I have a 17" and it looks good to me too. Maybe wider screens cause it to be too far on the right so too much white space in the middle causes it to look ugly?

It's from chapter 2 of volume 2.
When Major is talking to Alice about their plans.

The main concern is what the heck is "the extent of the churches of these five points"; out of context that clause seems vague so I went with a direct word-by-word translation.

Could you paste the lines from the translation? I could check in the japanese version and compare, since I don't know chinese.


Anyway, I managed to locate it, page 118 of japanese volume. Very different from chinese it seems.
First, all the places when in the wiki is Kishiwada-kai, in the japanese is Tabara-gumi. Why did they change the name? Tabara-gumi is a yakuza group, like Hirasaka-gumi, not a company.

"大约是个五等规模的堂口，若和更上游的堂口有关连......", I think it's the following bolded sentence (I'll transcribe from start of page until that sentence)

If so I can help but with the japanese script. 五次団体 is the level of the organization. When yakuza groups followers adopt lower people the add a layer. 1次団体 is where the main boss is, but his followers are the boss to those on 2次団体. It's a layered pyramid, a yakuza-inception xD. Alice says Tabara-gumi is a 5次団体, which is a way of saying the largest (lower) layer in the organization, that if upper layers are involved their range for investigation would increase drastically.

Actually, "堂" means hall/court/room (I was thinking of the insides of a Buddhist temple), and "口" means entrance.
Not too far off right?

And "五等规模" is just plain confusing.
