Hi Rasen,

Regarding changes made to Log Horizon Vol 4 chap 1, I was the one that changed most of the present tenses to past tense. This was after I had checked on the forum, and was told that [http://www.baka-tsuki.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=215364#p215364 the narrative was to be in past tense while the dialogue was in present tense]. I noticed you undid many of the changes in the narrative back to present tense, and was wondering what was the reason for that? I'm worried that, even if it's more true to the original Japanese text, the mixed tenses in the narrative would make it a harder read in English. Just wanted to check with you before making more grammatical changes, so that we don't get in each other's way.

No worries. :-) Just wanted to double-check with you. To some extent, I agree with you about present-tense being kept for actions or states that were still ongoing at the time of writing, but I just made a judgement call to convert all into past tense for stylistic consistency. It could go either way. I think maintaining present tense for ongoing situations and past tense for everything else is probably best. The series follows the strategist Shiroe and the other players of the long-lived MMORPG Elder Tale after they find themselves whisked away into the game world following a game update. Log Horizon is an ongoing serial with seven light online novel releases. The online versions serve as the source for commercial adaptations of commercially printed light novels, a manga series, and an anime adaptation airing on NHK Educational TV starting on October 5, 2013. However, during the release of its twelfth expansion pack: Novasphere Pioneers (ノウアスフィアの開墾 Nōasufia no Kaikon), thirty thousand Japanese gamers who are all logged on at the time of the update, suddenly find themselves transported inside the game world and donning their in-game avatars. In the midst of the event, a socially awkward gamer called Shiroe along with his friends Naotsugu and Akatsuki decide to team up so that they may face this world which has now become their reality along with the challenges which lie ahead.
