken troops to attack the Asakura. MC drops everything and heads out, planning to check on the situation with the Azai (He's been very clearheaded to note that this world is not the same as history and he doesn't let it affect his judgement either, so knowing that Nagamasa is completely in love with Nobuyuki and basically worships the ground beneath Nobuna's feet, he can't be sure it'll turn out like that this time). Hanbei wants to go with him, but was completely overruled what with her fever. She does get the MC to take one of her summons with him though (the demon of the front? I think that's how it'd be translated?).

Scene shift to the Azai. Nagamasa and "Oichi" are doing their sickeningly sweet married couple thing when Nagamasa gets called to council with the news of Nobuna's march against the Asakura. Like in history, Nagamasa is very against aiding the Asakura, but her father basically overrules her and had her put under house arrest in some other place for the duration of the conflict (he does intend to step down and take religious vows afterwards though). As she's being dragged away, she shouts for Nobukatsu (I'll start refering to him as that rather than Nobuyuki, since that's actually what the novels refer to him as) to take care of the rest. No one responds to it since Nagamasa used "Nobukatsu" rather than "Oichi", allowing Nobukatsu to make a good distance before getting stopped by Azai soldiers, at which point MC and Goemon shows up to the rescue.

The MC confirms the situation and heads for Nobuna. When there, he relays the news about how they have to retreat. Nobuna intends to protect the rear of the retreat (it is the riskiest position in a retreat and those in that position has the greatest chance of dying) but was shot down by pretty much every one of her confidants. She's unwilling to send anyone else to die in her stead though, and surrender is not an option either. As she is torn by indecision, the MC volunteered for the task, giving her his cell phone (it's been out of batteries for a while now though) as a final memento of sorts. Nobuna is basically crying at that point about how she doesn't want him to die no matter what, bringing back the topic back in volume 2 about how everyone she loved dies (it's a very emotional scene and her true feelings are coming out unrestrained), but the MC promises her that he'll definitely survive and return, bringing up how Dousan didn't die thanks to him and the fact that, historically, Toyotomi (whose place he basically took) was the one to protect the rear of the retreat and he survived just fine, so the MC should be fine too. The MC and the others have their tearful goodbyes: Nobuna promised him a kiss when gets back to Kyoto, Katsue basically gave him every soldier who volunteered to remain behind (it's implied that there were a lot of them) and promised to let him grope her chest all he wants when he gets back, even Niwa was crying in her goodbye, Inuchiyo wouldn't even let go of him until he convinced her to go, Mitsuhide left him all 50 of her cannons, and Matsudaira left him Hanzo.

Volume 4
Spoiler! :
Although what we're really looking forward to is the MC doing his 300 thing (only with 500 instead), we're given something completely unrelated instead: Masamune is back home and talks with her old friend (don't know the romaji of her name) and starts her plan to become the demonic tyrant that will rule the world (MC's little confidence boosting speech really got taken way out of proportion).

Now back to what we're really after, MC Covering the Retreat:
The men with him are prepared to lay down their lives to get the MC back, but the MC refuses: He's selfish and he wants the cake and eat it too, and He declares that won't abandon them to die and just run off by himself, and that they'll all go back together. The MC uses a number of tactics, like putting extra gunners on the cannons Mitsuhide left him and having them fire off sequentially for a constant rate of fire in a fairly narrow space to good effect (even though Mitsuhide honestly forgot to leave her gunners with him, he made due with the people he had). They steadily retreated until they got intercepted by an enemy omiyoji (a young boy who I will refer to as Young Omiyoji) who summoned a huge number of familiars to intercept them. With all the familiars flying about acting like search planes, the MC and his forces were stuck.

In the end, they came up with a plan: Omiyoji siphon powers from dragon lines (or points, or something like that?), which are in the mountains where they were. If they can block those points up, then the Young Omiyoji's powers will get weaker and they might be able to break through. They embark on this plan and goes to find the Dragon Point, but got caught by the Young Omiyoji near the end. MC reiterates that he won't abandon his men and would rather die in exchange for their lives, plus the Young Omiyoji stated that so long as he takes the MC's head it won't matter if lets the rest of the troops do. At that point, the MC hears Hanzo say "then die", feels a sharp pain in his back, and blacks out.

On Nobuna's side:
The Oda army is in disarray and retreating. Nobuna did meet up with Matsumae (invaded kyoto before surrendering to Nobuna last volume, mature woman, nicknamed "the scorpion", has a penchant for poisons), who came to help her (even though the other generals in Oda's army distrusts her, Nobuna accepts her help without reservation). She helps them through a pass (Or some critical guarded juncture) using her wiles and poison to blackmail the guard. Before Nobuna manages to make it to Kyoto, however, she was shot by an enemy gunner and blacked out.

A bit later, in Kyoto. The Oda army managed to retreat from Kyoto, but Nobuna's still heavily injured and unconscious. She was shot twice in the stomach, but she barely survived since those bullets hit the cell phone the MC gave her before separating, so the bullets didn't go in as deep as they could have. She did still lose a lot of blood though, and she's still out of it. She's also been visibly having nightmares in her sleep, dreaming about how the MC got caught and killed while retreating. Matsumae gives her some shady medicine though to help with that, and her dreams turns to the MC returning unharmed, them reuniting and getting married.

Back in the real world, the Oda army is having problems. The one who shot Nobuna was hiding up in the nearby mountain monastery (I think it's Ishiyama Hongan-ji) along with a number of other anti-Oda forces. The warrior monks there aren't letting the Oda forces come up to root them out due to the old rule about how it's no women allowed (and being damn misogynistic about it too). Oda's army couldn't really force it despite their anger though, since it is a deeply religiously and culturally significant place and to break their rules would turn the rest of Japan against them. So while Nobuna's unconscious, they're at an impasse.

In the meanwhile, Mitsuhide and Matsudaira (who, before she separated from the MC last volume, declared that she would change her name to Tokugawa Ieyasu, so I'll refer to her as Ieyasu from now on) are leading a rescue force to go back for the MC (Mitsuhide was beating herself over her blunder in leaving the MC the cannons but not the gunners). They catch up the MC's forces just in time to see them being cornered by the Young Omiyoji. They hear the Young Omiyoji say that he doesn't care what happens to the troops so long as he takes the MC's head. Then they see the MC say "fine, but it's too shameful if I let to take my head to your master, so I'm going to choose my on death". He then steps in front of a cannon and has it blow himself up to smithereens. The Young Omiyoji sees this and the relief forces with Mitsuhide and Ieyasu, and retreats, his objective complete. Mitsuhide, seeing the MC's death, was overcome with rage and charged the Young Omiyoji on her horse, but he just floats over a crevice that she doesn't see, and Mitsuhide falls to her apparent death.

Back to Nobuna. She finally regains consciousness, only to hear the news: that the MC and Mitsuhide were dead. She also hears about the situation with the monastery, and, overcome with sorrow and emotion, orders the mountain be set on fire and the monastery be burnt to ash.

Now to the MC. Obviously he's still alive. He wakes up from where (a mud pit i think?) Hanzo hid him after knocking him out and tries to make for Kyoto while covered in scratches and bruises. While running, he gets hit in the back with an arrow, and after going a bit longer, falls over and blacks out.

Now for Mitsuhide. As she was falling she managed to jump off her horse and plunge her sword into the cliffs. Then she basically climbed back up using her bare hands. When she finally got back to where she fell, she saw the signs that the MC was alive after all and followed his trail. She finally comes across him lying on the ground with an arrow in his back. She pulls out the arrow and dresses the wound, but noting that it shouldn't have killed him. However, he was fading fast due to exposure (heart rate and breathing was nearly none-existent, plus he was deathly cold). She performs CPR to get him to start breathing again all the while complaining about how he took her first, second, third, etc kiss. She then had to warm him back up, which she does by sharing body heat via direct skin contact (remember that pic from back then?). At this point, it's noted that she has fallen for him. This next portion I'm not too sure about, but Mitsuhide hears a scouting force nearby and starts talking to herself for some reason (yeah, I really didn't get that part), about how she admires and likes the MC. Near the very end, the MC regains consciousness and heard the very end of it. Mitsuhide pulls the tsundere card and the two starts arguing, not heeding their voices. Finally, the scouting force finds them, and Mitsuhide steps to the entrance (I think they were hidden in a cave of some sort since Mitsuhide found the MC?), and even though both her swords were snapped earlier, she still steps to the front and declares that she won't let anyone come in even one step (courage of a girl in love, isn't it something).

Back at the Oda place. The Oda army has set the preparations for burning Ishiyama and only await Nobuna's command. However, we shift to Hanbei (remember her, who was out since the last chapter of the previous volume), who has finally awoken from her fever from last volume. She quickly gets filled in on the events, comes to the conclusion that the MC didn't die, and rushes out with Francis to stop Nobuna before she burns Ishiyama. She manages to get the story out to Nobuna, about how Hanzo probably used the cover of a smoke bomb to knock the MC out and have the Demon of the Front (remember her, the familiar she sent with the MC since she was too sick to come with him?) assume his appearance and take his place. The whole suicide by canon bit was just to cover it up and convince the pursuing forces that the MC was dead. She finally summons the Demon of the Front, who confirms the story (too bad she couldn't tell earlier since she needed Hanbei to summon her, and Hanzo left right away to find the MC without telling anyone other than Tokugawa who's with him to maintain operational security). While Nobuna is still in shock over the news, the MC and Mitsuhide finally shows up along with Hanzo's scouts. They reunite. Nobuna's still in shock, plus the vivid dreams she had from Matsumae's medicine, she's not sure if she's still dreaming or not. Matsumae pops up with a suggestion (why don't you [the MC] kiss her to break her out of it), which the MC follows. Of course, he was really disheveled (plus he even had a leaf stuck in his teeth), and that plus the fact that they were in public provokes Nobuna's tsun mode, and thus the romantic atmosphere is broken in favor of slapstick.

Flashback to how they got there. Apparently, those scouting forces that discovered Mitsuhide and the MC weren't enemy forces like she thought, but Hanzo's men. Of course, they heard the whole confession Mitsuhide made toward the MC while he was unconscious, so the embarrassed Mitsuhide threatened to kill them if they said anything.

Although our heroes are reunited, the problem with Ishiyama remains. Of course, those asshole monks (all the enlightened ones apparently already left) heard about Nobuna's preparations to burn the mountain, so they decided to negotiate (even while retaining their misogynistic and stuck up attitudes). Nobuna plays hardball in return, and gives the following conditions: Give up the one to shot her (they claim they can't since he already ran away, but Nobuna decides to let that one slide), give up the Young Omiyoji (agreed), complete disarmament of the monks (extreme dismay, but I think they got pressured into it eventually?), and finally, make a treaty to the effect, to be signed by her in the monastery. That last one really didn't go well (cue more misogynistic BS) due to the longstanding rule about no females up the mountain (which was precisely the reason Nobuna stipulated it: she wanted to abolish that rule, go female rights). They were at an impasse on that last bit (the monks aren't willing to abolish the rule, but if Nobuna burned the mountain, she'd lose a ton of popular support, which she does need). Finally, the solution comes to do this officially: they (Nobuna's group) would ask the only other with the authority to abolish the rule, the head miko in Kyoto (from last volume). They consulted her, and the origin of the rule is revealed: originally, there was both a monastery and a nunnery on the mountain, and they had the mutual rule of no female/male allows for segregation of genders, but eventually the nunnery disappeared and only the no female rule remains (the rule had nothing to do with the monks' misogynistic claims of women being impure or whatever). Seeing that, the head miko used her authority to abolish the rule, and the Oda forces could now secure the mountain without major political backlash.

While the MC visits and reassures Nene that he's still alive, Nobuna, with motherly advise from Matsumae, intends to call the MC to her place at night for his promised reward (the kiss. She didn't really count the one from earlier). When the MC arrives though, he meets Katsue, who stubbornly wants to make good on her promise (letting the MC grope her breasts as much as he likes). Although the MC is more interested in finding Nobuna, Katsue is stubborn about it and won't direct him to Nobuna until the promise if fulfilled, so the MC gropes and they get caught by Nobuna, who's tsun parts get provoked and chases him out at swordpoint.

There's also a bit about a private meeting between Nobuna and Mitsuhide, where Nobuna tearfully thanks Mitsuhide for bringing the MC back alive. She also askes Mitsuhide to take care of the MC, which Mitsuhide misinterpreted in her head as Nobuna telling Mitsuhide to marry the MC (Mitsuhide had a very tsundere reaction in her thoughts too "well, it's not like I wanted to marry him [the MC], but if it's the princess's order, it can't be helped"). I can see this misunderstanding coming to bite all of them...

Finally, 2 final scenes:
First, we have Nagamasa and Nobukatsu (he got found out as a boy after getting imprisoned). They got busted out by ninjas and escaped, but Nagamasa meets some Azai retainers. Nobuna's been kicking their ass and Nagamasa's father intends to make a final stand and commit seppuku. They also beg Nagamasa to come to their aid. Nagamasa, unable to stand by and watch her clan and especially her father die, heads out to rally the Azai forces, leaving Nobukatsu behind.

Enter Shingen Takeda. One of the corrupt monks from Ishiyama arrives at Takeda's place with news that Nobuna burnt down Ishiyama (she never did, but with the speed messages travel, they don't know that). Takeda uses this as an excuse to mobilize her forces and start campaigning against Oda.

Volume 5 (Incomplete)
Spoiler! :
We start with Nobukatsu, who is still cross dressing even though he's back in Oda territory, moping over Nagamasa to MC. He also sees the difficult atmosphere between the MC and Nobuna thanks to that little incident with Katsue (grope and got catch in the act by Nobuna) and vowed to help them get together.

Now comes Mitsuhide. Remember last volume when she misunderstood Nobuna and thought she was commanding her to marry the MC? Well, she's really getting into it, showing up at the MC's place in a wedding kimono and doing the bowing thing with 3 fingers touching the floor and declaring that they'll be married (yep, Mitsuhide is now fully dere for the MC) and talking about the love nest she'll be building for them (last volume. I didn't cover it, but Nobuna had ordered Mitsuhide to go construct a castle at some location to connect trade routs i think? It was originally supposed to be MC's reward, but after that thing with Katsue... Yeah...).

Over at Nobuna, Nobukatsu convinces her to repair the relationship between Nobuna and the MC. Of course, anime timing happens and she comes in right in the middle of Mitsuhide declaring about how she's the MC's wife and their new love nest. That Mitsuhide misunderstood Nobuna and thought she was ordering the marriage between her[Mitsuhide] and the MC does come out, but before Nobuna could clarify and calm down, Mitsuhide also asked the MC to "take responsibility for touching my naked body and stealing my lips" (last volume, Mitsuhide had to perform CPR to revive MC and then directly shared body heat to warm him up). MC had no idea what's going on, and Nobuna's apoplectic, disbanding his troops, busting the MC back to foot soldier, and kicking him over to Ise (a more remote province I think?).

Turns out this is part of Nobuna's strategy. Now we're introduced to the final member of the Oda family's 4 great generals (Katsue, Niwa, and Mitsuhide are the other 3), Takigawa Kazumasu. When Oda was forced to retreat due to the Azai-Asakura forces last chapter, Kazumasu should have sent help, but she didn't. However, there's no way Nobuna can ask about this without damaging their relationship, so instead, she's using the MC. Plus, with him no longer general of an army, if he goes and asks about it it won't be "accusations of disloyalty" and "demanding answers", so he'd be able to get answers without souring the relations between Nobna and Kazumasu.

MC goes to Ise and gets caught by pirate, all of them girls. He gets brought to a ship where he faces Kuki Yoshitaka (the 27 year old 2nd in command who seems to have a complex about being a Christmas cake) and Kazumasu (a sadistic little girl who looks identical to the head miko in Kyoto). Kazumasu doesn't want to send forces to help against Takeda (her skin'll get ruined on land?) but relents if the MC does a few things. There's an island nearby that's been taken over by foreigners (particularly a church knight patrolling the beach), and the MC has to chase him out. The MC goes and manages to last against the knight thanks to super dodging skills (I think the knight eventually tired out due to having to fight in heavy armor). Then a young bishonen priest comes from the island and calms the situation down (The knight is revealed to be a beautiful Italian girl with red hair then). I can't figure out what their romanji names are from the Chinese, so I'll just call them Priest and Knight for now. Turns out the whole thing was a misunderstanding: The supposed fortifications and defenses on the island turns out to just be decorations the Europeans put up for a Christmas celebration, and the Europeans thought that Kazumasu's people were marauding pirates coming to kill them all. With the misunderstanding cleared (plus it turns out they knew Francis the nun, and with news that Nobuna is not oppressing Christians, they decide to join Oda's side).

With that clear, Kazumasu will send aid against Takeda on one last condition, she gets to ask the MC one question while touching his head after they win (it's revealed earlier that Kazumasu has the power to make someone tell the truth by touching them on the head, which she demonstrated by making Kuki admit that she actually likes young men and is something of a shotacon earlier).

On the battle, Takeda's focused her forces to take down Matsudaira first, and she's being badly outmatched thanks to Takeda's navy coming down the river. The navy gets checked by Kazumasu's pirate forces however, and the MC units with Matsudaira to try and repel Takeda. The MC tries to draw on history to figure out how they can force the Takeda forces back, and the only things he remember is that Takeda Shingen supposedly died due to sickness, which forced them to retreat. There's also rumors that he was instead assassinated. The MC decides to go incognito to Takeda's camps to figure it out. Kazumasu joins him (she's apparently also a ninja).

They reach a hot spring and decide to disguise themselves as local hunters that stumbled across it. Meanwhile, Shingen Takeda got out of her armor, had her twin sister pretend to be her, and went off incognito to get a good soak in at the hot springs. The MC with Kazumasu meets Takeda and their cover was blown rather quickly.

They don't fight though, mostly due to the MC being mesmerized by Takeda's rather impressive bust. They talk quite a bit, and under the influence of "I have boobs, you must obey", the MC reveals Takeda's future, how she dies due to sickness or assassination, but since she doesn't look sick at all...

Takeda hears this and decides to conquer her fate with her own power. That night, she fully prepared herself for an assassination, which came in the form of that guy who tried to assassinate Nobuna via sniping in volume 3. She blocks the bullet with an iron fan and catches him with her sword.

Since Takeda did not die, the Takeda forces did not retreat and Matsudaira is in trouble. She gets outmaneuvered at every turn and the Takeda cavalry wrecks her forces. She eventually gets pushed out of her territory, but I'm not entirely sure about the events there...

I think it ends with the MC and co preparing to defend Mino, which is Takeda's next target? There's also some preparations about getting Kazumasu's cannons for the defense? Nobuna and her forces are busy fending off Azai-Asakura elsewhere, so the MC and his group are mostly on their own...
