==Story Synopsis==
Kusumi Chiharu gets a message one day that he has been selected as a Monster Tamer, and he is prompted to select his first partner. He thinks little of the message until he receives a giant package the following day. He assumes it's the porn books he ordered, but the huge box ends up containing the unconscious body of a near-naked girl! She's a ghoul named Zonmi, who intends to fight beside him as his partner. However, it turns out that other hot girls at his mostly-male high school are also magical entities, and Zonmi may not be the only one who wants to fight by his side!

Prologue

In our town, there is a large festival, the Saegusa festival, held on the day of the Tanabata every year in Saegusa city.

To say it was on same scale event as a large national event would be telling the story wrong; instead, it is held by the town's citizens.

Still, if you came and looked at this town recently, you would be able to see how loved this festival is by the local inhabitants.

For example, posters were hung all over the mall.

Another example, people were carrying bamboo grass which is essential for the decorative strips of paper used during the event.

After school.

Walking back home after the school day ended, I saw the town being dyed in the festivals colors a little bit at a time.

“Haru!”

I turned around to a familiar sounding voice and saw a person I knew.

A ponytail swayed with perfectly aligned bangs in a princess cut.

The distinctively well-formed face had diminutive features that had established their owner as the foremost idol of the school I was attending.

Kurose Kyoko. The sudden voice had come from this somebody behind me who had a deep history with me as my childhood friend since elementary school.

“Where are you going right now Haru?”

“Uuummmm. I have to stop at the bookstore in front of the station”.

“He―. What book do you have to buy? Wait, I knew it, its manga isn’t it?”

“NO. Its past questions from the testing center”.

“WHY?!”

Her cute eyes widened with surprise.

I was dumbfounded by her surprise….next year we students have our college placement test. People don’t seem to think about how to prepare, instead they do half-baked measures.

This was mentioned in the editing history once or twice, but writing it here so that it's sure to be read: 'escape' is not 'scape' (which is not a word), and 'heart' is not 'hearth' (which is the thing around a fireplace).
