Their duel was actually mentioned in other volumes too. It's one of those things that we'll probably never see like the war with the orange guilds

Re: SAO Anime Discussion Thread
Now that I've reread that chapter, it does have a lot of details that are either vital to the plot, or vital to Kirito/Asuna's relationship. It would make sense to make it into 2 episodes. The only way I can see them squeeze it all in one episode is by lessening the details of K/A interactions, write Heathcliff off the cast (he's not all that important yet), and work Kirito's deduction into a narration parallel with the other people's scenesChloesong wrote:For ep. 5
Personally I thinkSpoiler! :Idk. What do you guys think?Spoiler! :
The story about Kirito and Asuna's first duel is in ME1. It's shown in manga form, drawn by Kawahara Reki-sensei himself. The chapter is already scanlated by Tap.Chloesong wrote:Spoiler! :

@ushwood: I don't see why it is fail.
@ Duel: yeah, its in one of the MEs. don't count on it not being published though, the rewrite is a possible method for reki to put it in LN form.
@fitting it into one episode: Who really cares? Asuna is in it, but other than some background story, it can be skipped altogether since they are not planning on putting surviving Orange players in another game into the anime. and the next one is warmth of the heart, which we want to see as soon as possible(fine, SOME of us do...)

... I thought you meant he was holding the axe the wrong way or something...
eh, i don't recall it saying anywhere that you can't not dual wield, just that the dual wield skillset belongs to kirito, ie he has sword skills that use two blades... i'm sure people can wield whatever they want...

Technically, those are axes.
Well, it might be possible to equip weapons in both hands, just that it's effectively useless without that skill set?

This is the case, yes.Tap wrote:Well, it might be possible to equip weapons in both hands, just that it's effectively useless without that skill set?
But I guess a member of a red guild must know what's efficient and what's not

Considering they tried to attack "the black swordsman"...
Not all of them are that smart, it seems.

Yeah, I think author mentioned in Warmth of the Heart, that equipping 2 weapons is possible, but you can only whack normally without System Assist, and thus, no sword skill. Kirito is the only one who has sword skill which requires 2 swords.

Re: SAO Anime Discussion Thread
Yep, right here.I couldn't comprehend his intentions. After having manipulated the equipment figure earlier, with the current system, his equipped status should be only the sword in his left hand; holding onto another weapon with his right hand should not be of any use whatsoever. On the contrary, with something that's considered an irregular equipped status like that, it would not be possible to activate sword skills.
. . .
It was obviously a sword technique arranged by the system. But—I have never heard of anything like a skill that uses two swords!
...I was the one who translated that, but I honestly have to say that I don't remember it at all.
And considering how they can't even do more damage than Kirito's Battle Healing, that guild probably isn't even a tenth of Laughing Coffin's level of strength / knowledge.
But that guy's totally activating a sword skill. So either a mistake or axes can be dual-wielded.

Re: SAO Anime Discussion Thread
Or maybe it's the weapon itself? Like the opposite of a 2h sword.

Time for everyone (Me included) to go reread, to find out if its stated anywhere that no one has (non sword related) dual wielding...

Re: SAO Anime Discussion Thread
Do you really believe that? That axes are sooooo different from swords that sword dual-wielding is a unique skill and a big sensation, and axe dual-wielding is something so common that an average-level thug can do it?Tap wrote:or axes can be dual-wielded.
