Re: Comiket
I saw temperatures in the 80s and 90s (27-32+ C) quotes on ANN. However, this should not be that shocking, giving that people risk heat stroke there in the winter as well from the crowds alone.Cosmic Eagle wrote:Kagami actually mentioned heatstroke in his twitter....Was it seriously that hot?

I'm back in Japan, after a long and satisfying "vacation" in the U.S. (actually working those conventions is quite a lot of work). As usual, being back in Japan after spending so much time in the States is quite a shock, and I notice things in a surreal light, from the perfect neatness of the uniforms worn by the staff of Narita airport to the ridiculous kawaii mascot characters all around me. The heat is another thing I noticed: 37 degree C / 98 degree F today, with more moisture in the air than the Sea of Japan (oh, the humidity!). Summer is always a hot and sticky business in Japan, but between the post-earthquake power saving measures and the hotter than normal temperatures this year, more than 3000 people have been treated for heat stroke so far, with 130+ very sad deaths.

Re: Comiket
Talking about Comiket, it seems like from time to time you can see some unfortunate souls who cannot resist nature's call - especially among those who line up overnight for limited goods.
You can see the crowd deliberately leaving an open space around the poor guy despite the sheer number of people.

Re: Comiket
I wish I could say something otherwise, but that is an average day where I live for temperatures. A lot that kind of stuff comes from people just being plain stupid. As for Comiket itself, I am still seeing stuff come out, but I have yet to see what I am looking for.larethian wrote:I subscribe to jlist newsletter

Note to self for when I go there.....NEVER EVER DO THIS....If we have to queue overnight....well that's why you go in a group...

Re: Comiket
Look at the photo itself, and see why the crowd is backing away.
The huge torrents for Comiket are starting to appear. When I say "huge," I mean that we are talking at least 10 GB and growing.
