DON'T-MENTION-THAT.
There are some ecchi mangas that I'm still reading such as TLRD and Negima. I dropped High School DxD but the manga wasn't that bad. Plus, Sankarea and Cage of Eden are pretty good, vut I don't know if they are really "ecchi".

@Ainsoph: Mmm... Generally speaking, for series like DxD, I prefer the Light Novel and Anime. The manga usually falls rapidly behind, and I want to see new things, not the same scene for the third time. XD;
On the subject, though, for those who like ecchi:
How do you prefer to get it? Animated? Manga/Pictures? Just the text in Light Novels? ...Something else?
no real preferences here, with each having their own appeals.
the thing with animated ecchi is probably how boob physics is portrayed, imho its only achilles heel. while in manga and illusts there's always the possibility of it going all-out. same with text, though its probably just me with a taste for M-rated fanfics.

Though, personally, I often find text to be the most... ah... uncensored, shall we say? Rarely do you see random beams of light crossing your page...
In the same vein, how much fanservice do you like, if there's going to be any at all? Just a few pantyshots here and there? Frequent focus on it? Enough of it that they're raising a generation of Japanese youth to believe that females are radioactive and their skin glows when exposed to the air?

I suppose I'll rejoin the discussion with this post while ignoring my homework.
It all depends on the feel of the series, horrors, I want none.....lighthearted comedies, I don't mind it as much......I just don't want any ecchi to ruin the feel of the show.
I mean, if I want to get those "fancy" shots and whatnot, I will happily go into my porn folder and get some stuff, leave it out of the things I'm actually interested in.

Oh, I dunno. Horror and eroticism have been mixed for a long time (see vampires as a metaphor for sexual stuff, for example). Higurashi totally has its ultra-sugary moe moments, for example, but that's not what most people remember it for.
For myself, I suppose I care more about the characters than anything else. After a certain amount of fanservice, you start to build up an immunity, so they'd have to do something really crazy to make me even blink twice.

Yeah, and it's really annoying that everyone has even gotten to that point, if they toned it down across the board by like 30%, then it would have a more and better effect on people, as opposed to just being like "Well, he's about to walk in on her changing......*sigh*".
Basically, when you pump in enough ecchi that there is absolutely nothing for porn of the series (there is a direct correlation between amount of fanservice and amount of pr0n produced for a series), you are running it too dry, and need to tone it down.

On the other hand, anime is basically a 12-episode advertisement for the light novels/manga/toys/whatever, so... yeah. XD; At least, the sort of anime I tend to watch is (the sort based on Light Novels).

I do not know about this one. Frankly, people will be perverts when they are perverts. There is some sick stuff out there in the hentai world alone, and you do not need to even try to look for it a lot of the time. The bad thing is that it does not matter who the characters are; nobody is safe. As I have stated in the past, I have problem with this when it compromises the integrity of characters who are not shown to do this kind of activity within canon.
A case in point for an indirect correlation would be K-ON! Yet, if you go to MangaUpdates, you will find a lot of hentai for K-ON! Likewise, Nanoha is another example. About the worst we see is that transformation scenes. Yet, how Nanoha hentai doujinshi are out there?
@Rednal: from the word it itself, fanservice should be sparingly used and timed for max value, imo you want a story to sell, characters to sell, not fanservice as you have enough of that with doujins. its true that with current trends - or should i say seasonal highlights - that amount of eye candy will desensitize fans, as well as ruffle feathers among the ishihara species.
though, on an opposite note, maxing out the ecchi and STILL not going all out as is possible with love comedies of the harem variety can be thought of as the ultimate tease.
@ainsoph: kinda reminds me of the reference to ah my goddess hentai doujins in some other thread here.. the things i shouldn't have seen/read/heard..

Well, yeah, even I had my hand translating a Lucky Star doujin, so I certainly know that nothing is safe out there.....I've never seen Nanoha, so I can't speak for that.
K-On! with 5 (to 8 ) girls, and no guys...what do you expect?
Rednal wrote:Harem series usually make me sad. I feel bad for all the girls who like the protagonist but are left heartbroken in favor of the Designated Heroine.
Actual harem endings, though, are win. Everyone can be happy. =D
I agree 100% oddly. Although, I will always favor the loli....

this is why i prefer harem settings to be left to the VN realm, at least there's specific ends, not just trigger all sorts of flags and keep the girls hanging..

I DID like his personality, yes. He absolutely had the right idea. If anime shows went for the girls I liked (I'm looking at you, Shuffle; Sia was always my favorite), I'd probably be more relaxed about it... but I hate seeing cute girls crying and then brushed aside for someone who's usually the most brainless and boring character on the show. Especially because the girls I like the most are usually among the losers. >o<
For a romance show, I'd rather see the guy pick ONE girl at the very start, and have the others never be more than friends.
