Alternative Languages Wiki Revision

Post by FNX »

Well maybe I shouldn't say this but I think it's worth to try. Since the moment we dropped the licensed series they have been tagged as abandoned, well not only the English versions were tagged like that but also the alternative languages too since they are tied to the original project, I think that has been a real problem to those works since most of the people thinks those were erased too and can't find their way to the pages anymore, would it be too much trouble to separate them in any way, maybe that would even reactivate some of them, at least Haruhi is done and the post about Spice and Wolf in Spanish has seen a lot of people willing to join but none really stayed, I don't know if that could help those project to get more views but I thought it was worth to at least mention it, hope my English do justice to what I'm thinking

Well, you have a point.

Maybe we can just add "[Eng]" on the "abandon" category, since at the moment it's only the English projects that are at risk of being discontinued.

Which when you think about it, pretty insane & absurd....

Bloody Anglophobe publishers!

Rather, simply put the tag 'liceneced(in english)' and replace the series in 'abandonned' by the stalled projects('eng.').

......

I think I understand......

1. Add an additional tag called "licenced (English)" to projects affected.

2. Move the "Abandoned" Category under the "Stalled" Category.

3. Add the suffix (eng.) to the end of the "Stalled" Category.

Did i get it right Kira?

We should really just have a different part of the sidebar dedicated to alt. languages.... Though it might be a bit harder for some people to find their projects.

If I remember correctly, there was one before, but got removed at some point. Or did I dream?
Though it might be a bit harder for some people to find their projects.
Darklor already tried to arrange the Alternative Language page one year ago, but stopped.
Maybe because nobody gave any feedback (or because it was boring to do everything ^^)?
The topic is here.

Yeah, we can add below the licenced bar 'altenative languages' Spanish, Vietnamese(you may even create a BT viet with all these trans.), Russian, etc.

Re: Alternative Languages

hmm...I really do not wish to show any favourism to any alternative languages at this point. It seems to me that the best course is a compromising of the idea brought to here.

A new category will be created on the side bar.

This will feature all the languages we have for all projects under that language.

under abandon category. i will suffix the tag "[Eng]" since we haven't had any non-english project canclalled i think that's a good compromises.

We have to acknowledge that we are larger then just the Anglophone sphere, and i would like to thank all our alternative language translators for sticking with us. Thank you.

:)

It makes me happy to know we are the only community of translation of Japanese ligh novels that have multiple readers or more then English!

We are one global community and it's not brcause i'm drunk that i'm saying this. I wuv you all.

:p

I

p.s: someone p.,m so it pings my email so i do this. so not going to remember this tomorrow! :D

Seriously? I dont remember that post.. I should read everything here more often, I gave up on this post a while ago and to my surprise it has been resurrected and got a few posts.

Anything you make to get more visits on the alternative language page would be great, I have been in a lot of forums where they don't know there is a place like this and the fact that they could read everything in their own language so it may give us a good boost

Well I feel like helping causes out this month for some reason.

But at least now we have more light on the Alt. Languages.

Re: Alternative Languages

Post by onizuka-gto »

As always, I'm tempted to edit my previous post...

Thank you for the reminder Poke, however after looking at all the alternative languages we have.....

sweet haruhi.

We got so many!

I'm actually wondering if this will fit on the sidebar....

:/

I said that i didn't want to show favourism but....

Not many projects are translated into Tagalog or Esperanto... (seriously? Esperanto? Where is my klingon?! )

Also "User:Darklor/Shakugan no Shana (German)"

Why are you on this page Darklor?

You can, I've been told be able to create a new page for SnS German addition.

It is entirely unnecessary to publish it on your user page.

*facepalm*

Also can someone tell me what this is about?

Aside for the baka-ness of the above.

I did not seriously think hard enough on this, (for obvious reasons).

I still agree that we should have an Alt. Language category but having to face the dilemma of it cascading forever down the page.....

Makes you wonder if two simple clicks on links is a faster option?

Either that, or i have to put on those languages with more then one project in that language....

mmm....

lets list this out first!
  • German
  • Spanish
  • French
  • Vietnamese
  • Russian
  • Brazilian Portuguese
  • Italian
  • Polish
  • Romanian
  • Hungarian
  • Tagalog
  • Norwegian
  • Korean
  • Lithuanian
  • Indonesian
  • Greek
  • Turkish
  • Tagalog
  • Czech
  • Esperanto
did i miss anything out?

Seriously, five years and i still can't get this list code thing to work.

Is it just me or is that feature broken?
:?

Also ,now that i look at it, maybe not so bad.

Maybe.
