This guide applies to all Visual Novel projects, hosted or Original.

To start an (original) visual novel project at Baka-Tsuki:
  • You must start a thread in the Future Project forum according to the New Project Petition Guidelines (Where Applicable)
  • You must conform to the All Project Startup Guidelines (Where applicable)
  • You must have at leased one committed translator
  • You must demonstrate (a method for removing and) retrieving the Japanese text from the game
  • You must have already translated at leased a minimum of 05% - 20% of the text
Visual novels classified as Hosted Projects, must:
  • Contact a member of staff as each visual Novel will be treated on a case by case basis (depending on content) due to their unique format
  • Have already translated at leased a minimum of 10% - 20% of the text
  • Link(s) to your group main website
  • Conform to the All Project Startup Guidelines (Where applicable)

Just to make sure you clearly understand what we generally permit for visual novels at Baka-Tsuki :
  • Permitted
  • Text Only
  • Must always have a clear notice on the main project page stating that text is the only medium from the game that will be translated, both in English & targeted language.
  • You can post all Japanese text from the game
  • To upload one promotional box image
  • If hosted, Link(s) to your group main website (which you can keep your patches file(s) and in game images )
  • You can format your wiki project page to suit your needs I.e. Clannad Table
  • Each project can have their own specific guideline page regarding formatting of text
  • Forbidden
  • Translate licensed Visual Novels
  • Upload in-game image(s) from the visual novel
  • Direct links to save files or Patches relating to the game

Since Baka-Tsuki has yet to start an original visual novel project, we will be more or less lenient. As long as you can post the Japanese text you are more or less ready to go.
