== Story Synopsis ==
Kishimine Kengo, a boy who moved into a high school that was an all-girls school until several years ago. In spite of the so-called harem environment where he was surrounded only by girls, he wasn't good at socializing and his sole hobby was immersing himself in reading. He lived a quiet life.

But, he decided to participate in club activities that he hadn't done until now, and so his high school life changed into something stormy and full of drama. He joined the one where he played modern games – in short, the game club. Kishimine was supported by the beautiful student council head and a perverted teacher, and he displayed unexpected talent. Now the curtain has been raised on the exciting gaming life of an ordinary boy.

April 10th. Yesterday was the last day of spring vacation, so starting this morning it was a school day. After being woken up by his cute little sister, Itsuka Shidou believed that it would be the start of another normal day. Along with a sudden shockwave, the townscape vanished without a trace. In a corner of the street which had now become a crater, the girl was there.

She is the disaster that will destroy humanity, a monster of unknown origin, and a being rejected by the world. There are only two ways to stop this girl: annihilation, and conversation. His little sister Kotori, wrapped in a military uniform, thus said to Shidou: "Since it's like this, just go date her, and make the spirit fall for you!" "Wh.. whaaaaaaaat!?" Kanji would be completely different, and Tryst in katakana would have an 'イ' (or at least something from that column) in it, which Trust would not. Its grammatical errors. Translation errors are not my forte ( and I personally don't think there are any. I am able to follow the translation flow.). As to the places....near about everywhere. My main confusion is regarding the tense. There's a continuous change between past and present tense (leaving aside the dialogue). Also, there are errors for punctuations...and many more. Most of the edits have been minor and towards changing things like "is" to "was", making things plural/singular of that sort of nature, trying to make things a bit more uniform looking in terms of numbers of [......],etc. Even more head scratching since I've encountered Yoshino's speech, LOL so I just left them how they were. The more dramatic changes I tried leaving TLC tags as hidden notes directly in the text, which you've removed so I assume they weren't too bad.

Ideally, like the latest edits, we'll just discuss them in the relevant discussion pages (There are few scenes that that I changed from the earlier chapter 1 edits that I'll pull out to discussion pages to go through later). But reading through it hasn't been too bad, there have only been 1-2 lines at most that in each chapter have been really confusing. Usually in the narrative bits of the text where some sequences seem a bit jumbled. The dialog has been fine. Hi Riki-kun. Erm, yeah...I just wanted to point out a few things about your Date A Live translations. To begin with, your English is confusing to the point of being incomprehensible. I guess the Editors can fix that...but the meanings might end up getting distorted. Also your translations aren't very accurate and you seem to be skipping some parts...If you don't understand stuff you can always post it in the Lingua Franca Lexicon forum. BT's never had minimum requirements for quality, and I don't think that it's a good idea to set such a precedent for it. Though it is a little troubling when translations are wrong, I think readers would be much happier to hear that you continued rather than giving up. I think that all stella meant to say was that you should feel free to ask for help when you think that there's something that you're not completely understanding. Besides, if you just take care when translating, skipping lines won't be a problem at all. For Tohka's pronunciation of Shidou's name, what should it be? shido, shidou, or Shido? Should it be capitalized? In the terminology page, the reference usedis "shidou", should I go with the names from the terminology page when editing?

Then I thought that Web chapter was more fitting, then when I edited it, the entire chapter disappeared, in a panic I made a new chapter. I've been wondering: Would you translators prefer that I edit the script strictly for spelling, grammar and format, and stick really close to the original more direct translation, or would it be better if I tried to make the text flow more, occasionally altering meanings in some way to make it read more like an English novel? I would like to think that I'm not completely ignorant of Japanese culture and language(otherwise I probably wouldn't even be here), so sometimes I can infer as to what some of the original text was trying to say and thus try to find a more suitable western/English equivalent. I am fine with either way, as the former is easier and less time consuming, though more mechanical, and the latter would be more interesting to do, albeit requiring more effort. What would you guys prefer?

Erm...For me, at least just for me, because I did work previously as an editor (Yeah I sucked at it), most translators would prefer the text edited for spelling, grammar, and format. With flow included. But if it is a big changed to the whole sentence, we would normally paste the "Before change" and "Changed" on the discussion page, then change it. But technical terms are still kept and untranslated (E.g. Sakurasou, Kouhai, Sempai.) I have no idea why, but it looks and sounds better if kept like that. :PPP

But for me, I don't really wanna go through that hassle. If you don't mind that, I would appreciate it, but because of RL stuff, (Most ppl have that), I think it is rather time-consuming. So I am fine if you just edit. And if I don't like it, I'll just change that portion of text back. Something like that. :)

I'm quite flexible so it's fine. But maybe you would have to ask the opinions of other translators as well, just in case... :PPPP

I saw something about that when I started editing this, but when I recently checked again it wasn't there anymore. So, did the rules change? Just my 2¥ concerning editing. After two years of translation, editing and TLC, I think that you should try having the meaning conveyed in a more natural English. For example, idioms, expressions and many things can be edited as long as the script gets better, not worse. So if it doesn't flow well, I'd say that it needs to be rephrased. Basically, you can change or subtitute as long as the meaning doesn't get twisted around.

For the project, BT's default language is American English. However, pudding comes from HK and he uses UK English. I'd say you pick the English you want, as long as it is applied throughout the series. [[User:Kira0802|Kira]] ([[User_talk:Kira0802|Talk]]) 21:51, 7 December 2012 (CST)
