Hello. Just wanted to ask if you needed a TLC for Tokyo Ravens, since you're using Chinese-English translations.

Might plan to translate some chapters as well.
[[User:Xersax|Xersax]] ([[User talk:Xersax|talk]]) 04:04, 21 January 2014 (CST)

:I'm more than happy and willing to help out with TLC, since its easier than translating a whole chapter. I might churn out a chapter next week to see if my style is okay with you.
Check the Tokyo Ravens JP raw contents table before changing chapter titles. It is unnecessary to change what was written in "engrish" aka katakana. Example: Volume 5 Story 4 - Cold Memory In Dark (コールド・メモリー・イン・ダーク). :) [[User:Angelanime|Angelanime]] ([[User talk:Angelanime|talk]]) 17:14, 12 March 2014 (CDT)

:Good catch. I don't actually have access to JP raws, and my Chinese translations had translated the title into Chinese. Might want to check the other titles of this volume as well. [[User:Lygophile|Lygophile]] ([[User talk:Lygophile#top|talk]]) 19:40, 12 March 2014 (CDT)
Hey there, just wanted to ask what's your translating process like. Since I'm new to translating and am looking for tips to speed up my own process. [[User:Xersax|Xersax]] ([[User talk:Xersax|talk]]) 11:14, 14 March 2014 (CDT)

:I generally open up the Chinese text, my text editor, and Google Translate all at once. Basically I just read through the Chinese text while typing the English translation into my editor, going to Google Translate for certain phrases if necessary. When I encounter a tough phrase or proper nouns, I generally open up new tabs to Google things. When I'm finished with a chapter, I use Microsoft Word to spellcheck it. Not so sure if I answered your question to your satisfaction, so feel free to ask something more specific. [[User:Lygophile|Lygophile]] ([[User talk:Lygophile#top|talk]]) 13:01, 14 March 2014 (CDT)

::Mmm okay, I do about the same process. Guess I need to translate more to get used to it. Totally different kind of mindset from editing. [[User:Xersax|Xersax]] ([[User talk:Xersax|talk]]) 10:57, 31 March 2014 (CDT)

:::I recommend reading over each line after you translate it to check its English 'flow', especially if English is your first language. If it doesn't sound right, shuffle around sentence structures or such. [[User:Lygophile|Lygophile]] ([[User talk:Lygophile#top|talk]]) 11:55, 31 March 2014 (CDT)

I want to ask if you could translate volume 10 first after you finish volume 5. I'm interested in what happens in the story after the events covered in the anime. Since anime ended with covering only up to the end of volume 9. [[User:Angelanime|Angelanime]] ([[User talk:Angelanime|talk]]) 17:44, 25 March 2014 (CDT)

Hey Lygophile, I'm an editor that's relatively new to Baka-Tsuki. I was wondering if there was room for one more editor in the ''Tokyo Ravens'' LN series because it seemed like you had quite a few translators but not many editors. I've already worked as an editor before, but not on Baka-Tsuki, so anything that I could do to help would be great for getting used to Baka-Tsuki. Is there an IRC channel or some other way of communicating with you guys? The talk page seems kinda chatboard-y. == category revamp, etc. ==

Hi,

I'm Darkoneko, one of the "usually inactive" custodians of this wiki. I'm kinda allergic to forums and generally prefer to laze in a corner of our IRC channel, so you might not have heard of me before. Either way, sorry for the late introduction.

I've started with a few people a great revamping of the category system. It was pointed to me that you had similar projects in mind, so I'm there to enlist your help :)

One of my goals is to easily allow readers to search novels by name, publisher, language, genre, and status (finished/active/stalled...). For that purpose, a list of categories will be listed in the sidebar instead of the current enormous and unreadable list.

Here's what has been done / on track :
[[:Category:Root]] : the Root of all <s>evil</s> categories.
*[[:category:Author]] : each author has his/her own category, which contain the main page of each of their novels (so far it's always the english version)
*[[:category:Light novel]] : each language has its own subcategory to allow easy search by language.
*[[:category:Original novel]] : for the few we host. They're all in english so no need for subcats.

*[[:Category:Project status]] : maintenance category. Most subcats already existed.

We are in dire need of title standardisation, so your proposal on [http://www.baka-tsuki.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=8839 there] interests me. Tho, the problem is what to use as the initial title. In your exemple, everything takes for base the english title (A simple survey) rather than the japanese one, which strikes me as weird. But translators might not like any change on that :)

More to come a bit later

[[User:Darkoneko|DarkoNeko]] <small>[[User_Talk:Darkoneko|talk]]</small> 17:31, 1 February 2014 (CST)
:Don't forget to sign your messages with <nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>, else i have to check the page history to know who wrote the message ;)
:I need a way to properly separate teasers from full projects. Right now since only the sidebar novels were given the category light novel, it's their separation. We'll probably need a dedicated category later.
:For the sidebar languages, good idea. It's either that or linking by default to the english category. to be decided
:I've seen you started categorising the visual novel. It's the right idea, however, could you rename it to [[:Category:Visual_novel]] for consistency with the [[:Category:Light_novel|other]] [[:Category:Original_novel|categories]] ?
== RE: Language Editing Guidelines ==

The short answer is yes, I'm planning to finish it...but I'm best at working in bursts of inspiration, and usually stick to them--a terrible work ethic, I know--so unfortunately, I'm not very confident that it actually will be done. I'll try to bump it up on my priority list though. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

As for SimpleNav, it's been designed with the wiki's naming convention in mind, so its automated system should work as long as that convention holds (i.e. LIGHT NOVEL:VolumeX ChapterY and LIGHT NOVEL:VolumeZ, or LIGHT NOVEL:Volume X Chapter Y and LIGHT NOVEL:Volume Z). Presuming that at the very least, the ending chapter is noted in the template. Even on pages with irregular naming though, the manual override system is there, which basically turns it into a simple template for making the standard table that has a lot of irrelevant bytes. Have you read the usage notes I placed on the template page? -[[User:AKAAkira|Akira]] ([[User talk:AKAAkira|talk]]) 23:46, 6 April 2014 (CDT)
== RE: Cloudii's sandbox ==

Was looking through your sandbox of proposals and I think the "Sandbox/testo" page layout looks amazing for the default project listing page. There's some clean up left but I like that idea better than the one you have for your actual "Sandbox/ProposedProjectPage" example. The proposed project page seems too have a bit too much info considering the large number of projects, but your proposed one would be great as a "detailed listing of projects" that could be clickable from a "Sandbox/testo"-styled page. That would probably reduce computation cost for the server as well, since people could land on the lower(?) cost "Sandbox/testo"-styled page but would still have the option of the more detailed one if they wanted that info. In any case, both of these are great work and hopefully one (or both) of them will get made into the actual project listing page. Congrats on your main page idea getting selected, btw! --[[User:Rydenius|Rydenius]] ([[User talk:Rydenius|talk]]) 02:07, 7 April 2014 (CDT)
I am unsure whether I understand the last sentence but if you mean that I should upload the book unto my computer and use a program to do the bulk of the translation, aside from the fact that I believe uploading copyrighted material is illegal, I do not have the technological capacity to do that, so I'm afraid that my process will remain read phrase, doublecheck words I'm unsure of, translate into english and then type my rough translation(and it is rough, the complexity of the task really eats away at my punctuation skills and for speed's sake I often can't spend the time to get a sentence just right, so if you want to help please edit). Good job with chapter 3 of Presidential election and the queen. I didn't expect that development, but I like where it's heading. Sashiko just a quick question is the untouchable 2062 a separate Sstory of the past?
Untouchable- takes place over a decade before the high school student characters during the World war three era mentioned in Miyuki's history book.
