BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger (ブレイブルーカラミティトリガー Bureiburū: Karamiti Torigā) is a fighting game developed by Arc System Works. The game's name is a portmanteau of "blaze" and "blue," with the "z" sound omitted in the Japanese pronunciation, rendering it similar to the word "brave" in pronunciation.

The game is currently released for the Taito Type X2 arcade system board, with a 16:9 ratio and 768p resolution and was released on November 19, in Japan and November 20, 2008 in the United States. It was released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 home consoles on June 25, 2009 in Japan. A port for the PlayStation Portable, titled BlazBlue Portable (ブレイブルーポータブル Bureiburū Pōtaburu), was released on February 25, 2010 in Japan. The PC version was released in Europe on August 20 and in Japan on August 26, 2010. The PlayStation Portable port was released in Europe on September 9, 2010. The PC port is a direct conversion of the Xbox 360 version, and contains cross-platform compatibility via the Games for Windows - Live service.

A sequel, also next episode featuring new content and characters, titled BlazBlue: Continuum Shift (ブレイブルーコンティニュアムシフト Bureiburū: Kontinyuamu Shifuto) has also been released for the arcade, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

This is a novel series based on that game written by Komao Mako and the illustrations by Yuuki Katou.

==Story Synopsis==
Before the events of the game, humanity was on the verge of extinction from a creature called the "Black Beast." The world was saved by six heroes who wielded magic. They helped humanity create "Ars Magus", a fusion of magic and science, to defeat the Black Beast. This event would be later known as the First War of Magic.

After the war, the Novus Orbis Librarium (the Library or NOL for short) was created to govern the world with the use of Ars Magus. A great deal of dissent was caused by the Library, partly due to Ars Magus' use in nearly every facet of society, and the widening socioeconomic gap between those who could and couldn't use Ars Magus. This dissent would eventually form years later into the Second War of Magic or also known as the Ikaruga Civil War, when the city of Ikaruga openly rebelled against the NOL. Upon winning the war, the NOL imposed a harsher rule on the world, punishing any rebellion against the NOL with death.

In December AD 2199, several years after the Second War of Magic, a branch of the NOL was utterly destroyed by an SS-class rebel named "Ragna" also known as the "Grim Reaper", in an attempt to destroy the Librarium. The NOL, hoping to stop him, immediately announced the largest bounty ever, available to anyone who could capture him. Interestingly, Ragna possesses a powerful form of Ars Magus known as the "Azure Grimoire." This led the NOL, as well as the other fighters, to hunt Ragna not just for his bounty, but also his Azure Grimoire.

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger (ブレイブルーカラミティトリガー Bureiburū: Karamiti Torigā) is a fighting game developed by Arc System Works. The game's name is a portmanteau of "blaze" and "blue," with the "z" sound omitted in the Japanese pronunciation, rendering it similar to the word "brave" in pronunciation.

The game is currently released for the Taito Type X2 arcade system board, with a 16:9 ratio and 768p resolution and was released on November 19, in Japan and November 20, 2008 in the United States. It was released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 home consoles on June 25, 2009 in Japan. A port for the PlayStation Portable, titled BlazBlue Portable (ブレイブルーポータブル Bureiburū Pōtaburu), was released on February 25, 2010 in Japan. The PC version was released in Europe on August 20 and in Japan on August 26, 2010. The PlayStation Portable port was released in Europe on September 9, 2010. The PC port is a direct conversion of the Xbox 360 version, and contains cross-platform compatibility via the Games for Windows - Live service.

A sequel, also next episode featuring new content and characters, titled BlazBlue: Continuum Shift (ブレイブルーコンティニュアムシフト Bureiburū: Kontinyuamu Shifuto) has also been released for the arcade, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

This is a novel series based on that game written by Komao Mako and the illustrations by Yuuki Katou.

==Story Synopsis==
Before the events of the game, humanity was on the verge of extinction from a creature called the "Black Beast." The world was saved by six heroes who wielded magic. They helped humanity create "Ars Magus", a fusion of magic and science, to defeat the Black Beast. This event would be later known as the First War of Magic.

After the war, the Novus Orbis Librarium (the Library or NOL for short) was created to govern the world with the use of Ars Magus. A great deal of dissent was caused by the Library, partly due to Ars Magus' use in nearly every facet of society, and the widening socioeconomic gap between those who could and couldn't use Ars Magus. This dissent would eventually form years later into the Second War of Magic or also known as the Ikaruga Civil War, when the city of Ikaruga openly rebelled against the NOL. Upon winning the war, the NOL imposed a harsher rule on the world, punishing any rebellion against the NOL with death.

In December AD 2199, several years after the Second War of Magic, a branch of the NOL was utterly destroyed by an SS-class rebel named "Ragna" also known as the "Grim Reaper", in an attempt to destroy the Librarium. The NOL, hoping to stop him, immediately announced the largest bounty ever, available to anyone who could capture him. Interestingly, Ragna possesses a powerful form of Ars Magus known as the "Azure Grimoire." This led the NOL, as well as the other fighters, to hunt Ragna not just for his bounty, but also his Azure Grimoire.

Actually, the first kanji is 'hitsugi'(coffin) and the second is 'hime'(princess), so 'Hitsugi Hime no Chaika', or 'Chaika of the Coffin Princess' or 'The Coffin Princess' Chaika' would be direct readings... but it wouldn't surprise me if they turned 'hitsugi'+'hime' to 'hitsugime' as a punny contraction. That's just the furigana for the first kanji - the second kanji is recognizable enough that it doesn't need furigana. The wiki is wrong on that line. I don't want to get into an argument here... the kanji 棺姫のチャイカ reads "ひつぎ　ひめ　の　チャイカ". I read the wiki link. The hiragana translation of the title is incorrect. The furigana "ひつぎ" is used next to "棺" because the usual reading for that kanji in a compound is "かん", not "ひつぎ". Whoever put up that wiki goofed. /shrugs And yeah. Well; as the above states, this series in addition to it's manga-version is since recently green-lit for a Anime adaption.
As is the mark of the times, more and more LN:s are being adapted in this way and i'd like to have a big applause - since we don't translate anything boring on this page but still make up a pretty small part of the scene it's a big step forward for every one of these titles looking at the interest-level.

In short I hope to see a great influx of interest from the anime-enthusiasts again with this development.

It's not Mikaduki, how does that even make any sense? It's pronounced basically the same as "zu" in most cases, though personally when it comes up I romanize it as "dzu" to keep the difference you'd see in Japanese there. [[User:Vexed|Vexed]] 18:48, 22 September 2011 (GMT)

Well, i guess it's just an unimportant matter, but i want to mention it at least. If you guys look onto the page names of the volume chapters, you could notice the inconsistency between those. At first, the series name should always be written with three letters in uppercase, which is not the case for every page. The other thing is the space character between the title an the chapter names which also isn't used at every volume or chapter.
