Initially, I was going to suggest the original Kino no Tabi series, but unfortunately, Tokyopop has been very vague on whether or not the Kino no Tabi novels are unlicensed. (book 2 has been on hiatus since last year and it appears that they did the same with the 'scrapped princess' series)
Gakuen Kino is a parody of the original Kino no Tabi series, same author and same illustrator.
To anyone who is interested, please recommend this (or Kino no Tabi) to the higher-ups. Thanks.
Yes, I have TokyoPop's first volume of Kino. SO GOOD! Apparently, the second, third, and even the fourth maybe are already translated, it's just that they are having liscensing issues.
I AM ALL IN FAVOR OF TRANSLATING THE PARDODY SPINN-OFF SERIES. Why? Cause it's by the same guy who did the original Kino. Plus, there's only like 2-3 volumes and a new one is released each year.
Tokyopop's version of Kino no Tabi sucks it can't even be called the same series
Here's a summery of Gakuen Kino
The story finds Kino attending a high school with her talking cell phone strap, Hermes. When students start turning into monsters, Kino transforms in a gun toting magical girl, but her efforts are thwarted by the incompetent would be rival hero claiming to be her partner, Shizu.

Dude, other people who have read both the JAP version and ENG version have praised Kino no Tabi for its translation. It is the same Kino, Andrew Cunninghams translation was very good.
Like I said, this parody of Kino would make a great project.
I'm not talking about the translation. I'm talking about how Tokyopop mangled the chapter order, how they took out the pictures, and how they changed the cover.
They completely ruined how the author wanted the book to be read.
"Please note, we have added a consequence for failure.Any contact with the chamber floor will result in an unsatisfactory mark on your official test record, followed by death. Good luck."
The change in the chapter order....was good. I know the original chapter order, and the change they did made it much better, and more easy to follow as a book. That's my opinion.
They changed the cover, to my dismay, but they did not take out the pictures. They merely shrunk them and made many copies of them. lol
All in all, this is why I am so LOVING Seven Sea's, they make no changes, not even to the size of the book.
I think we should consider translating Kino no Tabi vol. 2, TokyoPop represenatives are saying that the liscensing issues are not looking good, so I think that after a year of waiting, we should finally bring to the fans what they have been waiting for. It would easily become a hugely popular project.
Uhm, could you resurect the Gakuen Kino Mainpage and the translated work? It could get the teaser category, since I collect teasers I wouldnt mind to clean the page up to fit in the downgrade.
