Hi there. While editing I am having some confusion regarding what to keep in caps and all. For example: "king", "lord", "god", "cult lord" and such. I believe that since all of them represents some position in this world's society they should be in caps. Just as same to ours "President/Prime Minister/Minister" and such. They should be in lower case when used as a noun, capitalized when used as a term of address. Lord and God are only capitalized for God from the Bible, so there is no need to capitalize phrases like "my lord" or "abc is a god" though "Lord XYZ" would need to be capitalized since it's a term of address. Similarly, king should only be capitalized when it is a specific title, such as "King Kusanagi." Stuff like "as a king you should blah blah blah..." or "the king jumped up and down" should not be capitalized. It does get a bit subtle with statements like "George V is one of the kings of Britain" where "kings" is being used as a general noun, versus "George V is King of Britain" where "King of Britain" is a specific title. Where does that phrase occur? In that particular case, it could be simplified to "power of spirit body separation" without much loss in meaning. "Spirit body" and its separation and detachment already appeared in Volume 6 with Princess Alice's introduction. I make my ePUBs manually; the use of <nowiki></nowiki> rather than triple apostrophes makes it easier (for me, and maybe others) to convert the text into html/xhtml. The same would be true of double apostrophes and the <nowiki></nowiki> tag. I've made the mistake of equating double apostrophes with quotation marks (and then replacing all of them). I have a question about line 65 in volume 5 chapter 2. There is a line break between two sentences that appears to be spoken by the same character, and there is no quotation marks around the second "part." Any and all edits are, frankly, a huge help to me. Since (looking at the speed I do these things) I have a tendency to rush sometimes. Quick question Sharramon, whats up with all the stuttering? I'm not second guessing your translations, but this author must LOVE making its characters seem real by making them stutter every other freaking sentence.

I apologize if I'm bothering you. But, in chapter 2 there is a weird sentence: "To jump into the game." It feels incomplete, or just completely unnecessary. I know I'm just a reader, and all your doing is directly translating, but I think you should either expand the sentence or possibly remove it.

Well it actually seems fine.... perhaps I should change it to "To jump into the game..." it's like a sort of statement of.... surprise? Or something similar. I'm reluctant to take it out since it was actually in the book exactly like that. I don't mind changing some things about a sentence but taking out a whole sentence altogether seems a bit....

Okay, and I completely agree with you about detracting from a work. It just seems a bit off, and incomplete.

Just a tip on translation. Sometimes you need to completely reword and even add words to the phrase for it to make sense. English often needs a subject for the meaning to be clear. Chinese and Jap don't seem to need that as often.

Its grammatical errors. Translation errors are not my forte ( and I personally don't think there are any. I am able to follow the translation flow.). As to the places....near about everywhere. My main confusion is regarding the tense. There's a continuous change between past and present tense (leaving aside the dialogue). Also, there are errors for punctuations...and many more. Most of the edits have been minor and towards changing things like "is" to "was", making things plural/singular of that sort of nature, trying to make things a bit more uniform looking in terms of numbers of [......],etc. Even more head scratching since I've encountered Yoshino's speech, LOL so I just left them how they were. The more dramatic changes I tried leaving TLC tags as hidden notes directly in the text, which you've removed so I assume they weren't too bad.

Ideally, like the latest edits, we'll just discuss them in the relevant discussion pages (There are few scenes that that I changed from the earlier chapter 1 edits that I'll pull out to discussion pages to go through later). But reading through it hasn't been too bad, there have only been 1-2 lines at most that in each chapter have been really confusing. Usually in the narrative bits of the text where some sequences seem a bit jumbled. The dialog has been fine. I guess the Editors can fix that...but the meanings might end up getting distorted. BT's never had minimum requirements for quality, and I don't think that it's a good idea to set such a precedent for it. Though it is a little troubling when translations are wrong, I think readers would be much happier to hear that you continued rather than giving up. I think that all stella meant to say was that you should feel free to ask for help when you think that there's something that you're not completely understanding. Besides, if you just take care when translating, skipping lines won't be a problem at all. Aah, kelihatannya jadi salah persepsi. Saat itu teh_ping bilang bahwa dia akan menerjemahkan jilid 10 SAO sendiri sebagai kontribusi terakhirnya dalam proyek SAO (sebagai hadiah perpisahan) dan jilid 11 dan berikutnya diterjemahkan oleh orang lain sementara dia menerjemahkan proyek lainnya. Hanya saja di singapura baru ada 40 copy. Tidak habis pikir bagaimana ceritanya bisa berubah menjadi seperti itu... -/-a

Um I don't know Spanish?.. if you're referring to the English TL tho, I've done the prologue of vol.9 and am currently *slooowly* going through chapter 1. If it wasn't for the text ver I'd be going even slower. As it is, this may take a while. The writing style is... unique. (and painful.) (emphasis on painful.)

Don't harass the man about the translation. Not that it will even get to him in time. I believe Seitsuki has been away from a computer for a while. Also, regarding the American v British English, I don't think he should even need a note. Editors seem to take too much liberty with the writing and go beyond fixing spelling/grammatical errors. Mind you, one of the major differences between the two forms is spelling, it's still an issue on the editors' part, since many of them don't know the British spellings, and most of them don't notice that the same "spelling errors" are done in the same way again and again.
