I just went ahead and translated the rest of the Japanese names of the chapters. I noticed a few chapters having different ordering comparing the the Web novel. The current chapter 16 should be the 19th chapter from the web novel since, the naming make sense with the chapter's contents (trying to be as spoiler-free as possible). But the problem here lies in 'Black Headed Dog' chapter's contents (according to the web novel's version), which will be very weird without reading chapter 17-19 (preparation, armor, and hourglass) first. Although since the Light novel's version is different from the web novel's one, the contents might be slightly different(but both should be talking about Raphtaria's memory). With that said, what do you guys suggest we should do about this chapter('black headed dog')? Should I just translate according to the webnovel's flow, meaning: re-arranging 'Black Headed Dog' to ch 19?
 There is also chapter 20, 'sword', I don't remember reading any of the web novel's chapter that was close or similarly named around the time line of volume one ( before Wave 1 and a day or two after ). Should we just skip this chapter for now?

- why Fittoria(present Filorial Empress) not included as list of hero?(carriage hero, the forgotten 8th of 7 star heroes) 
- why whip hero name is Taniko?(that's nickname Naofumi give to her, the real name is Wyndia(since my katakana name reading not too good, it's sound like that to me at least)) 
- why the ship hero name is rough?(it based on Raphtalia, so it ought to be Raph-chan. Yes, CHAN is part of the name, thus it would be Raph-chan-chan if other use suffix chan) 
- I never read any part that Filo ever being chosen by the axe weapon. It already midori's by time it spread out 
- likewise, Taniko(Wyndia) not originally meant to be whip hero. It supposed to be Rato's, but she use Wyndia as shield when the weapon approach her, thus it end up as Wyndia's 
- who the heck is Kagami?(u probably meant Glass, the fan hero, though I dunno how u end up with that name instead...) 
- why クズ not included as one of king alternate name?(even history book in 2nd to last chapter of main tale use that name instead) 
- why ビッチ and アバズレ in 1st princess page translate as same?(I know it literally mean same, but at least use different word for variation... Like b*tch and wh*re instead just b*tch) 
- common error of エアスト translated as instant everywhere 
- Motoyasu's curse series spear is supposed to be lust-envy spear, instead just envy spear 
- still in Motoyasu's, Buryunakku is supposed to be Brionac 
- every hero char(4 main + 7 star + 1 n additional 8) have 0の(weapon name) and 0xの(weapon name)... As these are only weapon that allow to damage final enemy(I mention this due Naofumi page include 0の盾 in his skill list) 
- why アトラ read as alta?(it's either Atla or Atra) 
- why there are only 1 Gaerion page? There at least 2(3 if gaiden included) different Gaerion that exists in story(Gaerion(parent of Wyndia), (Gaerion(Pet of Naofumi also pet of Wyndia(male)), and Gaerion(in gaiden story, pet of Naofumi and little sister of Wyndia(female))

Hi, regarding Vol 1 chapter 10 お子様ランチ and Vol 1 side story 2 お子様ランチの旗, I am not sure whether did the publisher or author just put up one of the main chapters as a side story. But I can tell that chapter 10 お子様ランチ is based on web novel's お子様ランチの旗 and side story 2 お子様ランチの旗 is based on web novel's 旗、再び. Or Maybe you want to wait until volume 7 is up, then we do the side story which we can put a note there saying "Unable to finish the volume due to repetitive chapter names with unknown story content". Thanks for translating, but I want to ask about what kind of differences are there between the light novel and the web novl version? Is it something like SAO or Mahouka that first started as a web novel?

Light novels are physical novels that got published by publishers, they usually have illustrations. While Web novels are basically free on the authors' respective websites for those web novels, they don't usually have illustration and the chapters might not be nicely divided into sections (A.K.A arc or volume) comparing to the Light novels, which is the case for Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari (there's no arc or volume or even chapter number on the web novel version of tate no yuusha no nariagari). - [[User:Alpaca|Alpaca]] ([[User talk:Alpaca|talk]]) 02:38, 25 August 2014 (CDT)

As a measure of courtesy. The initial Translator had done 75% of the work, with the rest being stalled by real life. Since he didnt indicate that he abandon it, I want to leave him to finish it. If somebody post a c20 link up there, it will be like a slap to the face of the working TL. It will be easy to lose motivation to keep working. As an editor I have NO objection to squeeze every last effort from translators, but by the same token editors should be careful of their feelings and motivations.

Gaelion is the name of Tanikos dad, after deaf eating the wrath dragon in a previous chapter he possessed Gaelion smaller so it is basically 2 souls in one body that will fuse consciousness as he matures.

There are a lot of minor mistakes past Chapter 31, and I can fix those with a smile. However, the story is visibly deteriorating. (I'm a pretty mellow fellow, and can read bad books without complaint, but this is a step worse.) It's not a book. "Eh?" Well, the thing is that the surroundings/location are invisibly changing at a rather frightening pace. "Whatever do you mean by that?" Well, here is an example:

We headed to the weaver with the threads.
Weaver: "This is some unusual material, I could do a lot with this. Go to the dressing room and measure your size. I should be able to complete the dress tonight. You can pick it up later."
---And another:
"Th-this is so fast..."
"It's more important to get your mother to drink that medicine right. Don't drop it."
"Ye-yes!"
The man went into his house. I followed after him inside. I still hadn't gotten my payment after all.
Coming up to it, it was a regular rural commoner house.

---As you can see, the actions are described, but the surroundings change with little to no notice. (The guy who got a ride mysteriously warped from the road, to the from of his house.) It almost seems as if this whole story came from a manga. All the conversations are there, as well as the actions. But, the surroundings that are portrayed in the pictures are left out. I want to change this, but that means adding sentences, or at least sentence fragments. It will be a noticeable change, but also (in my opinion) a welcome one. (Otherwise, it is a manga without the pictures. Even the speakers are labeled, as if the picture is supposed to be there.) So, what say you to this proposition? Is it okay to mess with the translation, or should it be left as is?

Just so you know in advance, I'm not actually involved in this project, but let me clarify a few things~
1. If you're reading from BT, this is a translation of a web novel, not a light novel. The web novel which is available to read for free online does not go through a professional editing process / refinement like the light novel does, so it's more like a draft. This will lead to lower quality in the text itself in many cases. Depending on the Author's literary skill, it could still read very well, but as a rule of thumb it'll be the inferior of the two.
2. BT hosts translations. Once you add "content" to a translation, it's no longer a translation. Editing a translation is focused on readability / flow of words, at most taking the liberty of changing specific terms / references to fit the language audience it's pointed towards. So generally adding scenery would not be okay.

Just trying to give you a quick answer, hopefully I was helpful~

Out of curiosity, what would you say your Kanji proficiency is at? I'm pretty good at syntax, but having to stop and look up every kanji completely destroys me. I'm wondering at what level did you start to read light novels (not translate them), assuming Japanese isn't your primary language. The only reason I ask is because I find that I learn faster by reading versus spoken word (though I practice with that too) so I managed to acquire a few VN to go through. I'm trying to get the point where I can read fluently and am wondering if I need to build up my Kanji reservoir first, or if constantly looking up kanji is natural. For me, I was pretty much Chinese educated at home since it's my mother tongue, so I do have a rather solid base in that, more than my English too. I just read light novels after I learned the basic hiragana and katakana and try to smoke through with my kanji until I get a denshi jisho to check through.

For your case, yes, you would need to build up your kanji reservoir assuming you're non-Chinese or Korean. VN is a good way to start as hikari and Cosmic Eagle would tell you, but I didn't start from there (for obvious reasons). Now, take your time digesting the vocabulary, and if you want to start off with LN reading, Kaminomi, Baka Test, Seitokai and DenYuuDen are the easiest I can think of.--[[User:Teh Ping|Teh Ping]] 23:49, 12 January 2012 (CST)

The vol 1 will be on April and vol 2 on August 2014, so how come vol 3 up to 13 were taken down already ? Is it already considered illegal ?

Well, this is just coming from an anonymous reader, and it probably will not influence your decision, but I'd like to try to encourage you to keep links to the projects on your blog on BT. Though it has no effect on me, since I actually already know where your blog is (and quite like the ease of readability + theme btw), I also know how difficult it is to find series not posted in frequently viewable areas. In my mind, just hosting your translations on a separate site shows you aren't part of the BT community, but instead hold your own set of translation standards. I've got quite an aversion to social media like twitter personally, so my discovery of projects is self-limited to what I browse for. So I figured I would throw a bid in for future readers like myself, so that they could easily find your excellent translations. As a side note, very much looking forward to OSO, and please feel free to delete this off your discussion page when you've read it because of how large it is lol. Thank you for taking the effort to learn another language and for putting the considerable amount of effort and time it takes to translate a novel into use for people you haven't met, cheers mate.

On Infinite Stratos. Young Japanese women or school girls usually say "Ehhh~" just to sound cute or in a cutesy manner in Japanese society, especially in conversations between fellow woman/girls. So its better to keep them in most cases in IS. It's staying true to the author's original intent since "Whaaat" isn't very cute sounding for the most part, although it does fit in the sentence. Therefore, I suggest that we keep Ehhh~ the way it is unless there's a better alternative than "Whaaat" and "Huuuh" to replace "Ehhh~" in IS. I don't think Ehhh~ ''always'' denotes cutsyness, it can denote extreme surprise or tired surprise like Cecilia being bothered by the girls over her makeup, dress sense and perfume and her saying it (sometimes in her mind) out of exasperation. Wouldn't keeping the Eh's be fine too, instead of replacing them with Huh or What? It doesn't really detract from the meaning as whole in the Light Novel, some english translation projects like Toaru no Majutsu just keep the "Eh" the way it is, and I know its not commonly used in many English novels, but the Eh's are not that big of an issue. “Ehh!? Ok i have been confused with the various pieces of info that keep coming out about IS, so i was wondering if someone can provide me some clarification, ok so the author had a disagreement with the publishing company and due to this a long hiatus, now the novels are being reprinted and will be released starting with the first two novels in April of 2013. The reprints will have new designs from the new illustrator, is that right so far? If i'm way off then please do point this out as right now i'm just trying to piece it all together, ok well lastly comes the big question that i'm wondering about, the current 7 volumes released of IS, is this reprint and change of company have anything to do with the content of the first 7 volumes? In other words when the supposed volume 8 comes out it will continue with the same story where it left off but just with different illustrations? Is the reprint changing the content itself or just the illustrations?

Just curious about the status on Infinite Stratos. Since volume 8 is planned to come out on April 25, I have no doubt our translators will be scrabling for a copy of the raws(a copy for reading, a copy for sharing and a copy for safe keeping), however will volumes 1-7 be reworked? I can't say I'm not interested in seeing the new artwork by CHOCO, but I' also aware of the extra time and effort it will take to go over the previous volumes and update the PDFs(not really, I've reread Mahouka 4 time before I knew it), and the time constraint of living life. Since the previous volumes will be releases on the 25th in the following months, I should be able secure my copies as well. ^_^

It's not our place to rush the translators, however I think at the least people should keep us in the loop and let us know if they are translating, if they plan to, if possible when they plan to, and if anything comes up that prevents them from translating that they let us know. Translating is hard and the people who translate are doing it for free so we can't be ungrateful and try to pressure them but I think translators could keep us up to date so we don't go insane checking the site every hour. I mean a quick sentence saying that their busy with life and will try and get back to it in whatever amount of time should not be too hard to do. Er, Omega. Though I certainly agree with you on some points, it should be noted that no translators have been marked as Active in this translation project since 9 came out, nor have any registered. That should be answer enough as to whether or not they're translating it or not. If a translator is interested in the project (which I admit to being hopeful for also), then naturally they will do so. So until somebody states they're gonna pick it up, you can only be patient about it. It's a popular enough series, I'm sure someone will get to it eventually. Also, helpful hint: hopefully you're not refreshing the IS page all the time. If you are, it may be more useful to you to keep the Recent changes page open and scan it for any IS updates. Sorry. It will lead to an Infinite Wait. Unfortunately for all of us who enjoy harem rom-coms, the author has inadvertently made Ichika into a measurable character meme. If you don't understand what I mean, just google for Ichika Dense Meter. I was laughing so hard when I found a scale used to compare other stories main male protagonists on a scale using Ichika as the worst. And sadly it's quite valid considering Ichika would rather them not get so close. As it stands with current "progress", I'd have to say that Chifuyu would be the first person he'd go for. LOL and that would likely be followed by Maya tied with Tatenashi. The rest are so frikkin' competitive that they constantly get in each other's way leaving the above mentioned three pretty much free passes to be close to him. But since we're talking about Ichika, it'll never happen until someone makes a serious, clear and repetitive confession to him. There's a very good explanation for why but that might take too much space, where as if you would chose to read them and see the parts regarding his childhood life, you'd see it pretty clearly why he's a rather dense, if not slightly effeminate, kind of guy.

It's not like I hated the anime but how desperate the girls seemed to be to get after Ichika's d**k was a little annoying. Is it toned down a little in the novel? I understand that it's a harem series and so, to some degree, it's to be expected but I thought it was a bit much in the second season.

It's a harem series so it will always be like that. If nothing serious is going on and they go back to daily like the girls will be after Ichika. I mean think about it, if you were IN LOVE with someone wouldn't you spend the time trying to form a relationship with them and get them to fall for you rather than wasting time and doing nothing? Especially when someone else is after them? But as for your question, having watched the anime and almost caught up to it's point in the light novel, it will be more in the light novel. There will usually always be more of that in the light novel than in the anime. A scene in the anime could be twice or three times as long in the LN. But at the same time it's not overwhelming. And it applies to other parts like the action. Also the scenes might flow better and be clearer to you in the LN than in the Anime. I think you should really give it a try and read it. I'm reading the first volume, and in Chapter 2 Part 4 should be written "Castello Sforzesco", not "Castella Sforzesco".
And if anyone wants, "Cuor di Leone" is better than "Cuore di Leone"; it's grammatically correct but, "Cuor di Leone" sounds better and have a different meaning, more appropriate. ("Cuore di Leone" it's like a real hearth of a lion, "Cuor di Leone" it's like the rhetorical figure of the courage of the lion; if it's the name of a weapon, object or item, it should definitely be the 2nd one). Even back then the discussion was confused. From what I remember (and the way I understood it), Vaelis was unhappy because the images were too large, size-wise, making the page slow to load and we were spoiling because we ''didn't'' use the covers. My standpoint was the size is very manageable nowadays (I manage, every day, with limited data volume/month on my smartphone) and we don't actually spoil anything because the image we use are only a part of the cover anyway. As for why we use them rather than the cover... they look better. Yes, sadly, that appears to be the case. Fret not though. The time-lord went back in time to save Takedzuki Jou's brain, then brought it into the future where he hooked it up to a cybernetic body. Now Jou lives on as a disembodied brain inside a robot with 6 arms where he's free to churn out more campione volumes without any need for sleep or food. I'm pretty sure he is not dead otherwise it would be posted somewhere easier to find. When I did a google search in both languages I did not find anything. Although my japanese may not be good I'm pretty sure finding it would not be too hard. Also If he Died last year there would not be a Volume 16 because there would not be anyone to finish writing it. People have said he died at the end of last year, so it would be AFTER he completed volume 16, and like he said, he'd have to go quite far back through the group, there's either top news or recent activity, either way he'd have to go back ages, which is a waste of time. Is it just me or does anyone else want Godou to end up w/ Erica and not have a harem ending? At this point, I think the only one who could potentially thwart the harem ending is Yuri, but i really doubt she would. Erica is fine with a harem as long as she's the alpha female. Ena clearly doesn't mind sharing Godou. Liliana has accepted Godou's harem, even if she hasn't yet fully accepted her place within it. Does there really need to be 4 parts to the True Lord Erlang story when it's all in 1 link in Volume 16? Hi I'm relatively new to Campione. I was just wondering if anyone knows when Volume 17 would be released. I'd Also like to know how things work here with the translating. Are translations usually done quickly or can they take awhile? I'm fine either way but would just like to know. Not quite sure when the newest release will be, but they've been decently consistent, so you can expect to get a new release date announced within the next few months most likely. At that point, the release date and ISBN is generally put at the bottom of the page when someone around here finds out about it. As for the translations being done quickly, it depends on the speed of the translator. Generally they are not too quick, as it is very taxing work, however you are in luck for this project. zzhk, the translator that has been working on all the most recent volumes, is one I'd consider a particularly fast translator, so Campione! has been translating very quickly upon release from my experience. -Jadiii
