Simply using 'had' is wrong.
It's probably transcription error, but you typed asona. アソナ VS アンナ

"Ai had a mother: Anna and Anna herself had a daughter. All the villagers approved of this situation, it surely was gratifying." to "Ai had a mother. Anna and himself also had a daughter. All the villagers approved this situation, it surely was gratifying.". I also omitted the "of" for better sounding of the sentence.
- Since KuroiHikari has said that simply using "had" is wrong in this context, I will change "Ai had a mother. Anna and himself also had a daughter." to "Ai had gained a mother. Anna and himself had also gained a daughter." I am using "gained" here because Hiyono had used "gained" in his/her translation of this part, so I assume that "gained" or a similar word was used in the JP text.
- I don't think we should omit the "of" because "approve" is like giving an official nod to the proposal/request. "Approve of" is like showing a favourable opinion of something. For example—"His boss approved his project" would mean that his boss accepted his proposal for the project(said yes). On the other hand, "His boss approved of his project" would mean that his boss held a favourable opinion about his project(The project seems like a good idea).
Thus, I'm changing "All the villagers approved this situation" back to "All the villagers approved of this situation".

Yeah, guys, if you think something is wrong with my translation please don't hesitate to say so, I won't take offense as long as you don't be a complete jerk about it. I never claimed to be great at translating and I never will claim that, so I'm pretty sure everyone's opinion is more valid than mine
Apart from that, no update today :/
I feel like just saying no updates on Friday in general, I have stuff on...

I used an OCR program to extract the text, so sometimes it'll depict double consonant as "tsu" in hiragana or "so" in katakana, and since the difference is really small, sometimes I missed it when transliterating >.<KuroiHikari wrote:Simply using 'had' is wrong.

I tried to translate "自己" to japanese out of curiousity, and it turns out to be "自分 (romaji: jibun)" in Japanese, which translated "me" or "myself" in english. So this really re-assure everything that the context is refering to Youki in both version.MochaCookies wrote:the translation sounds correct; and the meaning of 自己 is oneself, which in this case applies to youki.

It's about understanding the context. The Chinese simply used "有了" which, as translated by MPA, just means to "have". However, the context of the situation is about the particular arrangement they have with Ai through which she's "gained" parents and they've "gained" a daughter. The discrepancy created by excluding Youki from this situation was why I even noticed something was off; I don't read this series. Be careful - translating literally does not necessarily equate to translating accurately.

Yes, the fact that Youki excluded himself when he was thinking who has gained a daughter was the very reason I felt something was off too.

MPA you suck...
There's no way, everyone has mistakes, you aren't percfect... Even translator who already translated alone more than 10 volumes has mistakes, us who haven't even a volume... Well, we will mistake somethings >.<

Yeah I know, I expect me to make plenty of mistakes... But do we really have to talk about them for this long and keep bringing them up after they are resolved? -_-
This is part of the reason I didn't want to translate on BT.

There's no need, talk once, it don't need to get too long, as the translator can feel sad for sucking on his translations(joke)
Well, anyway, there's no need to spend 2 pages of discussion on this matter...

Same, I didn't intend to mock you or anything like that. And I never said you're a bad TL, on the contrary, you update regularly and seem dedicated so I like you(as a translator ). You just made a mistake, something which happens to the best of us. So, sorry if you felt offended.pygmalion wrote:Well...
