I have begun trying to translate the light novel series よくわかる現代魔法 (Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou, Comprehensible Modern Magic) by 桜坂 洋 (Hiroshi Sakurazaka) from the original Japanese, and would be happy to see it join the ranks of Baka-Tsuki projects.

Unfortunately, since I don't know many Kanji it's very slow going. Additional translators would be appreciated.

Hey at least its a start. All translations start from a single letter, then to a single sentence, a single line, a single paragraph and slowly evolve to a lot more! So hes at the starting point already!

I've finally finished the first page! I found a site (http://jisho.org/kanji/radicals/) that lets me find kanji much more easily, so i should be able to move faster from now on.

Unfortunately, my translation is still a mostly-literal rough draft. This is bad, because the first page is a flyer for a (fictional) magic academy, and my translation doesn't sound anything like a real advertisement.

I apologize for the long hiatus. First I ran into a bit that I had trouble translating, then in the same day my computer broke and I lost my copy of the novels, then I got involved with 「魔法少女きららとさらら」 which seems a bit easier to read.

I will likely not be returning to the project for some time. I originally began this project partly because I enjoyed the anime but mostly to help me learn Japanese. Since then I have discovered that merely reading, as opposed to translating, is not only much easier but also probably more conducive to learning Japanese properly. I will try to return sometime in the future when I know more Japanese.

(Knowing more English turns of phrase would probably help too, but I don't have much motivation to study my native language; Japanese is just so much more fun. It's gotten to the point where even if I can't understand them, I can tell what characters are saying in Japanese anime better than the English movies I've watched recently. Though to be fair, those movies were British; I might have better luck with American ones. It also might have something to do with the fact that I tend to wear headphones when watching anime.)

i think that Mahou Sensou / Magical Warfare is a way better [roject than this one
