Umineko no Naku Koro ni [Visual Novel]
Umineko no Naku Koro ni takes place in the year 1986 during the time frame of October 4 and October 5 on a secluded island named Rokkenjima (六軒島). The head of a wealthy family named Kinzō Ushiromiya, who lives on and owns Rokkenjima, is near death, and eleven of his family members arrive on the island to discuss how Kinzō's assets will be divided once he is dead. Also on the island are five of Kinzō's servants, and his personal physician. After the eleven family members arrive, a typhoon traps them on the island and shortly after people start to get mysteriously murdered.
It's Unlicensed and I have the script in Japanese and might also be able to find it in Chinese
The first Visual Novel (Legend of the golden witch) in the series is fully translated and just needs to be heavily edited.
The second one (Turn of the golden witch) though is without a translator.
So does anyone want to see this translated?

Re: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
you say "visual novel" ....
is that political correctness for "manga" or what?
Just for your information we don't translate manga.
officially anyway.... our Red ops are professional.

Doesn't "Visual Novel" refer to games like Clannad, Higurashi, etc?

Re: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
hmmm, well that's a sub-genre of a game category.Kaisos Erranon wrote:Doesn't "Visual Novel" refer to games like Clannad, Higurashi, etc?
he doesn't mention anything about it as a game, so i just assumed it was a print.
But visual novel games are still difficult, you see the level of commitment we have for clannad?
i don't think we can ever get another project like that up, without a core of people to pitch in.
its a miracle there are people who are willing to help on that, considering the normal way they are pretty secretive, and jealously guard it.
dammn captalist dogs!

really?
what do you mean by "readable" English?
Did you just translated the Japanese text literally?
did you use a translation robot or you did it yourself manually?

Re: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Honestly, getting a dedicated translator is the hardest part to any project. If you're willing to translate the entire thing, I don't see why you can't just stick it on the wiki.
If Oni really doesn't want this to happen, there might be a place where you can dump the scripts for editing. I'll ask the guy who runs it for permission before posting the link. I don't think he minds though.
Also, for those who don't know, this visual novel was made by the same person who did Higurashi. Seems interesting.

Re: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
I can help with the editing of the first novel, preferably if you have Chinese text along with it.
If you have a Chinese RAW of the 2nd game, I COULD help, but right now I'm more interested in getting the first one done. If you don't want to reply here, send me a PM.
I'm VERY INTERESTED
P/S: And yes, this is created by the 7th Expansion, written by Ryukishi07, same people who brought you Higurashi >:3

Re: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Moogy (the guy who runs the other site) says that the TL wiki (name of the site) was meant to be public. Here's the site. If you want to talk to Moogy, he's available on IRC on #[email protected].
Either way, I'm interested in getting this project started/speed up.

Re: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
well that doesn't look so difficult, as someone mentioned getting the translator is always the problem. but since you've done it already i don't really have any objections to it.
but as always, we can't host any files for any patches or game files, we will only host text scripts in Japanese/Chinese/English.

Cool. If you want to make a project page right away, I'll do it (if you can send me the scripts).

Re: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
If anyone has the way to legally purchase this game and any others along with it like CLANNAD, it might be a good idea to post that to prevent a lot of questions as to how to obtain the games.

Re: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Good idea. Thanks for bringing it up.
The first game is available here. This store also sells it, but it seems to be sold out.
EDIT: Started to make the page. I'm gonna upload the scripts later. Page is here.
