When Alice says that "the pain of a hikkomori is En extension of the Exponentional function she is talking about math. Simply put; the longer along the x value something is, the higher the y value would become. In Alice case x:time, y;pain. 10 -potence and logarithmic scale are other examples of this.
Basically she is saying that it hurts more the longer she is outside.

(Volume 2, Chapter 5) I do realize that Hina can't pronounce words like the rest of the cast in Papakiki, but is it true in this case as well? It's not a typo, actually Hanburg and Hamburg in Japanese are the same.. Since the symbol " ン " in katakana signifies N/M.. so, " ハンバーガー " is read as Hanbaga/Hambaga but means the same.. -[[User:LightMusic_Club|LightMusic_Club]] 16:55, October 2012

I can't answer you through PM, so I'll just post this here. I've unlocked all the chapters for volume 1, except for prologue and afterword which you did. At the worst case scenario, you'll be asked to retranslate 7-13. (And as for the consistent translations thing, there's NT1 and NT4.) Hey Js06. I've been editing the previously-translated parts of Volume 15, and I was wondering: Joay left a lot of terms in brackets like [GROUP] and the like. Should I just remove all of those? Also, if you can, please check some sentences that I've commented on to make sure they stay close enough to the original: I was kinda grasping at straws when trying to make them make sense in English. The brackets around GROUP were probably meant to emulate the Japanese-style quotation marks 『』 used in the novels, but they aren't really necessary. The Japanese like to put things in quotation marks to distinguish them in the same way capitalizing the word is sometimes used in English (e.g. Esper names like Meltdowner and AIM Stalker are put in quotes in the novels.) I used to puts things in quotes excessively in my translations because I was copying the Japanese usage, but I stopped recently.

Looking at your SS2 translations, I realized that you're doing them in past tense as opposed to present tense like you use in the other novels. Is the original material in past tense, or did you decide to start using more past tense? I do understand that the stories seem to have occurred before volume 16; is that why they're in past tense? Just my personal opinion here as a reader, I think the current format the translator uses is good enough, I think that most readers can easily get the context of the speech being thought, whispers etc. from inferring or the context has already been mentioned in the text. Somehow,I hope you'll allow for some terminology to be in to english. It's kinda difficult to read if one wasn't versed in
Japanese. Especially stuff like 'oppai' and 'bishoujo', which do not have any connotations and sounds wierd in the sentences(e.g 'grope oppai' just sounds disjointed). I'd understand for Maou, Senpai, Kouhai, lolicon and endings though.

Yeah, that's right. We keep the original Japanese name for the characters. So we also use -san, -chan, and -sama suffix is well. So just like you said it's Hyodou Issei but his nickname is Ise and everyone in the club calls him that.

There isn't many story lines which interests me weather it is a manga or LN. But High School DxD is definitely a series which i like whole heartily and thats why i want to thank you from the bottom my heart for translating it. Thank you very much. But there is one more series which attracted me before reading High School DxD and that is 'Kaze no stigma'. This was the first LN i read because it's story plot was entirely different. although this LN will never be completed because of the death of it's author but i still want to see it translated. The male protagonists of this series is my favorite character ever. I know its really mean to ask you about this but please consider my request of translating it whenever you have time. I am also looking forward to the remaining volume of the High School DxD.

Somehow,I hope you'll allow for some terminology to be in to english. It's kinda difficult to read if one wasn't versed in
Japanese. Especially stuff like 'oppai' and 'bishoujo', which do not have any connotations and sounds wierd in the sentences(e.g 'grope oppai' just sounds disjointed). I'd understand for Maou, Senpai, Kouhai, lolicon and endings though.

Yeah, that's right. We keep the original Japanese name for the characters. So we also use -san, -chan, and -sama suffix is well. So just like you said it's Hyodou Issei but his nickname is Ise and everyone in the club calls him that.

The part with the 'True-Red' is probably inaccurate. The original text should be something like [真赤], which simply means crimson/red, and not 'True-Red'.

The reason it's different dimensions there, is because you changed it from Differing Space. Hey Jonathanasdf. Feel free to just edit as recklessly as you please, I have all the pages on my watchlist, so I immediately check any changes anyone makes. Most of the time I don't change anything back unless I feel really strongly about it, as I do make a fair amount of errors. I looked over the prologue discussion page (sweet Jesus that is a lot of hooplah over just one prologue) and I just wanted say some stuff about a few of your concerns. The Celtic Magic minors thing was a grievous mistranslation on my part. What confused me was the fact that minor was in katakana. Thanks for the correction. Also, about Honami's Kansai dialect thing, what I try to do to show that is make her more relaxed in her speaking style, like lots of contractions, shortcuts when speaking, etc. I don't think it's necessary to add a footnote alerting the reader to Honami's speech as I doubt anyone who doesn't know Japanese cares. Sorry about the "eh" thing. I had no idea it was specifically Canadian, I guess I just hear it more often since I live in Detroit? Also, your interpretation of the "If I didn't ask, I would still be a etc etc" line is better than mine, I think. Mine is a little confusing to read. Finally, I think Honami confirming her own equipment makes more sense too after reading your argument.
