Is it always or only the first time loading the app? if it is only the 1st time, most likely due to the backup process still running (especially if the DB size is big)
Nope, sure enough it's doing it persistently. Simply going to the main menu and back to the Novel Lists (Not watched anymore, might have been my imagination), it the top indicator bar moves for like 10 seconds, freezes, and then waits another 20 seconds before anything else appears.

Also, still dont understand why we just dont create an entire new thread given how big this app has gotten

Do DB Backup and Image Backup from Settings -> Storage (make sure process all images is tick), copy the zip files to your phone, download the app, ensure the settings for the backup path is correct and press restore the DB and Images.

Enable quick load on Settings -> General -> Novel Listing?

Most likely Baka Tsuki reject the connection from your device, try using different connection?

btw, I'm on business travel until the end of the month, also I notice the https cert for baka tsuki is invalid. see http://imgur.com/aRU5XMw

I have a number of novels that have had a lot of new volumes and chapters added, but I haven't gotten around to downloading them. I might not be seeing it, but it doesn't seem like there's such an option to download all missing chapters within the novel. Refresh list option only updates the novel entry, while refresh all chapter option only updates already downloaded chapters. Neither actually downloads the non-downloaded chapters/volumes. So I have to long-press every volume to access the download volume option, and repeat it for every volume that doesn't have any chapters.

And since my watched novel list is pretty long (probably about 50 or so), I'm sure there are dozens of chapters and novels not downloaded.

Few options:
1. Enable auto download when updating (Settings -> Update & Notification -> Auto Download Chapter)
2. There should be a button called Download All in each Novel details, this should download those not yet downloaded chapter.

This doesn't apply for external chapter.

Thanks so much, that did the job for me. For long time I had been using HTC G2 phone, but I recently bought Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 so I'm now enjoying reading LNs much more on it than the phone.

However I did notice that the BakaReader EX app uses unusually large amount of RAM. It usually averages around 150-225MB of RAM whereas most of apps that I've been using so far (such as Chrome, Crunchyroll, Gmail, YouTube, etc) averaged about 50GB. That may explain why the app was crash-prone on HTC G2 with its measly 512MB RAM. But even on Galaxy Tab 4 with its 1.5GB RAM (with only one app running alongside BakaReader) it occasionally become sluggish or unresponsive and has to be force-ended.

It makes me wonder if the app has serious memory management issues.

I'm having problems accessing the folder that i have on my external SD card after buying a new phone.
Phone information
Samsung Galixy Prevail LTE ( SM-G360P )
Android version : 4.4.4 (KitKat)
The error message I get is ' unable to create/access folder on external sd card '.
I have searched the web and it would seam that KitKat prevents programs from accessing the external SD card for security reason. Is there any way to get around this with out having to root my phone?
Always on the hunt for good Anime and their associated Light Novels, Manga. :)

It would be great if you can link all files to an online memory like drop box so incase you lose a backup from sd card you can restore it from it or when a sereis is taken down and you dont have a backup

Go to Settings -> Storage -> Database -> Tap on Database Save Location to change to SD Card.

Please note that on KitKat onward, you may need to specify to specific directory on the SD Card due to permission change on Android.
I think it should be pointed to /<external sd card path>/Android/data/com.erakk.lnreader/databases

Maybe you can point the save path to dropbox folder? I never used it before on the phone, so I'm not sure about it.

The storage path can be change on Settings -> Storage, and fyi, the total size can easily hit GBs if you download the big images.

Yo, first time posting here. i found a Problem in the app, when i access a external novel, like Hyoketsu no Kyoukai, i could read it the first time, when I reaccess it, all I get was a blank page. I saved the external page as a archive in the app so i can access it offline but i also get a blank page then.
